    Near Miss

We camped in the wagon barns-Ty was up at 5'00 exercising horses then wasn't done cooling them out till 11'00 or so at night so the days were pretty long. Hotels in Calgary can be pretty spendy that's for sure!!!

    Near Miss

Here's a pic of the saddle bronc Ty rode in Calgary-I always hate to see that rodeo end it's such a good deal.
  4. He had a good day today won a rodeo then we drove an hour and he picked up second at another-just didn't draw a rank enough horse at the second deal. We head for New Mexico on Tuesday.
  5. Yeah Ty got him covered and 'Near Miss' his saddle bronc the next day-he actually won both days but didn't carry on to the short go-he can ride novice four more years so he's got some more chances. He's only been on 20 bareback horses in his life so he'll get better-you need a 100 or so before things really start to click. Were off to Farmington, New Mexico on Tuesday so pretty excited about that. The Calgary Stampede is incredible-EVERYBODY should go see it once. The chuckwagons make NASCAR look pretty tame. I never did get past the buck chutes or the wagon barns the time I was there lol. I guess I missed out on the bright lights but that's ok.

    Zorro Bandit

This is definately superguide jr's rodeo career highlight so far. He drew a Stampede legend-the old hoss has slowed down some but still a handfull for a 17 year old.
  7. The Calgary Stampede on 641 on a Bell satellite dish? Superguide Jr. was up on July 6th and 7th and got all three horse rode. Pretty cool beans getting to ride at the Calgary Stampede. You can even see his portly old Dad behind the buck chutes lol. Ty got to ride 'Zorro Bandit' kind of a legendary old bronc-they won the $50,000 on him three times so Jr. was pumped to get him covered.
  8. You don't confront young refs-that's why there is zero tolerance for it in minor hockey. You make a written complaint to his head ref and let them handle it. Right or wrong the ump or ref is in charge of the game-even if you are totally in the right it isn't proper behavior by a coach.
  9. Ty had a good weekend -won a jackpot and a set of trophy spurs.
  10. Well buddy I'll be the devils advocate here-first don't quit coaching over some bad officiating-I've probably coached 4-500 hockey games and it happens from time to time. Next time call a time out and get her to tuck her shirt in before she bats-I'm a fat old man and I can survive a hot day with my shiort tucked in. Don't quit coaching-just learn to bank the fire once in awhile-if I can do it you can too. If the ump was a real problem-send in a written complaint to your baseball association-I've had to do it once in awhile over hockey reffs.
  11. A huge deer dresses 250 pounds lol.
  12. We just found out Ty is up in Calgary on July 6th and &th-stay tuned lol.
  13. Ty is up in Calgary on July 6th so he might get on the tube if he makes a good ride. Pretty pumped about riding in front of 20,000 people.
  14. Here's superguide jr. on 'Nashville Star'. He's having a good spring-he is the provincial Highschool saddle bronc champ and is heading to the high school national finals in bareback and saddle bronc in Farmington, New Mexico from 7/20-28. He won the rodeo on this horse on Sunday. If any of you are close by to Farmington were staying at the Best Western.
  15. http://ranchers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26083 Here is superguide jr. last weekend-he won the season in highschool saddle bronc and is second in bareback. He just has to win the finals in ten days or so. He's going to High School National Finals in Farmington, New Mexico in June.
  16. Lots of moose in this area it seems. We still have some good bear hitting baits and something I've never seen before-three timberwolves are hitting one too.
  17. Ty shot this nice chocolate bear last night with his Martin Sabre-he blew a 100 grain Montec G5 right through him. We left him and went out at 5'00 A'M and tracked him down. Ty's hunting buddy Cody is like a bloodhound and after 300 yards we found him piled up in some thick spruce. He is a beautiful bear-I'm pretty sure he'll make Pope and Young.
  18. Ty got this nice chocolate bear last night and we tracked him down this A'M. He blew a 100 grain Montec G5 right through him. Haven't measured him yet but I'm pretty sure he'll make pope and young. He's a beautiful bear though.
  19. I don't think the deer wintered quite as hard as people think-there's 100's of them running around right now.
  20. When you see the Sens captain break his stick and have to tape one up during the game that says it all about whats wrong with the Sens. That's a no no in prenovice hockey. time for a new coach or some big trades-they should of dumped a forward and kept Chara-you win cups from the goalie out not from the forwards back.
  21. Any rodeo cowboy if tougher than all of them.
  22. You the man-ty only got about a dozen this year-too much hockey. Are there ever lots of fox though.he snared a timber wolf on that fenceline we called from the first time you were up.
  23. The bear bait of choice up here is beaver but they will come into most anything tasty. most people use a barrel with a small hole in it-chained to a tree. It's a good way to judge bear size also.Superguide Jr.trys to bait everyday if possible. Another way to judge bear size is to nail a can of sardines quite aways up a tree-you can judge bear size but how high they can claw at it. Bears will usually graze grass for a week or so before they really start to hit baits up in our country.
  24. Why not make him eat it beak and all on live TV that would probably get the message across-if we start hanging people for stupidity the world wouldn't have to worry about overpopulation.
