  1. What is your opinions on things like programmers and throttle body spacers to get a few extra horses and better fuel economy?
  2. The site looks good! Looks like you boys have put some nice bucks down! Definately need more pictures though, and maybe some bio's. I don't do the Facebook thing, but here's a link to the story of my buck this season. http://www.realtree.com/forums/bowhunting/107019-muds-big-illinois-8-a.html He's not quite as big as some of the ones on your site though. You can use it if want though. I think I have more pics of him, and maybe can find a few pics of some bucks I've taken from the past few years.
  3. I would like to know what else there is to do around that area myself. My sister went a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. They rented a beach front condo in Gulf Shores for nearly half what we paid to stay at a beach front hotel in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. We're thinking about going this summer after the kids are out of school.
  4. Yea, i checked the vaccum hoses and selenoids on the firewall, and gave the actuator a good soakin while i was at it. Seems to be working smoothly now. I think eventually I'm going to get rid of the vaccum actuator completely and install one of those Posi lok cable actuators. I use my 4WD pretty regularly, and it makes me a little nervous having everything controlled be vaccum actuators and selenoids. I miss the good old days with the lever on the floor and lock out hubs LOL.
  5. Things are pretty much winding down here. The season's open for one more weekend, but doubt I'll get to go out. This had been a blast...hope everyone here has a great 2012!
  6. Thanks for the tips Lynn. I got her all fixed up over the weekend. I pulled the front differential out and removed the passenger axle tube. Sure enough, the plastic tips on the ends of the shift fork that engages the front axles were broke off, and the knobs that hold them on were completely worn down. Unfortunately you can't buy just the shift fork ( which looks about like a $10 part), you have to buy a whole kit, and it's a dealer only item. About 5 hours and $230 later I'm back in business. The whole fork design looks pretty chinsy, so we'll see how she holds up to regular use.
  7. Good looking buck! Congrats! Doesn't look like he'll score much, but looks like a mature deer. Nice main beams and width on him.
  8. I shot in a combo league for a few years. We did video one week and 3D pop ups the next, which was nice. If i had to pick i would do the 3D. Like these guys have said, all the arrows don't register, and i don't always agree with the kill zones. If you shoot last and pay attention to the kill zones on the other shooters you can get a good score. I was always better at the 3D. Out of around 100 shooters in our league I was usually around 40th on the video and 25th or better in the 3D pop ups.
  9. Alright, got a 2003 F 150 FX4. I've had it for about 6 months now. The 4WD worked just fine the last few times I needed it...till last weekend. Luckily I was able to finagle around enough to get out of the slop I was in. The transfer case is working and engaging properly. The vaccum acuator on the front differential is working. it engages when the 4WD knob is turned, and disengages when you go back to 2WD. ( Had the wife turn the knob while I watched it.) However, the differential does not engage the CV axles. After a little research it seems Ford has had a problem with the little cogs on a shift fork that engages the axles on the front differential wearing out. Instaed of engaging it just slops around. Does that sound right? I'm going to tear into it Friday, just wandering if anyone else has had this problem, and how hard the fix is.
  10. I used to mud race before the kids came along, but those days are long gone. Now it's t ball, softball, soccer, gymnastics and whatever else the kids are into. I do like to fish and golf a few times a year, and enjoy taking the family to a few dirt track races.
  11. Yea, not quite what it used to be around here. I'm not into blogging, faceboof, twitter, or any of that other useless stuff either. I still like to come here most every day though, just a little quieter these days.
  12. I see Schwartz got a couple of goals for Canada. Man, the US was out of it early this year.
  13. Been watching some of it here and there. U.S. dropped one early, but I didn't see the game. Hoping to see Blues draft pick Jaden Schwartz put some points up.
  14. Congrats! Looks like a good sized nannie.
  15. Look at that grin! Looks like he had a pretty good Christmas. My daughter has a little 110, and if I turn the throttle stop all the way out that thing scoots.
  16. I remember it like it was yesterday! It was a cold November day in 1998. I missed a 20 yard shot at a doe at about 9 a.m. from my old Strongbuilt steel climber. I was pretty green still, and remember thinking "well, that was my one chance of the day...might as well get down now". I walked about 150 yards and heard some running in the distance. I kneel down and knock an arrow in my Fred Bear Whitetail Master.. A doe goes blazing by at 40 yards, with three bucks on her tail. They were grunting and snorting...an amazing sight and first for me. I pulled out my brand new can call and gave a bleat, and the last buck stopped in his tracks and looked my way. I gave two soft grunts, and he started toward me. When he was behind some brush I drew, and as soon as he was clear at about 15 yards I released. I spined him and he dropped. I threw another Thunderhead 100 into his lungs to finish the job. He was a 1 1/2 old 7 pointer. You would've thought I killed a 200 incher. I pretty much sprinted to my cousins stand to tell him, and he came out of his tree in a hurry to help me celebrate. It was a lot of firsts for me on that hunt. First with a bow, first I ever called in, first real deer vocalizations I heard in the woods, first from the ground, and first deer I ever took hunting with my cousin. I think I smiled for a week after that one. Pretty memorable hunt to say the least.
  17. Same here! The wife and I decided a few years ago to not get each other anything for Christmas anymore, and spend the money on the kids. This year they each got a Nintendo DS. Judging by how much they've played them so far, I would say Santa done pretty good.
  18. Man, those are some great pics! He doesn't seemed to be bothered by much right now.
  19. Sounds like you all had a pretty solid year. You seen more deer opening morning than I seen all first gun season LOL. Your wife is a trooper, man.... 6 months pregnant and still putting deer down.
  20. Nice buck Rhine! Congrats! Sounds like you've been into them pretty good.
  21. Congrats! He's a beauty...got some great mass.
  22. I still don't know how to calm myself down. Once I determine it's a deer I want to shoot my heart goes into overdrive and I start shaking and breathing heavy. I've actually been singing songs in my head once I see a shooter coming in to try and take my mind off of it and it's seemed to help a little. Usually just a song I heard on the radio driving to my spot. Once they're in my shooting lane I shift my focus to making a good shot. Buck or doe, doesn't matter, buck fever still has the same effect on me.
  23. Hard to believe. They've been making Rangers most of my life. I guess the new fullsize trucks are getting just as good of gas mileage as the Rangers get.
