Re: Reminton ACCUTIP Be careful, to not make assumptions. Not all polymer tipped bullets are the same. As AJ pointed out Hornady has Interbonds, Nosler has Accubond and Ballistic Tip (And they are different) and then of course there is Scirrocco. There's more out there. But please believe that the plastic tip alone is NO guarantee of performance. I don't know for sure who makes the accutip bullets. Maybe someone here knows.

Re: deer feeders and coons! Raccoons are the Number #1 destroyer of Turkey nests. They eat more eggs than anything else, (even coyotes) A little bit of population control on your raccoons is a good thing.

Re: cleaning turkey fans A wire brush in a drill helps that process. But be warned it'll make a mess out of the clothes your wearing and where ya do it  WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!

Re: Peas or Beans Austrian Winter peas do well down here in heat and filtered sunlight. Just be sure to protect the plants so they don't get browsed to the groung before they even start producing peas. They gotta be at least 14inches high before I would think about removing protection. Even after they are fully grown deer will eat the ENTIRE plant stems and all

Re: STS on Ross Bow On my Bowtech the less stuff that's on the string the better it works. That includes string silencers!! So my bow actually got quieter and faster. I wondered how I would do without the front stabilizer on. Works great! Since the Stabilizer weighed more than the STS the bow got lighter too. That's how it worked out on my setup anyhow. But based on that experience I would sure try it on any bow in the future.

Re: McAfee ???????? If you didn't completely unistall norton before you installed McAffee that can cause major problems. Anti-virus softwares don't work and play well with each other. Never ever have more than one installed a computer at the same time. Also your firewall settings can seriously cause headaches with AV programs. Norton and McAfee are both good programs.

Turkey season is over. I picked up my pop up blind that has been up for a month and a half today. Just pull some stakes fold it up and throw it in truck, right? So I'm taking this thing down. I should have known better. It's been up for 1 1/2 months. Dang spiders, built a web over one of the tie downs. I brush the webs away... Folks, an angel or God himself was watching over me. I'm seriously fortunate. Like I said "I shoulda known better." As I brushed away the annoying tangles from the tie down, suddenly out jumps a black widow. My hand was merely fractions of an inch from it Folks she absolutely could have got me. I am only writing this post now, because she didn't. Be careful picking up your popup blinds after turkey season. Lesson learned. Thankfully not the hard way. God bless and be careful folks.

Re: Peep sight alignment Honestly I'd stay away from D-Loops. String loops are far gentler on your bow. Peep alignment can drive you nuts even with a string loop. Been there done that. Silicone Tube alignment peeps work everytime but you will get some noise and speed loss from these. Honestly just for hunting Timberlines No-peep or a kisser are better options (Both work together rather nicely ). Low light is a peeps achilles heel and they have a particularly nasty habit of going out of alignment or being too hard to see thru right when your drawing on an animal. If you want to shoot dots, stick with the hassle of a peep. If you want to have one less thing to worry about while hunting, get rid of it

Re: Las Cruces, New Mexico Las Cruces is a pretty cool place Definately put in for an Orys hunt on White Sands (you'd be nuts not too) Western Texas is pretty close and there are quite a few antelope there. The Desert Mulies get mostly ignored cause everyones combing the mountains for elk Satellite Systems... Hmmm I remember when those guys were all about coding theory and algebraic error correction. Suddenly I feel much older.

Re: One mean crocodile! Crocs are way way meaner than gators. Saltwater Crocs are reputed to be the very meanest. Nile Crocs have the worst rep Nile Crocs

Re: Spray foam to repair Target? The trick is to stir it up while it's expanding. This increases the density and allows you to get enough in a foam target for it to work. I've used Great Stuff by Dupont before, but you got to stir it to break up the bubbles while it's expanding.

Re: Arrow weight question... Folks with a greater than 30" draw take note: The 5 grains per pound of draw is a good rule of thumb minimum for bows with 30" and under drawlength. If you have a 31" draw better make 365 grns your minimum. In my experience bows are quieter and arrows tipped with broadheads fly better with total arrow weights between 450 and 500grns. It is also quite possible to get good broadhead flight between 260 and 280fps with these arrows. But the closer you get to 280fps the harder it gets. Hope this helps.

Re: Removing limbsavers? If you're gonna sell the other bow. Just leave them on and get new ones.

Re: So far, not much luck So many turkey chasers blow their lungs out with a crow call to no avail. I've hunted plenty of public land where getting a shock gobble just wasn't going to happen the birds were conditioned so. Stop trying to scout an area so hard with your ears. Look for fresh feeding sign and bring the binoculars to glass the fields. When you figure out where the birds are and what they are doing. Everything comes together nicely

Re: Therma cell Putting one inside a tent blind will make your head ache and could be seriously dangerous. They produce some Carbon Monoxide since they burn fuel. Put it just outside the blind, they work great

Re: Carter Releases The quickie is one that has my interest lately. Looks like it would be a great hunting release.

Re: Drop away or Prong Style for Accuracy? I remember helical fletching clearance problems with prong rests. I also remember how sensitive they are to arrow straightness. Can't say I'll ever shoot one again. I'll stick with my Muzzy Zero Effect.

Re: STS for the Allegiance Put one on my Bowtech Extreme Solo a couple weeks ago. Not much hand shock difference cause that bow didn't have alot before anyhow. But! The balance is actually an improvement when I REMOVE my stabilizer. Cool! The bow just got lighter And! I removed the string silencers and the bow actually got quieter! The less stuff on the string the better the STS seems to work. The only thing on my bowstring is a kisser and a string loop. So my bow got faster, quieter and lighter after adding the STS. Gotta say I like it Definately, serve the string at the contact point. Besides doing that, installation is a breeze.
