  1. lots of babies around the duck ponds--ducks and geese.
  2. i will say that I have been guilty of turning my attention to the kids at time---90% of the time it's because they are fighting. Most to the time I just yell at them to cut it out but occasionally I have turned around to see what's going on.
  3. i agree the parents should be help responsible. That is something that can easily be avoided.
  4. me thinks so too! plot looks great!

  8. can you load a thousand pounds or so in a trailer or the back of a truck? Powdered lime is a mess to deal with though. I guess pay the 300 bucks---it will be worth it in the long run. todd
  9. married in August---two kids June and July. My entire hunting season is clear!!!!!
  10. If this has been posted before sorry! Sick Mule A carload of hunters, looking for a place to hunt, pulled into a farmers yard. The driver went up to the farmhouse to ask permission to hunt. The old farmer said, "Sure you can hunt, but would you do me a favor? That old mule standing over there is 20 years old and sick with cancer, but I don't have the heart to kill her. Would you do it for me?" The hunter said, "Sure," and headed for the car. While walking back, however, he decided to pull a trick on his hunting buddies. He got into the car and when they asked if the farmer had said OK, he said "No, we can't hunt here, but I'm going to teach that old cuss a lesson." With that, he rolled down his window, stuck his gun out and blasted the mule. As he exclaimed, "There, that will teach him!" a second shot rang out from the passenger side. And, one of his hunting buddies shouted, "I got the cow!"
  11. couple of years ago I was cleaning out silt and crap in my pond--we were in a severe drought so there wasn't much water in the pond. I had the box blade on and I hit a wet spot and sunk. I too called the neighbor and he brought his big tractor and pulled me out. good luck with the plot todd
  12. congrats--have fun and enjoy.
  13. I'm going to go fill up right now--thanks for making me feel better.
  14. you will lose all your nitrogen if you put it down a month before planting. I'd get the lime down immediately but I wouldn't recommend putting the fertilizer down until planting--but heck, those guys at the whitetail institute know more than me.
  15. Two seasons ago--sat in the bow stand for about 6 hours without seeing anything so I decided to walk to a different area and attempt a stalk on a food plot. When I arrived I noticed two hogs rooting up turnips on the plot. I had to circle about 200 yards down wind to get a shot. I was able to get within about 30 yards--the last bit of cover. I only had 3 arrows in my quiver. As I stood to shoot the lead hog noticed something wasn't just right and slowly started moving away. The bag hog followed so I took the shot. The first shot was a little back (liver) so I nocked another arrow--by this time they were close to 40 to 50 yards. I aimed high and hit the pig again in the chest. The pig just grunted and stopped. I didn't get great penetration so I let my last arrow fly. Another good hit. This time the pig took off running in the woods. As she was running one of the arrows hit a tree and fell out. I ran and picked up the arrow then watched the hog with my binoculars. The pig ran 100 yards--I could see blood everywhere. I watched the pig for a few minutes thinking it would fall but it never did. I then nocked the arrow that fell out--snuck within 35 yards and shot again. This time I got good penetration and the hog finally died within a minute. This was one tough hog! todd
  16. congrats to all who have scored. I hunted by butt off--twice a week during the season and finally heard my first gobble this last weekend. He was a long ways off and I couldn't call him in. My season ended today so I didn't help the team out at all! sorry and good luck to the rest of you still hunting. todd
  17. you gonna need A LOT of lime my friend. How big is your plot? If it's going to be a large plot you can hire someone to spread the lime for you. You might check around with local farmers or your local co-op to find suppliers of lime.
  18. they are beautiful!!!
  19. Are those your mounts?
  20. helical will sure help but it sounds to me you need to get your bow properly tuned.
  21. Just wondering if anyone has tried this new peep. Looks like a great peep for lowlight shooting. A lot of my hunting is heavy Oak cover so I lose about 15 minutes of hunting time due to not being able to see thru my peep. Kind of pricey but I'd try it if anyone has any good feedback. http://www.sternerduttera.com/ss.asp thanks todd
