Re: YES!!! I got one! Yes, I am going to mount the fan. Was having plans for flies with the feathers but I got the tail off nice and actually caped out the feathers still on the skin...kinda nice. so I want to make up some type of plaque thing to put the cape and tail on.

Re: Anyone watching... I can understand why alot of you don't watch. We watch for the movies mostly, not because these celebs. are so rich and famous. Seems like it is a competition of who has the most expensive dress and jewelry.

A Ruffed Grouse that is! I've only gotten 1 other Ruffed Grouse in my almost 8 years of hunting. I drove to a piece of state land today...small piece about 15 minutes from home. It looks very promising for sheds, didn't find any, but with all the sign of the deer in the apple trees and pines, there has to be a shed under the 2 feet of snow there. So back to getting a Grouse. I had seen grouse in there before. I have my shogun and keep walking around. If I go off a deer trail, the snow is past my knees. I hiked for over an hour with no luck and my legs were getting really tired. I found some fresh grouse tracks but no grouse. I come up to a big snow covered log on the ground, pause and then I hear a grouse take off under the log! It turns and flies through the trees about 20 yards in front of me and BOOM! I take a shot. I was assuming I missed as there was a bunch of small beech saplings in the way but I went over to where I shot at it to check anyway. I get there and find a few feathers on the ground. I'm thinking "hmm....I didn't miss afterall. Must have just grazed it but it must be near by) I walk ahead finding a few more feather, turn towards this snow covered pile of brush and there is a dead grouse in the snow!!!!!!!!!! I go "Oh my gosh, I got it! Thank you Lord!" I jumped over the brush and took a couple photos, which are below. I could never be happier, especially since the season ends on Wednesday. and this came from state land and is my first wild game kill on state land Wooohoo, guess what we are having as a side dish tomorrow night I'm so pumped It's a great feeling to be blessed and I'm so happy after not getting one or hunting them much since I last got. Woohoo This is when I first found it: Another photo after I picked up the "gold" in my hands : And a bonus photo, saw these deer on my drive over, on a back road through a larger part of the state land:

Re: things we don\'t know about you. Ok, I'll think of something I didn't post in the women's forum. How about I'm 24 years old, have a kitten named Nemo, a horse named Checkers, a parakeet named Hoops, and a few rabbits named Truffles, Indigo, Fudge, and DW.

Re: Smallest Brown? Congrats and good eyes! I'll have to post a photo of my 2 smallest ones, both spikes, little bigger than yours, but spike sheds no matter how big or small or hard to find because nothing sticks up off them.

Re: I found my first one ever!!! Congrats on the first find! Always special! Now it'll be a little easier because you have an idea of what to look for, but just a little.

So what are you all doing this weekend? We got some hay for the horses this morning then my mom, sister and I went to the movie theater and watched Music & Lyrics (great movie), did a little shopping and came home. It was sunny out which was a bonus. Tomorrow the weather is suppose to be decent so I'm going to get the shotgun and drive over to a piece of state land that has a bunch of apple trees on it that I flushed some grouse out of last time I was there. It's also heavily used by deer with an overgrown pine plantation they bed in, so even with all this snow, I'm hoping I might get lucky and find a shed! Small game season ends Wednesday so I've got to try and get out and get my shots in before I put the gun away. Oh, and I'm sleeping in also...gotta catch up on sleep this weekend

What's the biggest turkey you've ever killed???
Turkeygirl replied to HuntinDiva's topic in Turkey Hunting
Re: What\'s the biggest turkey you\'ve ever killed?? Not sure if I have a photo saved somewhere or not, but it was my last turkey before my drought began...my first ever gobbler (jakes before then). He weighed 20 lbs with 8.5"beard and 1.25" and 3/4" spurs. He even had some old shot healed into his leg. -
Re: My awesome, surprise b-day gift! Thanks everyone. Andy does beautiful work. I cannot wait to hear the first gobble in response to this call:-)

Re: This one going to a member in New York Beautiful work Andy...and I know it first hand!!! Keep it up!

Re: Wife has to get an MRI (prayers needed) Wow, will keep her in my prayers. Scary stuff, but hopefully they'll find out what's wrong. Could just be blood pressure, or some people just seem to have sever headaches more than normal. Hope it is something that is easily treatable though. Keep us posted.

So around 5pm yesterday, I go out to fill our bird feeders before going to do barn chores. I keep watching over towards the side of the house where we have a brushy area on the property line rabbits love. I'm filling a feeder and see a rabbit hop out. I run in and grab the .22, of which Andy said was really off when he shot like 10 times at a rabbit a week ago. Well I thought opposite but was proved wrong when I couldn't hit it. Watched the rabbit hop off, ran in and grabbed the 20 ga. and went back out. Found the .22 was hittingthe ground just before the rabbit. Started following tracks, look over to my right and see his head poking up behind a pile, I get a shot off as he turns to leave, narrowly missing him. So I cut his tracks, finally come upon him as he darts in front of my like 10 yards, go to squeeze the trigger and nothing, what the heck, did it jam!? I watch the rabbit stop behind some logs, sneak a little closer, his head pops up, aim, and do the trigger, nothing, not even a click! I watch as this rabbit hops to my left about 15yards in the wide open, stops and goes on. I can't figure out what is wrong till I look and find a chunk of ice behind the trigger and trigger guard Embarrassing, yes. I had tripped in the snow and the trigger end went in, didn't think to check it. I learned my lesson!
