  1. Wow...you got up there...creative thinking! Is that a second climber you took up after the Y there above the other climber?
  2. Welcome! Last couple years I've shot a TC Omega Z5. Last year put a scope on it, really dialed it in, 3 bullets touching at 100 yards in the bullseye. Good shooting gun, yes it kicks a little but it kills based on my results this past season. I also am looking at CVAs, particularly the Accura V2. I want something with an easily removed breech, easy to clean, etc. I spoke to someone who loves his CVA, said it's great shooting, great trigger, easy to clean, and accurate. I have also been considering the TC ProHunter fx but leaning towards a CVA. Good luck in your search and it'll be a matter of trying different loads to see what it shoots. My TC Omega likes 2 Triple 7 pellets and Hornady SST. Never shot it though with 3 pellets, saw no need. Took a doe at about 110 yards with the gun.
  3. Seems in my area clover grows ok in partial shade. I have a plot on the one corners of our woods, worked around small pine trees. I put a clover mix in there this year, seems to be coming along...minus where it got washed out from heavy rain.
  4. For those interested, here's the web link, they also have a Facebook page. Be the Adventuress provides a free digital magazine. It's nice to find more female hunter/outdoors-women geared media. http://betheadventuress.com/
  5. I haven't even used my certificate from 2 years ago. I'll have to see if I still can.
  6. My sister's dog if it sees a critter like a chipmunk or woodchuck go into it's hole, the dog will dig after it with fury and my sister usually has to pull the dog away. Wonder if your dog saw a critter go there.
  7. Earlier this week or last week I recall seeing a small flock or two of geese flying. Also seen some geese with goslings around water.
  8. There was an IBO shoot in Williamson yesterday and today. Shot yesterday, 298 (13 x) in my class. It was a tough course so i can't complain, a few 11s made up for a couple bad shots from misjudged yardage. There's one more shoot before the State Championships. I need to invest in one of those good sight lights, had several targets I couldn't see my pins on as my sight light didn't go bright enough.
  9. IBO 3D shoot tomorrow, that'll be all day. Sunday R&R, maybe some trail cams to check
  10. wtn...any issues with misfires with your Accura? I don't know if it was that specific model but in my researches online I read some had issues with misfires or not firing in cold weather with their CVA. Of course others had positive reviews on their CVA
  11. I saw Cabelas had the TC Pro Hunter FX with scope on sale for $699 which kind of got me thinking, since I fell in love hunting with the ML last year, about getting a newer ML with an easier breech system, etc. Debating on TC and CVA....saw both at Cabelas, held both. Wondering what the rest of you use/like/dislike? Anything to look for or avoid?
  12. Nice shooting DB! I'm probably heading this weekend to my third IBO shoot of the season. Shot 307 1st shoot, 300 second shoot. The Hoyt Pro-Defiant is a shooter
  13. Have 5 out currently....still had some bucks that hadn't shed as of 2/26. Hoping to start patterning turkeys on the cams
  14. Sunday went to Cabelas. In the Bargain Cave picked up a Caldwell Lead Sled 3. It was marked down due to box damage, everything fine inside. Got it for around $100 but then had gift cards also so for everything I bought, walked out of there for just under $85, which also included a Carlson's heavy shot choke tube from the bargain cave for my Winchester SX3, 2 boxes of hevi-shot turkey ammo, front fiber optic shotgun sight, and cabelas equipment bag. Had a chance to use a cheaper, plastic lead sled version last fall. Realized just what I was missing out on when sighting in my guns.
  15. Wondering if anyone hunts with a .410 shotgun? If so which one? In the back of my mind, I've kind of wanted one for small game hunting. Shot one once while helping with a hunter safety class. Today at a bow shop shooting league, they also have guns and had apparently gotten in guns from an estate sale. They had a Remington 11-48 .410 semi-auto . I have to say, that gun held really nice, but being that I shoot guns left handed, this gun was for a right handed shooter and the safety is trickey. Anyhow kinda keeping my eyes out.
  16. I really like my Buck knives...I have Bantam but on the blade it says China. I have another Buck knife I got at Cabelas and on the blade it says USA. If I get a Buck knife, I try to make sure it's one of the USA ones.
  17. This past week league changed to Vegas. Shot 416. Pulled one shot and got a zero. Sticking to working with this thumb release. I will say I am seeing improvement, just trying to work on finding a shot routine. So far I have found if I draw and anchor, thumb on the "button" and start pulling back, using more back tension, that I think I'm getting somewhere. Before I would draw, anchor, then basically squeeze my hand so to speak but was not consistent.
  18. Of course, one does not have to shoot a woman specific bow...shoot what shoot wells for you and feels good to you. Here is an article though on womens' bows for 2017. http://www.bowhuntingmag.com/ata-show-2017/ata-2017-best-compound-bows-for-women/
  19. Anyone use any of their knives? Picked up a set, the Wild Pair, on clearance for $15 at Tractor Supply. Seemed like a good price for some back-up knives.
  20. This February thaw has been wonderful for getting out to shed hunt. Sunday coming home from work, I glanced out at this model airplane field and there were big tines shining in the sun. Picked up one of my best sheds, a heavy, thick one. Yesterday went for a late afternoon hike. Picked up a broken side. Here's a photo of it next to the thick shed for comparison. Today went for an early afternoon hike, found a dead head buck and also another shed, which happens to be from a buck I got on trail cam.
