Re: Converting music to MP3 Question [ QUOTE ] Leo the NEW "Creative Labs" Creative Sound Blaster Extigy which is a USB device, automatcally coverts anolog to digital... A couple of great programs for ripping and burning are MusicMatch, Sound Forge and the Vinyl Restoration plug-in.... I have ripped a couple of my old KISS Albums with NO problem at all.. but needless to say the necessary hardware isn't cheap.... [/ QUOTE ] WAV and WMA are both digital formats. Any sound card input will convert analog to those digital formats automatically. Then you can convert the uncompressed file to MP3. If the XTIGY records directly to MP3 format that's neat. That's a time saver for sure.

Re: Converting music to MP3 Question As far as I know. LPs must be recorded to wav format first and then converted from wav to mp3. I've never seen software that records directly to MP3 format from an analog input. There might be some. I've just never seen it. There is no magic LP ripper. It's all real time recording thru your line in or mic port. And it is time consuming. Google "Audacity" that might just what you are looking for.

Re: Calling all computer geeks Sounds like your boot sector got blistered. Either a virus or a power surge/drop. Honestly, I've seen way more computers get this condition from a power surge/drop than any other reason. An APC battery backup is worth it, especially if your area has "dirty" power. (this is what makes the VCR clock blink 12:00 all the time) The good news is if it was a power surge/drop the boot sector is likely where the majority of the damage is. That means you got a good chance at getting your data back and it may only cost you a new hard drive. Moon is right you can probably get the data you want off the hard drive by piggy backing it in another system. But if you're not particularly computer savvy that's gonna be real tough to walk you through. Don't try and tackle this if you're scared of opening the case and poking around in there. Most towns have computer stores with their own resident "GURUS". Seek them out. It'll cost you, but less than a new computer.

Re: That hurt.... Deep internal bleeding is dangerous. If it's more than a bruise get it looked at. Hope it's not more serious than a bruise. A buddy of mines horse kicked another horse in the side of the head and killed it instantly. The kicker was a pretty docile horse too. I'd ridden that gelding plenty of times. It could have been real real bad for you. Count your blessings and thank God.

Walt got the big one 7 1/2lbs. Rog stands there in envy. I was behind the camera. Gotta love bassing in the south in November.

Re: boot blankets [ QUOTE ] The artic sheilds fit nicely in your backpack. Here is a tip for you. Once you are settled in to your spot take off your boots, throw a heater pack in each bootie and slide your feet into them. Your feet will stay warm and dry. I actually got this idea from David Blanton years ago. [/ QUOTE ] That's a seriously good tip!

Re: Camping out for Playstation 3? Last yr there were about 16,000 PS2s on EBAY after the release. Sure some sold for outrageous profit. But I bet not all 16,000 did Some folks never learn

Re: Hey mechanics! [ QUOTE ] Yeah, I go through u-joints pretty regular with this truck, but it's never caused this kind of problem. Those and the carrier bearing seem to the consensus culprit from the shade tree mechanics here at work and everyone on here. Ben [/ QUOTE ] Yep the u-joints are for sure the prime culprit. But if you have done this before and the u-joints are wearing out quick. That's a PROBLEM and indicates something else is wrong. It means either your carrier bearing (or spicer) is most likely bad and it could also mean the spline in the driveshaft is worn out (bad problem). You'd be wise to get them both checked out.

Re: where my disabled daughter works Sounds like most of the stuff they took they plan on selling. Cash is what thieves usually want. And they usually want it for drugs. Strangely, they probably targeted a disabled work place on purpose, hoping they could get some "medication" left there by the employees. Hope this robbery gets some press and they can recover some of the stolen property. Recovering that stuff is the best bet for tracking these jerks down. I would bet that's a desparate group of dopers that did the deed. Glad no one was there and got hurt.

Re: Peep alternatives? I like the NO-PEEP myself. You can easily use the NO-PEEP along with a kisser button. In fact I recommend doing that to get used to the NO-PEEP. Draw, center the NO-PEEP, Concentrate on not letting the kisser move, AIM and FIRE! This combo and method works very well for me.

Re: Pins or Pendulum? Stick with pins and learn how to shoot from an elevated position. In my experience a pendulum can really cause you grief if you hunt a hillside or different stand heights.

Re: this or that I'd give the code blue the nod if those two choices are your only options. If you can get a tarsal from a fresh killed doe. That's the best. Often if you hang around the deer processors you can get one, but don't expect to get it free

Re: Scrapes in the rain? IMO right after a rain is the BEST time to hunt a scrape. Bowhunting in the rain, however isn't a good idea.

Re: video taping The hunter also plays a major part in the video being good enough. If he shoots before the camera is on the game there is NO HOPE

Re: Flashlight? Hope you learn from my experience. Extra batteries are a no-brainer. I always did that, no problem right? Wrong! You can change batteries in the dark but NOT bulbs! Flashlight bulbs DO fail and when they do, all the extra batteries in the world can't help. Buddy let me tell ya, I was in the middle of unfamiliar woods in the dark when it happened to me. NOT FUN! A radio and staying put saved my butt. Carry TWO lights with you. One might be just one of those disposable jobs but it's better than nothing. IMHO, the absolute best flashlight value period is Surefire's G2 Nitrolon. Extremely bright and powerful. Just make sure to unscrew the cap until the button won't work anymore, when you store it and the batteries last alot longer. The batteries are spendy but worth it for the brightest flashlight for under $40 you can get your hands on

Re: Inferior genetics? As stated by others already. 50% of a buck genetic potential comes from an antlerless moma. You also need nutrition and age to produce mature bucks. Sure there are those exceptional 1st and 2nd year 8 and 10ptrs, but if you have antler point restrictions guess what gets shot? The best way to up the average age and size of the bucks on your property is not to shoot any bucks off it for a year or two, implement supplemental feeding during the hard months in the off season and take as many does as the law allows. Then strive to only shoot bucks that are 3 1/2yrs or older. That's an extremely unpopular way to go, I know but it produces results better than anything.

Re: Worst enemies Wanna see expensive? Look at how much hunters pay in some other countries. By comparison the privilege comes dirt cheap in the U.S. No matter how you slice it. There is still "FREE" land to hunt here. If the alternative did not exist the prices would be astronomical.
