  1. Re: Thank the LORD we got some rain.......... I heard, on this morning's news, that the weather patterns, contributing to the droughts and unusually warm temps. shows little signs of changing. <SORRY>
  2. Re: Winchester Lever action is it true ? I really can't imagine that there will be no more Winchester M-94's or Model 70's produced again. This is a big blow to the shooting & hunting sports. VERY SAD!
  3. Re: Winchester Guns I have a Winchester Model 43 bolt action in .25-20 Win. AND I PLAN TO KEEP IT!
  4. Re: WHERE DO YOU BUY YOUR... [ QUOTE ] Geez! That would be REALLY cheap for .410 shells up here, its hard to get 12ga shells for that price!! .410 shells up here run around $13/box! [/ QUOTE ] That $3.75 per box of 25 .410's, was back around 1963!
  5. Re: My experience with Hornady sabots I use and like the Hornady .452" 250 grain XTP bullets, along with 90 grains (Volume) of loose "777" FG fired by a 209 primer, in my T/C Black Diamond.

    Weird sounds

Re: Weird sounds Either a Bear or an Alien from a UFO ~ BOO~
  7. Re: How Many tags does your state give out a year? In Indiana we're allowed only one Buck. There are Counties that have Bonus Antlerless Tags but one has to pay for each Deer. $120.75 for Non-residents and Residents pay $24 per Deer. Also Indiana issues General Firearm license which covers Shotgun slug, Pistol, and M/L, the we have a Archery License, and a late M/L license we must purchase if we what to hunt all seasons.
  8. Re: WHERE DO YOU BUY YOUR... .410 shells have always been a Buck or so higher than other gauges. Same for the 28 gauge too. I remember when my Dad bought me a Savage Fox .410 double barrel, he had a couple boxes of 3" shells and I remember they were $3.75 per box. My Granddad paid about $2.75 for a box of 16 gauge shells.
  9. Re: COTW - .22 Hornet [ QUOTE ] I am in the process of working up a satisfactory load for my Winchester Hornet right now. I am relatively green at re-loading, so this is quite a challenge for a green-horn. I have noticed the problem spoken of in the first message of case head separation. In order to try to alleviate that excessive working of the brass, I have ordered a neck sizer die and will try neck sizing only to see if that helps. Doc [/ QUOTE ] Doc, If your Winchester .22 Hornet rifle happens to be a Model 43 or Model 70 then you'll need to use 45 grain High Velocity type bullets if you want to develop a small game load. I would use 6.0 grains of SR-4759 powder in Rem. cases and a 7 1/2 SR primer. For full loads I'd start with 296 powder or (if you can find) WW-680 powder and bullet weights from 35 grains to 46 grains. You'll need to work up slowly to your best load.
  10. Re: a Bush joke (no one get offeneded ) Funny!
  11. Re: winchester closing? I am just wondering how long it will be before who ever buys out Winchester, moves it to Red China, and the folks, that worked at Winchester, lose their jobs.
  12. Re: winchester closing? I read, on another forum, that there would be NO more Model 70's or 94's manufactured. Don't know about their ammo.
  13. Re: 243 for deer In years past; I've taken quite a few Ky Deer with a .243 Winchester. I used the 100 grain loads, and the average distance was around 75 yards. All one shot kills too.
  14. Re: Factory loads for a .256 Winchester Mag? NOPE! The .256 is NOT a Big Game load. It works fine on Small Game or Varmints.
  15. Re: slug guns [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I own a 20 gauge Browning Gold Deer Hunter with a cantilever rifled barrel + Leupold 2-7 power X 33 mm Shotgun Scope. [/ QUOTE ] Thats one sweet setup u got....how much did that all cost? [/ QUOTE ] The 20 gauge Browning Gold Deer Hunter cost me $945 and the Leupold 2-7 X 33 mm scope cost $200. I have the scope mounted in Leupold "PRW" Medium Rings cost: $40.
  16. Re: scopes Buy the U.S.A. made Leupold scope!
  17. Re: Factory loads for a .256 Winchester Mag? The .256 Winchester Magnum was discontinued several years ago, and Winchester was the only company ever to market it. Cases can be made by reforming and resizing .357 Magnum BRASS cases to .257". Neck reaming may or may not be necessary. RCBS makes Dies for forming the .256 from .357 Brass.

  20. Re: Its soo warm up north..... [ QUOTE ] I haven't even seen a winter down here yet, so i say bring on the heat [/ QUOTE ] Just don't bring on the Drought!
  21. Re: **High Blood Pressure*** Who has it***** Some of you Guys, with a history of High Blood pressure, would be well advised to take your Blood Pressure before hunting. If it is high, before the hunt, try to get it down before going.

    Hunting Games?

Re: Hunting Games? I have "Deer Hunter II" on my computer and play it now and then.
  23. Re: Its soo warm up north..... Global Warming! IT'S HERE!!
  24. Re: **High Blood Pressure*** Who has it***** My Blood Pressure runs, on average, 115/58. My heart rate is 58 also on average. However, my total Cholestrol is: 253. LDL=150; HDL=85; Triglycerides= 90. I can't take those Cholestrol lowering Statin Drugs or Zeta, as I have side affects and they causes my PSA level to rise.
