My brother and I decided to go out to a piece of property that I have access to here is missouri thursday morning. Our goal this year is to get a hunt on camera. We found a good tree and climbed up into it. I was set up above him. At about 7:30 he started shaking the tree (that is our way of telling the other we see deer) so i look to where he is facing and see a deer coming our way. I hand him the camera and grab my bow. When is gets closer we notice it is a spike and we both do not like shooting spikes. He stays around us for about 10-15 mins practically walking circles and looking like he has no idea where he is going. It was quite funny. After he left we sat back and down and about 7:50 he starts shaking the tree again so I grab my bow and stand up and another spike walks through the shooting lane at 26 yards. We were looking for anything but a spike. We decided we would get down at 9:30. At 9:20 My brother looks at me and says "last time I sat this stand and went to get down, I got half way down and deer showed up all over so keep an eye out." I watch as he brings his bow rope up 3 feet off the ground and I heard some noise and here comes some deer and they are moving pretty good. I had him back the camera and get my bow. When I turn around the first deer (doe) was already past my shooting lane. I see the second doe coming in and tell him "Second deer, I am taking the Second one." So I draw back as stops in my 20 yard land broadside. As I am placing the pin behind her shoulder I catch something out of the corner of my eye. There is another deer coming so I tell him "No, Third one, Third one there is another deer coming. Its a buck, I'm gonna take him." This buck was 10 yards behind these does pushing them hard. He stops in my 20 yard lane and starts to quarter to me just slightly. I do not remember where I was aiming because I tought myself to aim for the exit hole and not the entrance. I aim for my arrow to come out just behind the opposite shoulder. When I released I heard it hit and seen some coloring right at the front shoulder. When he took off he was falling forward and digging pretty good trying to keep his balance. So after I lost sight of him, I turned to my brother and asked him "Where was the hit? I think it might be a little forward because I seen some coloring right at his shoulder and think it might be my fletchings." So our answer to that was to play back the footage and see if we could see it hit. Well it turns out that he forget to hit the record button. . As we are sitting there laughing about it and me giving him a little bit of a hard time. One of the does comes back into the shooting lane just starring at us. She was probably thinking, What are you two doing up there? I can see you plain as day. lol. So we get down and look for blood. At point of impact there was blood everywhere. Seeing as we wanted to scout out another area we left him lay and went to check out the other area. We got back and followed the blood trail, and a pretty good one at that. He ran 90 yards and piled up. It turned out that I blew through the front shoulder and exited right behind the opposite shoulder. Took out the top of the heart and liquified one lung. I love Muzzys! All in all it was a blast of hunt, even though we did not get it on film. It was great to share it with a brother and a memory I will have forever. It is my best buck to date. Now my brother and I dedicated the rest of this year to sitting together on every hunt and trying to get a hunt on camera. i was able to take a decent little 6 pointer this morning here is southeast missouri. I will get him entered and the story tommorow. He was chasing and pushing a doe pretty hard.

I will let you know what i have done with it and if it has been wrong maybe Tink can help me out. I have always used Tinks. I mainly use the Tinks 69 doe in rut. When I use the scent wicks I usually hang them in a tree about 20-25 yards away and down wind from where the deer usually come. When I use that, the call that I usually use is a doe bleat or The Can.

Most of the time we do it ourselfs but after you do so many in a year it gets old. It all depends on how busy we are when we harvest a deer.

Congrats Bro! That is a nice buck but I know you wanted one of the bigger ones. I wish i was able to come up and film you or hunt up there with you. I am looking forward to this weekend, I need to get on the board.

I have been out a couple times and seen some deer just nothing coming into range for me. Going to keep trying though.
