  1. Re: employment woes Wow, that really stinks! Good luck and will pray for you. God will provide, He always does.
  2. Re: research paper For a college class - Public Speaking - I did a speech on CWD and I got an A on it. CWD is definitely something with alot of info on it out there. What it is, where it has been found, the causes or possible causes, what they are doing to stop it or the spread,etc... A piece of advice is pick something with alot of info you can find on it:) Let us know what you choose.
  3. Re: Best and worse of your season? Good luck Andrea! How cold is it in Florida? LOL. Try to compete with 0 degrees this morning and negative windchill in NY:-)
  4. Re: 16 - Backstrap Butchers Keep at it team and if you haven't entered your deer, get er' in! It's looksl ike a close contest this year and everyone has done great! no luck yet in filling my shotgun buck tag yet, last 2 days of the season this weekend. Next week is late archery so I may go out with that as my shotgun tag is good for a buck or doe in late archery.
  5. Ok ladies, was wondering what's one of the best aspects of your season this year, and your worse...could be anything. For me, the best part I'd say would be breaking my 2 year buck drought with a 7 point buck with my new bow I got this year. The worst....I would have to say sitting in my treestand the beginning of shotgun and hearing the neighbors unload their guns on a buck maybe a couple hundred yards up in front of me out in a field(I was in the woods, couldn't see). Tears literally came to my eyes because the deer had no chance, they surrounded the field, and to think of a deer dying that way, hearing gunshots from all over, instead of one shot doing the trick, well that's not my idea of respect to God's critters. So who else?
  6. Re: **00buck whacks and stacks** (pics) Wow, beautiful buck! Congrats!
  7. Re: Sit or walk?? Well this morning it was 0 degrees. I sat in some pines overlook briars with corn fields on both sides, only sat about an hour then started walking. Lots of tracks. I followed 2 different sets of decent sized tracks that were by themselves so I thought htey may be bucks. Never found the deer, jumped some, I think does, in some hemlocks. got home around 11am. All i can se is it is FREEZING outside!
  8. So some of you may not know this but before you go out hunting, and youh ave plans to try and stay warm...empty your bladder first, lol. Really, seriously I learned this in Wilderness First Responder training. Having a full bladder won't help you get any warmer, it'll just help you get colder. I remembered this yesterday when I got cold hunting and started walking back home. I find out I really had to pee, so despite a horrible wind chill and it being like 10 degrees and snowing, I popped a squat behind a tree. I can't remember exactly why you would be colder with a full bladder, but it's true! Just thought I'd share with you all
  9. Re: Christmas shopping? Yeah, my mom does most of the shopping, Andy is so last minute. I usually just have to get something for my sister, mom, and Andy, and usually by now I'm done, but I'm not, lol.
  10. Re: 2 month baby drunk on vodka Duh...something isn't right there....
  11. Re: had to weed the big girls out Wow, way to go. Best eating right there!
  12. Ok, so I'm planning on hunting this afternoon. Just saw neighbor go up on his atv, must be hunting himself, for once, lol. Anyway it's snowing, we have a north/northwest wind. I'm trying to decide if I should walk again like I have been in hopes of spotting a buck, or should I just sit somewhere. I was thinking if I sat, either go into the pines and briars where I saw a doe yesterday ad think I found a set of buck tracks or go down into the woods a little more and sit. Or keep on walking and try to stay downwind of deer. season ends on Sunday. Any suggestions or what would you do? And what would be some good spots to look for bucks? Pines? Thick stuff?
  13. Re: Just dont get it-what happens Sounds like around my area. The first week of shotgun season, our neighbors pounded the heck out of the farmland we hunt. They get a bunch of guys together and just do major drives and unload their guns...and they usually only shoot bucks. they aren't even suppose to be on this land. Anyway just after the first day of season, you're lucky you see a deer. This last week I've gone out twice with the snow on the ground and just slowly working my way through the woods, down wind. First time saw a group of 5 does- they fed out onto this logging trail about 20 yards from me...easy bow shot, lol. Saw 2 other does later on. Yesterday saw 1 doe in some thick stuff. Not sure where the bucks are but they all must be hanging out somewhere! I'm going to give it another go today probably. I think even a few days before season when hunters are sighting in their guns, the deer hear it and know. Deer aren't totally dumb that's for sure, lol.
  14. Re: I\'m out of my mind *(Possibly back to College)* You are not too old. I'm 23, trying to decide if I should go backand get a BS in athletic training or a Master's of some sort, but financially it's kind of hard to do. I'd say go for it while you can!
  15. Re: oooouuucchhhh!!! Well I played an intramural basketball game Monday night and I am still sore today, I think I sprained a wrist and I think my shin splints are at it again...but I still went out in the woods hiking around deer hunting, lol.
  16. Re: Shed Contest Sure, you'd be able to count those as sheds for this year's contest I believe....I could be wrong but I think you could. I think it usually starts up in January? Maybe February/March?
  17. Re: Who is starting to wrap thier seasons up? Shotgun season ends this Sunday for us, then it is muzzleloader and late archery. Hopefully I'll get a buck for my shotgun tag these last few days....Wasn't a bad season overall - got a buck and doe with bow and a doe with shotgun, and I broke my 2 year buck drought so that is a bonus:) Good luck everyone!!
  18. Re: Pretty Good Birthday For A Broken Up Preacherman Happy birthday preacherman! Over the Hedge is a great movie...I think you'll like it:)
  19. Re: Come on ladies! Well Andrea and I will do our best to keep this forum funa and active:-) I've been busy trying to fill my buck tag this last week of shotgun. Got snow on the ground so it'll make for some better hunting hopefully. Was coming home from an intramural basketball game last night, there were 6-7 deer in our corn field! Stinkers....
  20. Re: Snow Day Today!! Hunting?? lol Is season still open up there or no? Well we have snow and we are suppose to get more so unless we go get a new microwave, I'll be out trying to fill my buck tag.

  22. Re: Late season fresh snow hunting I went out today, didn't find any fresh tracks or anything until I veered off a logging trail onto another one going deeper into hemlocks and came upon a doe eating 20 yards in front of me. I crouched behind a tree and watched as 5 does total came out, all easy shots with gun or especially bow. They never saw me until one started walking towards me then they just kind of went back into the hemlock. Saw 2 more does later on, only had like 5 seconds to see them. Just gotta find the bucks now...Snow was great though.
  23. Re: Late season fresh snow hunting Thanks wtn. Hopefully I'll sneak up on an unsuspecting buck:) But if not, should be fun hiking through a blizzard, lol. Guess I'll just try to stay downwind and work my way around and hopefully come across some large, fresh tracks of a buck...but not the tracks of any hunters.
  24. Ok, could use some types guys. We got unexpected snow last night so right now it is snowing and we have some good snow on the ground which means some exciting hunting I expect! I think I'll go out after lunch today, will have to walk as Andy has one car at work and sister is taking other to school. I'm figuring I should try to do some still hunting or slowly walk and try to spot a buck for my tag...or would I be better off just sitting in a stand?Andy and I haven't seen anything doing a few small drives this weekend. In a recent outdoor life they give tips for hunting late season bucks and they suggest try to find some tracks, target crop fields, heavy cover,etc...What do you suggest I do today? And how do I know if a fresh track I come upon is a buck or not? Any tips would be great! Thanks!
  25. Re: what kind of bow? I shoot a 2006 Hoyt Rintec XL. just bought it this fall before archery season. It is one sweet bow! Before that I had an old Hoyt Mystic Rebel, so this bow is a major upgrade:)
