  1. Well I'll be the devil's advocate here-don't make this contest like our society today-too many laws and not enough justice. If you want to punish the no shows-punish them. adding an arbitrary post count or time on the board doesn't really mean much-some members say more in five posts than others say in five hundred. inane forum chatter doesn't make you a more worthy forum member than somebody who is too busy making a living or god forbid HUNTING to be on here as much. Some of us have big families and dial up connections lol. As for the prizes I'd say keep them-not to belittle them but they aren't all that big a dealbut still nice to get some recognition I guess-a realtree shirt with winners name on it would be good. Bottomline is deal with who needs dealing with insteaf making more rules for everybody else.
  2. superguide Jr.and I have been so busy with hockey that we haven't been on much this winter. In fact I just discovered this thread today lol. He didn't get much time to hunt this year between football and hockey but he put alot of miles on before catching up to that big mulie. I'm going to be a bit biased and vote for my kid lol. There were alot of great bucks shot this year for sure!!
  3. The Sens dressing rom is sick-they have a culture of losing there and need to make some moves to address it-I think Emery is the cancer.Superguide Jr's AA team was wallowing 2-10-1 at the start of the year-we cut 4 players fixed our dressing room a only lost one game out of next 11. It's not always about talent.
  4. you give a good old Saskatchewan a puck and an empty net-it's goaltime lol. Good for him-i'm sure he can use the cash.
  5. I think the coldest it got here was -67 with the windchill-it was brisk for sure-real hard on stock.
  6. Superguide jr. had an 85 milke an hour slapshot last year in our local skills competition when he was a 15 year old-he's definately not on the juice lol. Even an old fossil like me can rip it with those new sticks.
  7. some good bucks made it through the season-my buddy has found two sets in the high 170's. Ty has two sets already one itty bitty but one nice young deer in the mid 140's. lots of snow here already.
  8. Well Simon got 30 games which gave another Meadow Lake boy-Blake Comeau-his chance. Got an assist and the game winner against Pittsburgh tonight-he's a classy guy good on him. Check out two more Meadow Lake boys on You Tube-Jon Mirasty and Jeremy Yablonski have a megatilt in the AHL. our little town is a hockey factory for sure.
  9. A tough winter is very hard on the bigger bucks for sure-when you see how beat up they are after the rut it's amazing that any make it at all. There;'s less of them for sure-maybe not one behind every tree but the beauty of hunting in Sask.is that one just might show up under your tree. This winter isn't really starting out well for the deer either. Alot of Sask. residants don't or won't even participate in the CWD hunts.
  10. I'm pretty sure it was before the Little Big Horn unless that's a picture of Custer's ghost. If you are ever in Montana you should visit the Custer Battlefield-it's gives you a weird feeling as you walk around t and visualize that day in history.
  11. it would be similar or better than my Vari x I i bought over 30 years ago and it's been a real good scope. You really can't go to far wrong witrh a Leupold. They have models that cost alot more but not sure if you wpould reallky notice alot of difference in a hunting situation. bring your gun out some day and we'll give her a try.
  12. I just found a picture of Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer with a nice bull elk that he shot in 1873. It sold this summer for $44,850. http://www.cowanauctions.com/view_item.asp?itemid=45169
  13. Head out someday Braun and check out ty's T3 in 25.06-I shot a buck and a doe with it this fall both t about 300 yards it folded them right up.
  14. Just finished some fresh tenderloin made gutting her out in -30 this A'M not so bad. Were officially tagged out.
  15. Well there you have it I don't feel so bad now. Try out that recipe in the new Field and Stream-it shows you how to smoke a deer loin in your wok or a roaster-it's TASTY.

    Sinful

I shot a big yearling doe tonight and Ty fried the backstraps up-he coats them in lemon pepper. Anything that tastes that good has got to be sinful.
  17. Sara only had after school today to hunt so we went out in the -25 with a stiff wind. This 3x3 wandered out at 150 yards and she smoked him with her .243-he's a bit bigger than last years deer.
  18. Belak is a real character-his Dad is a brand inspector up here and his little brother used to play senior hockey for our hometown. I'm predicting another one goal outburst before the Vancouver Olympics lol.
  19. Leaf nation can rest easy now Belak's slump is over-his interview after the game was priceless.
  20. Of course Muggs who needs four downs to go ten yards lol. No if we had the NFL athletes playing CFL rules it would be a perfect world lol.
  21. If Brady would take off with the football once in awhile it just might work too-I guess I'm a bit spoiled from watching CFL football which is quite a bit more exciting-we actually run back kicks etc lol. My fearless p[rediction is the Steelers will beat New England-the Pats have that record in the back of their mind and are squeezing the football.
  22. Not too shabby-Sara's the only one lefty with a buck tag inour house so were still looking.
  23. Dj's parents just got back from a visit-they got to meet the team and tour the St. Louis dressing room. Pretty sweet deal I'm thinking. D.J's little sister is tearing it up at the U of S women's team.
  24. It was thirty below today and the bucks were running does like crazy. I took my youngest daughter Emily out hunting after school and she spotted this guy in a treeline with a doe. dad didn't screw up and I got this nice 5x4.
