It's all relative, like arvelocity said. It'll be more forgiving when it comes to judging distance, because it will be flatter. Both speeds will easily kill what you're hunting in the U.S. I'd just pick a bow that's comfortable and smooth, and practice a lot! Good luck, Ryan

There are tons of companies that make long sleeved shirts with Realtree patterns. I do a lot of shopping on basspro.com or in Bass Pro and Redhead magazines. You could also just go to Dick's, Gander Mountain, or most other outdoor stores and check out their apparel section. If you're looking for a shirt just like in the link, there's actually a picture of one of the Road Trips jackets towards the bottom right of that Scent Blocker page you have (on the bottom right). I would check out the Realtree Road Trips gear to find what you're looking for. Hopefully this helps! Take care, Ryan

I would go with Hoytbowhunter and look into the cable leaches. They're made specifically for your need. Good luck! Ryan

Awesome! That's always a nervous feeling knowing that there's a slight chance that you'll be denied a chance! Good luck :-) Ryan

Some suggestions for broadheads are Muzzy, G5 (Strikers, Montecs, Tekans), Rage, Thunderhead...just some to try. For treestands, I've had good luck with Gorilla and Ameristep, but I haven't really heard many bad things with any. As far as clothing, I usually buy from Bass Pro or Redhead, but just make sure you get something that's quiet. I like fleece on the outside layer. Also make sure that you have something for an outer layer that's water resistent if need be! Since some other people commented on boots, I'll have to put in a good word for Rocky and Wolverine. I would highly recommend getting something with GoreTex (outer layer). These are just suggestions, so just shop around and you'll figure out what you like the best and what's most comfortable to you. One rule of thumb I've found to keep in mind is that, for the most part, you get what you pay for. That's not always true, so don't pass up a great deal, but you deserve to be warm and dry, so spend what you need to accomplish that! Good luck! Take care, Ryan

That deer picture is awesome...nice deer, but huge eyes! Haha!

I heard from a shop owner that camo arrows fly on average 5 feet per second slower than regular black arrows. For that reason, I've bought black arrows in the past. Has anyone researched this at all and have evidence? Thanks! Ryan

Think about it this way...if you are shooting 40 yards across flat ground, with the arrow starting parallel to the ground, say your arrow drops 12 inches from where it starts. If you shoot 40 yards down at an 89 degree angle (almost straight down), your arrow isn't going to end up 12 inches "below" where it starts. That would mean that it almost went backwards or something. It would also get there faster shooting straight down, because gravity is working with it instead of against it. This is obviously an exaggerated example, but it demonstrates the theory. I'm definitely not trying to argue with you at all...I'm just thinking out loud to see if we can get on the same page :-) Thanks for your help in working this out! I'm thinking about contacting a physics professor or something! Take care, Ryan

I'll agree with the majority. Mossy Oak is too dark. The clothes I usually wear turkey hunting are admittedly Mossy Oak, but I'm usually in some brushy area with a lot of shadows. If I could flip a switch and make it Realtree APG I would! I'm sticking with Realtree-great selection and patterns for all situations. Good luck, Ryan By the way, WELCOME to the forums! I'm sure you'll find it very useful!

The first thing I thought when reading your email was Muzzy 75 or 90 grains. Outdoorlife3 made a great point (no pun intended!) with the G5 Strikers or Montecs. I shoot Montecs, but if I had a son with your situation I would probably get him Strikers. They're less expensive, and you can buy replacement blades for them. I might go with them next time I buy broadheads. That's awesome that he's doing so well shooting! Tell him not to take it easy on any of those guys at the range! Good luck! Ryan

Many companies make vests with Realtree camo on them. I would just go to basspro.com or cabelas.com and type vest in the search box. Or you could just look on ebay for Realtree Camo Vest and I'm sure you'd have many come up! As far as the different patterns, AP HD is perfect for treestand hunting, and APG is perfect for early season bowhunting and spring turkey hunting. You probably wouldn't want to buy different clothes with different patterns, so if it was up to me, I'd stick with the AP HD. That's what I've gotten the last couple times I've bought any piece of clothing. Good luck! Ryan

29" and 60#s. I always keep it there. I'm very comfortable with it. I've heard that you should be able to pull your bow straight back(without pointing it towards the sky) while sitting on a chair with your legs straight in front of you off the ground. You don't want to hurt yourself anymore, so I would decrease it for this season. I know somebody that hurt their shoulder and couldn't hunt for an entire season...he was devastated. Better safe than sorry! Good luck! Ryan

I'll shoot 40 yards unless there's a really strong wind. I practice at 50 yards, so if I felt so inclined and there was absolutely no wind I might try to squeeze one off, but probably not! Good luck :-) Ryan

The pathagorean theorum wouldn't account for gravity though. I thought that was one of the main variables that made these rangefinders helpful. I've always heard that if you're shooting up or down at an angle, you'll have to shoot for less yardage. Keep the responses coming! Thanks! Ryan

I know this has been discussed a bit, but I just had a question. I read a review of the Leupold rangefinder that shows the "ballistic distance" and the Bushnell with ARC to account for shooting from a treestand. One of them said that this information is useless when shooting faster bows, and that it will only matter on slow shooting bows. Is this true? Is this surefire physics? I'm thinking about getting one, but not if it doesn't necessarily work. Thanks a lot! Take care, Ryan

Our farm is right by Briarwood in Schuyler Co, IL. It's a high fence operation owned by Jack Brittingham I believe. My buddy and I have jokingly contemplated taking wire cutters and cutting a hole in the fence so people aren't hunting at a zoo anymore. I watched a show about them that showed a huge buck that they BOUGHT from a breeder and turned loose to breed does. That's not hunting. Take care, Ryan

Thanks! Looks good :-)

I've noticed that and tried to take advantage of it. Another trick is to tie the top two wires of the fence together where you want them to cross in order to make it a shorter jump. I caught that on a video or the Outdoor Channel one time. Give it a try! Good luck, Ryan

How do you (or would I) plan on filling it? Would you just leave it there for when it rains? That might be a dumb question, but I'm thinking about doing the same thing! Good luck, Ryan

As mentioned before, "baiting" is illegal in Illinois. We have food plots, and we leave about an acre of standing corn by one of our stands. I use any kind of call I can get my hands on in what I think is the right situation, but I don't bait deer like you mean it. (I don't think anyway). Take care, Ryan

Hey all...Just sat at the computer and watched Ebay for a while and bought a new sight and rest. Trophy Ridge for both, which happens to be a coincidence, but I do like their products. I got the camo Dropzone rest and 5 .019 pin Guide Series Matrix. Hoping they get here soon! I was wondering what was on everyone else's preseason wish list! I always end up spending too much money before the season starts...I guess it's just the bug. Here's the rest of my list: Under Armour camo liner gloves Mini Limb Savers Fleece long underwear pants Alpine Archery tree screw in quiver holder G5 Meta Peep What's on your list? Take care, Ryan

They're alot more photogenic when they're young aren't they!? Very cool experience. I had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago. Take care, Ryan

I was looking for a good website to look at product reviews. I've seen a few that just have choice products, but not many. Any type of "top picks" list or "hot list" (like in Golf Digest for those of you who golf) would be helpful. Thanks! Ryan

Awesome! I'll probably check out the RT900 and 1000...heard a lot of people talk about them. Have fun with your new toys, and don't hit your nose on the window too many times :-) Take care, Ryan

That's pretty cool! It's awesome that you got a good deal and that they were so good to her. Will she hunt this year? My girlfriend wants to start shooting my old PSE, so I might end up getting her a new one if she likes it :-) Let us know how it goes! Take care, Ryan
