Re: O.K. scientists................. [ QUOTE ] Actually liquids can freeze at higher temperatures it pressure is increased. Water freezes at 32 F at 1 atmosphere of pressure. So in a high pressure situation it will freeze at a higher temp. Also the specific heat capacity of certain substances such as metal and glass allow them to hold temperatures differently. [/ QUOTE ] This is the right answer.

Re: NRA.........this guys is making it hand over f This is what the animal folks report. Animal People News Ingrid Newkirk reports LESS THAN HALF the salary of her vice president for PETA. Will the IRS PLEASE AUDIT HER!!! Also PLEASE NOTE they consider the CANCER SOCIETY as an opposing group. Yep that's right they consider cancer research not only less important than animal rights but the face of the enemy. In fact, they are at the top of the list. Know anybody that has cancer who is giving to HSUS or PETA? They are digging their own grave, and taking alot of folks that know better with them. Honestly I'm fine with Lapierre having a salary that gives him incentive to put up with what he does (I'm sure it's plenty) and fight the good fight. I also don't think he's stuffing the mattress like Newkirk is.

Re: Why? [ QUOTE ] Shot my bow this evening, barely a breeze if any at all. Arrows didn't go to the right as much but still going there a little bit, but they were shooting very consistent. Now out at 30 yards they were hitting consistent but hitting about 5-6 inches from the center of the target. Is it normal for the arrows to hit farther right the farther out I'm shooting? I'm going to shoot tomorrow after work and maybe see if it's my form, but all the arrows are hitting the same place, just to the right. In fact I just about robin hooded an arrow - the one arrow hit and cracked the nock on the other arrow so it looks like I'll have to run to theb ow shop to get it replaced. I was wondering - how do you consistently keep your same anchor point? The only thing I remember is that I have the string just on the side of the tip of my nose but I'm trying to find out if I can dosomething else to maybe keep a more consistent anchor? [/ QUOTE ] I'm betting an inconsistent anchor is to blame. Lots of beginning bowhunters have "Floating" anchors. What I mean by that is you only anchor in the same spot when you start a shooting session at the range. Putting a kisser button below your peep helps cure that problem. Remember the other end of your anchor is in your grip hand. Gripping just a 1/4" off center will easily move your arrows left of right as much as three inches at 20yds. If you concentrate on gripping the bow in the same spot and anchoring in the same spot these mysteries go away

Re: What broadhead do you shoot? This is absolutely the biggest critter I've ever stuck with an arrow. I was using a G5 Montec. This Kudu weighed well over 600lbs. As far as I'm concerned that head is good for deer to elk For deer sized game I also like Rocket Sidewinders. They make a BIG hole. Gonna try some Stricknines next.

Re: To bait or not to bait [ QUOTE ] I have hunted nearly 16 years and I cannot break the habit of baiting for Whitetails. I watch alot of the Realtree shows and never see a bait pile for Whitetails. What is the right philosophy? I hunt near corn crops at one hunting location so the food source is already there. Maybe waiting until the crops are down to start baiting? Using molassas corn rather then regular feild corn? Help me out of this predicament. I am tired of the expense with somewhat meager results. Generally bucks don't go to the bait piles anyway except in the middle of the night, as I noticed on my scouting camera. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the frank and honest question concerning baiting. The mentality that it's a slam dunk and sure meat in the freezer is absolutely not true. Which I am sure you are WELL aware of. It only takes a couple hunts and deer eat bait only at night. That's the reality of it. That's the truth. If anyone doesn't believe me come to South Carolina where you can legally shoot one buck a day from Aug 15th to Jan1st sitting over a pile of corn and prove me wrong. If it was really such as sure thing there'd not be a deer left in this state. I understand when you hear hunting over bait referred to as "cheating" from other states where it is not legal actually makes it intimidating not to do so. That's because you can work your butt off to kill a deer over bait and can't imagine working harder to get one. I'm gonna tell you absolutely, it ain't harder, don't be scared. Since it's legal, where you hunt. Find alternate natural food sources and continue baiting. Just don't limit your hunts to over bait only. Your success rate will definately go up. IME, any food source that is hunter pressured, rapidily results in nocturnal only feeding. But identifying the natural food sources as they become available gives you a whole lot more options.

Re: New shotgun opinions [ QUOTE ] Benelli SBE - Berretta Xtrema or Browning Gold. What do you guys think? [/ QUOTE ] Any one of those is very good. You can get by with a cheaper gun but if you do alot of shotgunning you'll be sorry.

Re: The luckiest guinea in the world (big file) They taste a little like pheasant to me. They are kinda tough but tasty. Skinned and marinated in Italien dressing and then grilled does them up well. There was loads of them where I was hunting and the guy I was with said shoot all you want. PS. I only missed that one

Re: Heavy or light Broadheads??? I'm going to a heavier head myself because of some recent experience. If you have the right spined arrows. FOC is the most crucial thing for good broadhead flight and a more predictable penetration path. Low FOCs are more apt to turn in the animal during penetration than higher ones. This is what causes a quartering shot to exit the animal from an unexpected angle. Lots of folks think it is because the animal turned real fast when the arrow hit. I used to think that too. Based on some recent video I shot it's pretty apparent the arrow completely penetrated and actually turned before the animal reacted. I'm certain FOC plays a part in this.

Re: Bowtech Extreme vft That's got one of Bowtechs "Post Solo Cams" on it They are smoking fast. The brace height on that bow is pretty short. An STS helps alot.

Re: What\'s a steenbok Actually Cindy Garrison shot a Peter's Duiker. The pigmies actually call them in making distress calls. Like coyote hunting! Ironically, she was in South Carolina when I was in Africa. (Maybe she knew I was coming ) Duiker's do eat insects and small animals when they catch them. I did shoot a common bush duiker. And as far as duikers go. This one's a whopper. If you missed the picture first time around. I'll post it here. They look like a spike whitetail with a mohawk.
