Re: New hoyt and reflex bows I was looking at a Reflex bow before I purchased my Hoyt Rintec XL for about $380 back in the beginning of October. It's a sweet bow and has put 2 deer in the freezer for me this year. I didn't go with a Reflex because it was a little heavy I thought, other than that I think Reflex are decent bows.

Re: Any Success in NY Today? I got a doe on the 22 - Wednesday. Nice young one. We are going to try to get to the neighbor's land this weekend - both bear and some nice bucks over there.

Re: Antler color question I heard it had to do with the velvet, like Moon quoted. I'm not sure though as we were wondering this the other day. Out neighbor got a buck on his land and it had dark antlers, yet one time bowhunting there, I had a buck below my with almost pure white antlers. Couldn't shoot though, already filled my archery buck tag, as you know, lol.

Re: New hoyt and reflex bows I haven't heard anything yet though from what I've seen of those new Hoyts...I'm sure, in my guess, they'll be in the range of $400+...Reflex usually sell a bit cheaper than the Hoyts, but they are made by Hoyt so still a great bow. If I hear of anything I'll let you know...

Well I first of all owe God great thanks for blessing us this hunting season: Andy got a doe and I got a buck and doe with archery, then Andy got a doe Saturday and I got a doe TODAY with shotgun. So you all wanna hear the story and see the pics I guess. Here's the story, will get the photos up later. About noon we put our hunting clothes on and drive down the road to park on a tractor path below a patch of pines that is surounded by fields on all sides, and the road we live on at one end with a hay field between the woods and road. It is probably quarter after 12pm, the neighbors are in eating lunch, so we make our move, lol I hike up the path about 1/2 way then step just inside the woods about 5 yards. Andy is back down by the car. The pines have alot of brush and briars so the deer like to go hide in there and they also come in here when they get pushed from the other side of the road. I tell him I'm ready over the radio. Literally 2 minutes later I here deer crashing to me at my left. I have my gun up and can't see them because I'm on the side of a bank and there is brush above me. Next thingI know out pops a doe 10-15 yards away! I think she was quartering towards me but all I know is she stopped, I got the crosshairs on her and BOOM! I'm still looking through the scope and she has moved about 5 yards closer and is staring straight at me! I don't know if I should run or not being that close Then I think there is no way I missed! Suddenly she turns and runs and I see the blood on her side a little back from her shoulder but not too far back, and she takes off across and down the bank and a bigger doe pops out and runs with her. I tell Andy on the radio I got one as I see her stop and the other one keep going. She stops in the briars behind a tree and beds down. I look through the scope best I can. Eventually I see her head weaving and know she isn't going anywhere! andy comes up along the other side of the woods, opposite me in the corn field. We stand there about 20 minutes to make sure then, although I know where she is, I follow the blood trail anyway. Decent blood trail and probably after about 50-60 yards I come upon a nice young doe, about same size of my archery doe (I know, I didn't get those photos up yet, lol). Slug hit behind the shoulder, just a little back and didn't exit as it stopped by the opposite hind leg knee. Let me tell you that was an easy drag and andy just drove the car up the tractor path a little and we loaded her in the trunk. We got home and the clock says 1:23pm. We were out there maybe 45 minutes! The most time being spent cleaning her probably. Thank you Lord for your blessings! Now Andy and I have our buck tags left which we'll be trying to fill. We have 3 deer in the freezer and 3 hanging in the root cellar(a neighbor got a buck and doesn't want all the meat) Good luck everyone and be safe!

Re: Unbelievable! Thanks outdoorgirl, at least someone is on my side, lol. Most of you are right and have a point but believe me, no one knew it was there, not even the guy. The only way someone wouldh ave seen it would have been walking or really looking in the ditch. We were out for the hunt and didn't think of grabbing the rack since we hunting. If we had known he was a jerk, we would have grabbed it first. Oh well....Andy actually had a saw in the car but took it out before we left, guess it's his fault, lol!

Re: Team 16 Way to go everyone! congrats on some great deer! I still have yet to put a tag on a doe or buck for shotgun, and I'm hoping I can improve on my archery buck but if not, oh well. Good luck everyone and enter your deer if you haven't already!

You will love this story...So Monday afternoon Andy and I goto ut to hunt. We were going to push this small block of woods before going up to sit in stands. As he pulls to the side of the road to make a U-turn to park on the other side by the corn field, I look in the ditch to see a NICE 8 point buck, dead! He parks the car and we get out, I go over to find a real nice 8 point, not huge, but best one I've seen on this land. andy comes over and as we look at it, a guy in a pick-up coming down a road next tp us stops and gets out. He lookedto see what we were looking at, looked kind of smug and said "oh yeah, there was an accident here last week". Well Andy and I were going to come get the rack after hunting. After the hunt we went home, got a saw and bag, came back to find the JERK took the rack! I was so mad! I found that deer first and if I was that guy. I wouldn't feel proud of it because someone else found it. What a...ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr He actually drove away and then when we went in the woods must have snuck in and got it. We were so surprised because he appeared too much of an old fart and too high class to saw a rack off a dead buck on the side of a road. So a warning to you all....don't take racks off deer that a girl has found first! lol

Ok, I can't get in the deer hunting forum....it has like 15 users! All I get is page not found which I've had before if there is a bunch of people in it. Come on! some people need to clear out so I can have a turn!

Re: got pulled over tonight Well in NY, it is illegal to spot light any property without the landowner's permission. Although I probably would have called the cops if someone was shining their lights all over my yard...I don't like to be woken up,lol:)

Re: Any Success in NY Today? I saw absolutely nothing here except for our neighbors who are jerks and even bigger jerks when it comes to deer season. I did see a couple does this evening when we went to the neighbor's land but I was looking for a buck, my DMP isn't for that area. The neighbors like to get a big group together, surround a field, and empty their guns on running deer. they push the land we hunt so hard the first couple days that after that, it makes hunting extremely tough. Gotta keep going though....Andy got a nice doe Saturday morning though.

Re: Woohoo! What an archery season! Thanks everyone! If I happen to not fill a tag after shotgun, I'll try for late archery...I am hooked on the bow, lol! Having a good bow makes theh unt even more exciting:)

Re: Good luck tomorrow NY!!! Yeah, don't forget us who stick it out the old fashioned way with shotguns, lol. Good luck and be safe everyone! Having a hard time deciding what stand to hunt but I think I made my decision...hopefully.

Re: To hold out or not hold out? Anyone? 7 viewers and no replies.??..must be non-registered people....

Well I'm on a toss up of if I should hold out for a bigger buck then my archery buck or shoot what comes along. Shotgun starts Saturday and I'd like some nice, but on the farmland we hunt, after maybe the first week and a half, bucks seems to disappear. I sure don't want to pass up a buck and regret it later but I don't want to fill my buck tag early and see a better one later on. I don't know if we'll hunt the neighbors land or not. So what do you guys do in such a situation? I've decided I'll probably hunt a climber Andy will be putting near the scrape - same spot that I got my archery buck from. I might get some deer pushed over from neighboring land, but I may also see more hunters than from my other stand but I guess that is the choice. I do know where this climber is, up on a ridge by it were a couple trees about the size of my lower leg, with rubs. i know there has got to be some decent, not huge, but maybe my biggest if I got one, bucks running around.....
