Re: big bore handgun Sounds like plenty of accuracy for stomping whitetails. Are you planning on hunting with it? hangunnr

Re: I finally got it!! Is this gonna be a carry gun or just a shooter? I've not as of yet owned a Sig. Maybe someday one will find it's way home. hangunnr

Re: Pick between 2 chokes Mike, If it were me, I'd save a few more pennies and get a Comp-N-Choke tube. The quality is outstanding and the performance is superb. I know they are somewhat spendy but in this case you get what you pay for. hangunnr

Re: .32-20 pistol Terry, Sorry, I must have missed this post. The info stated by modillo is incorrect. The cartridges are different. If the gun is marked .32-20 that's what you should use. The .32S&W is a smaller case both in length and diameter. In the above picture the .32-20 is on the right and the .32 S&W on the left. The difference in case diameter would make the .32S&W a very sloppy fit in the cylinder. While it may fire, I wouldn't advise it. I would think accuracy would be horrible. As far as what model your gun is.......it's hard to tell without seeing a picture. If you have the ability to get a pic posted we may be able to identify it. There are a couple guys here that can help. hangunnr

Re: Guess the Cartridges II Just curious, what is the neck length of your PPC? I assume the .242 you posted is the dia. hangunnr

Of the modern bullets available, which .375 200gr would you choose for a .375 Win. 14" Contender handgun load? Do they make one that'll expand at handgun velocity? I'm expecting I should be able to acheive a muzzle velocity in the 1700-1800 fps range. I came across a 375 Win. barrel today and just couldn't pass it up. I've always wanted one, just never got around to owning one till today. Thanks, hangunnr .........and yes, I know this is a handgun question...........you can move it if'n you want, wouldn't want to upset the put the post in the proper place police.........

Re: Guess the Cartridges II If'n it's a 22 PPC it's got a longer neck than the ones I've got on hand. Maybe it's just the picture. hangunnr

Re: Guess the cartridges Naw, gotta give it to Don. You had me locked up with the 284 cased round. When I saw what he posted I then remembered you saying you had an XP chambered for that round. hangunnr

Re: Guess the cartridges I agree with BBV. All but the AI. I think it's a straight 284-338. That 284-338 has to be a riot out of an XP. hangunnr

Re: New Gun to try First off be very careful on how you shoot that gun. The recoil generated by a full house 3-1/2 " load out of that small light gun is nothing short of brutal. I'm not really bothered by a hard recoiling gun but had enough of one of those after only 2 shots. Those shots were taken standing where my body could roll with the recoil. I have to think there is a real potential to get hurt if you would shoot it while leaning against something. With that said........ The absolute best pattern I've ever seen shot with turkey loads was through a NEF single shot. My buddy had one that would throw super tight patterns at 50yds with 2-1/4oz federals. hangunnr

.........you'd seen it all someone goes and does this..... The Worlds largest revolver weighs 45 kg (99.2 lb), has a length of 1.26 m (49.6 in), a height of 40 cm (15.7 in) and is a working, scaled-up copy of a Remington 1859. It was built by Ryszard Tobys of Czempin, Poland and test-fired on July 15, 2002. The gun holds 6 bullets, each weighing 136 g (4.7 oz), with a caliber of 28 mm (1.1 in). Between May 31 and June 2, 2002, the titanic revolver was used in a shooting competition between NATO Reserve Forces from Great Britain, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. After three days of firing the fantastic firearm, the prize went to representatives from the Czech Republic. ------------------------------ YIKES!!!!!!!!!!! hangunnr

Re: Rossi Don't know if you knew this or not but Rossi handguns are manufactured by Taurus down in Brazil. I would rank them right along with Taurus as far as fit and finish. They are servicable at best. I'm not very fond of them so instead of raking them over the coals I'll just bow out. hangunnr

Re: Is there anything................ Hey richy, thanks for the rant...... What you see is a little defenseless animal that may now have a chance at survival. If you have no compassion in your heart for something as innocent as this creature I gotta think there isn't much to you. As far as your countrys farmers having problems with rabbits. Sounds to me that ya'll need to work on your game managment skills. I'll gladly share my garden with the rabbits. hangunnr

Re: overcomming the \"flinch factor!\" Tominator hits the problem right on the button. Your problem isn't flinching from the shot it's anticipation of the recoil causing you to pull your shots wildly. The recoil isn't something you can control so why try. Let the gun do it's thing, it's not gonna hurt you so let it roll as needed. Proper grip is paramount to being able to shoot a handgun accurately. Your strong hand or trigger finger hand should only exert 40% of the total grip on the gun. Your weak hand will provide the rest. You want the trigger finger hand relatively relaxed so there isn't any stress on the trigger finger at all. This will help prevent pushing the shot to one side and allow you to pull the trigger straight back without any side movement. There are only two things required to shoot accurately. 1. Align the sights properly on the intended target. 2. Move the trigger to the rear without disrupting the sight picture. That's it............no secrets whatsoever. Dry fire practice will help train your mind on how the sight picture should look when breaking the shot. The consious mind can only do one thing at a time. That one thing has to be concentrating on the sights. Your sub-consious mind takes care of pulling the trigger. If you have consious thought of pulling the trigger you're no longer paying attension to where the gun is pointing. Couple this with recoil anticipation and god only knows where your shot will go. You should have a surprise break on the shot. Once you can get past the improper mindset of feeling you have to man handle the gun, you'll be surprised how much your groups will shrink. It dosen't matter if you're shooting a .22 or a .500 Smith the way you shoot stays the same. Concentrate on keeping the sights on target and forget about what the gun is going to do and the small groups will follow. hangunnr

..........cuter than a baby rabbit? Had a nest of these little critters in the flower box in our front yard. Went out the other morning to see a cat ripping the nest apart. This guy was the only survivor. Bottle fed him for a couple days then weened him to solids. Seems to be doing fine now. hangunnr

Re: Couple pics from this morning...... [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I didn't go to the woods that I'll be hunting. No sense educating the birds I'll be chasing. hangunnr [/ QUOTE ] That is why they don't allow calling here on public land until the season opens. They do not want someone educating the birds before people hunt. Kind of common courtesy. [/ QUOTE ] The land I was on isn't open to hunting, so educating these birds isn't a problem. hangunnr
