It all depends on your deer numbers and the amount of other natural foods. If your property is short on food but has decent numbers then an acre can get gobbled up pretty quick. William is correct--when I used to plant cowpeas I always added some sorghum into the mix to allow the peas to climb. This really increases their ability to produce forage. The problem occurs when the deer nip 'em right out of the ground in the seedling stage.

The crazy guy may have been trying to attack her. He chased her and then jumped in the back of the truck. If someone was trying to attack me and jumped in the back of my truck you can bet I would start driving like crazy to try to toss him out. Crazy story--maybe a few more facts will come out in the next few days.

You ought to think about doing hinge cuttings on them. Hinge cutting will keep part of the tree alive and really increases your cover. Our cedar trees are red cedars and the deer don't mess with them too much. They are invasive and I try to cut them down as much as possible.

This is funny! Does shooting a turkey with his head on your property and the rest of his body on the neighbors count? This dang turkey would not cross the fence but kept sticking his head thru the wire to attempt to cross but was hesitant. I watched this for 10 minutes. Finally when he stretched his head through the wire I shot. His head though was on my property. Man--I feel better now. This has been bothering me for years:bang:

The size of your plot will determine what you can plant. Soybeans and cowpeas provide some great high protein warm season food but will not stand high browsing pressure. If you can plant 2 to 3 acres then I would strongly recommend soybeans or cowpeas. My favorite is the Eagle Seed Soybeans. These soybeans produce the most forage as any other bean/pea. Absolutely amazing.

The more cover the safer the deer feel. I think it would be a great idea!

Headed out with a good friend to my duck pond. Arrived to a solid sheet of ice over the entire pond. We spent about 20 minutes busting out 1" ice to put a few decoys out. By 8:30 we both had our limit. Worked some large groups of big birds. Very easy shots. todd

sorry guy. I have lived in apartments while I was in college. Now I love to blow my goose call and duck call with the best of them but if I knew it was bothering another tenant then I wouldn't do it in the apartment. PS--I have had my wife throw stuff at me while practicing at home. Those calls are very loud in enclosed areas.
