  1. I've gotten one for the few times I've been out with the .22....might need to check the scope, I've missed a few. Was going to go out today with the 20 ga. but weather yucky so probably this weekend....take the ol 20 ga....grouse season now as well.
  2. Besides all the hunting seasons is.... CIDER and DONUTS!:eat::rockon: Who else??
  3. Trying to get him on cam...hope to hang my one cam out later today...find a scrape...maybe he'll be by or one of the other nice ones.
  4. Congrats, good eater there! I prefer the small ones..easier drag and very tasty!
  5. That's awesome BucknRut! 2 weeks to go till season...and I miss the opening weekend due to work. checking a trail cam today...activity has been slow the last month..
  6. Awesome buck, congrats! And with an Elite bow to boot;)
  7. Eventually everything has to make money in some form...I mean even religion/Christianity is used to make money and that is just plain sad. I know what you mean clrj....I will say the Archers Choice is one of my fav. shows...they seem more about the hunt, less about the score...I can't stand the shows where they have beautiful bucks right there and they "decide to pass because it's not big enough." Well to the rest of us, that'd be a trophy here....lol
  8. I worked 11pm to 7am last night...completely zoned today. Don't I was ever awake for 24 hours,lol. Good thing it isn't deer season!
  9. The floor I'm on is a rehab/acute/palliative...critical access as well I believe, about 20 bed floor and then there are 2 nursing home floors and an urgent care as well. I think some does have to do with all this health care reform and I think if it's an elective surgery, people aren't doing it because of money and the economy...
  10. On a recommendation I got a Buck Gardner Canada Hammer II call...$25...A friednsent me an instruction CD so I'm practicing but so far not a bad call.
  11. Not too good at work lately...down to one patient...having a hard time getting referrals for patients. With the new management and stress to get patients, there's tension running high. One person got fired the other day. Staff are getting called off...today was my turn to be called off my usual shift but I picked up 11pm to 7am...I've never worked that late but I want to keep as much of my hours as possible or they use vacation/holiday time so you still get paid. Apparently, by word of mouth, they aren't paying overtime, we don't have money in the budget for supplies on our floor...no patients = not making money. Hoping and praying it picks up soon...it gets slow in the summerb ut we usually pick back up by now and never can anyone remember being down to 1 patient.
  12. Happy birthday regardless! Nice buck I hope he'll be back for ya...
  13. Very cool! I hope some grow for ya! Keep us posted what happens:)
  14. I went out squirrel hunting. Sitting on a ridge, had one in range but couldn't get a shot. Well i hear some crunching and some deer come up over this smaller hill below me and stop to mill around a stump. one was the spike with the antler that is fallen over the side of his head. the other a beautiful wide 8 and then all I see is a big tall rack....his G2s had to be 12" or close to...a crab claw on the right side...I would think at least a ten...big, tall, narrow but what a buck! Mountable for sure Had to be the biggest deer I've seen around here in real life...lol...and it's right there by the land I hunt....I hope he sticks around....or the 8.... Hope I get a trail pic...

    New Bow

I'm shooting Easton Flatlines out of my new bow...great arrow so far.
  16. 4 weeks from today, the 15th is the archery opener! I have to work that weekend so I miss those days. Going out to check a trail cam then put my other one out. On one of these nice days, going to put my Primos blind up in our woods...time to start cracking...season is coming quick!
  17. Went up to the big city yesterday (Buffalo). Spent some $ at Gander Mountain. Got shoes on sale for work, a pair of Realtree camo clogs on sale for $17, A complete set of Frogg Toggs RT camo rain gear for $50 on sale, a Black Hole target on sale for $30, a pair of Under Armor socks for hunting, couple things for fly tying, and a bottle of Code Blue Doe urine. I think that covered everything. They did have a super deal on a Benelli Nova for $299...but they didn't have the 20 ga. so not meant to be...otherwise it would have been my dedicated waterfowl and field gun. They have some good deals going on so if you are near one, check it out.

    Howdy

Depends partly what state you are in. In NY they start dropping I'd say from late December through February. Look for trails, bedding areas, and winter feeding sources. You'll put in alot of hiking and may not always come up with one so you have to stay with it.
  19. Hope he heals quick! I scratched my eye one time...some of the worst pain and discomfort. Healed fine but still bothers me now and then if my eye gets dried out at night.
  20. I shoot blazers through a WB without a problem. Actually never had any problems with vanes getting damaged by the WB.
  21. LOL. Ok, I'd choose the non-typical then...there's just something about the character and uniqueness of a non-typical, it's just plain cool:turned:
