  1. liberal pansy in my eyes---a good actor and even a greater example of the typical hollywood liberal.
  2. never heard of a deer that won't eat corn?? They must already have plenty of available forage if they are turning down corn.
  3. None of your fall annuals are really going to help with antler growth--by the time the bucks need them the next spring they are either in their last stages or not too palatable. If you are really concerned about antler growth you need to concentrate on warm season high protein plants. Annuals would include your beans and peas (soybeans/cowpeas)---these are super palatable and will really add the protein needed for antler growth. As far as perennials you can't go wrong with clovers, alfalfa, trefoil, and chicory--all provide lots of protein during the antler growing and fawning season. Turnips and other brassicas are more of a late season food and do provide both good carbs and protein but by the time antler season arrives they are usually flowering out and not too palatable.
  4. call the Whitetail institute---they have always been very helpful on the phone with me. They will also answer e-mails.
  5. you might check with your local co-op or DNR--they could probably help you with what works best in your area. Your DNR should have a biologist on staff to answer questions--local farm feed and seed stores can also be a great resorce.
  6. mid to late May would probably not be a good idea--even where you are located. I don't know what your average summer temps or rainfall is but your plants will be mighty young when summer hits with a VERY shallow root system---you'd be better off waiting until early fall and planting the clover with a nurse crop such as wheat.
  7. as much as he makes he should be on fire all the time:)

  13. Evolved Habitats make a great product. I used to use the shot plot brassica mix before I started using Martin's winter mix. You will be pleased!
  14. sweet little spot--i like those long narrow plots. good luck to you and your daughter!
  15. i'm not a big fan of planting perennials in the spring but if you have irrigation then you could probably get away with it and have success.
  16. it may take a little while for them to find it--mineral use can be very seasonal and hit or miss. If your deer need the minerals more than likely when they find it they will use it often--especially during spring and summer.
  17. hold your control key down and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to change the resolution. So--while holding the contol key on the keyboard down turn the scroll wheel on your mouse up for a larger resolution and down for a smaller resolution.

    How stupid...TSC

Clay is correct--corn prices are going to go up do to the ethenol production--also going up is the price of fertilizer--lots of farmers are planting more corn due to the increase in the corn prices and corn requires lots of nitrogen--I'm paying more for fertilizer for the food plots. Plant some food plots and give up the corn feeders---feed more deer and less raccoons.
  19. I performed my first Frozen AI (Artificial Insemination) technique on a lab ***** about 2 months ago and last weekend she delivered 11 healthy puppies. I don't get too nervous about doing vet procedures but if you knew the cash the breeder put out to get this done anyone would be nervous doing this. You should have seem my hands shake as I was transferring $1000 worth of sperm out of a tiny straw into a syringe---Luckily I didn't spill it on the floor:) Here are the results:
