  1. It's going to a bad year for bugs and ticks. I've even already seen a few bees flying around the yard.
  2. Well, after a little discussion I think we're just going to keep the Suburban. We just rolled over 100,000 miles, and only have about another year and a half to pay it off. If we got something new everything we save on gas would just go towards a higher car payment anyways, and the Suburban has everything she wants (heated seats, remote start, DVD player, leather) it just drinks the gas. I think I might try to throw on a K&N cold air intake, maybee some synthetic gear oil, and a programmer to see if I can get an extra 1 or 2 MPG out of it.
  3. Cool, man! Have a safe trip!
  4. Ahhh yes...THE legendary Bigfoot. I took the kids to see him just two weeks ago. I've seen the Finding Bigfoot show a few times. Those guys are just plain old chuckleheads. I don't believe there is such a thing.
  5. No doubt, man. The normal high for us right now is 55. News this morning said we might see 85 today. I think we've set or tied records the last three days here. I'm going to have to mow my grass next week.
  6. She REALLY likes the Enclave. A buddy of mine has one, and she went shopping with his wife a few months ago and rode in it. Only problem is they seem to be one of the most expensive of the bunch. Used ones around here are still generally over $25,000.
  7. Now that gas prices are over $4 a gallon, we are thinking of getting rid of the wifes's Suburban. Last month we spent $400 bucks on gas just for her vehicle.:jaw: We're thinking about maybee a crossover, mostly because she still wants the third row seating and 4 wheel drive. I'm not quite sold on them yet, but never driven one myself. I don't want something that resembles a mini van. Probably looking for something around 2 or 3 years old. After some research online my head is spinning from so many different models, so i though I'd ask my Realtree brothers if they have any real world experience with them.
  8. That's a lot of bunnies! All the rabbits around here seemed to move from the country to the city....rabbit hunting has not been good for 7 or 8 years here. Those are some good looking beagle hounds! I've got one myself that's going on 12 years old.
  9. I shoot a Mission Journey. Still shooting old reliable 2219 aluminum arrows with Slick trick broadheads.
  10. If it's an 1100 in decent shape then that's a good deal at $200.
  11. ScoutLook is great! I started using it last season. It lets you pimpoint your location a little better than most other weather sites. Plus it has the sunrise/sunset table right there, game movement predictions, and the scent cone feature is nice.
  12. I dug an old rotary hoe out of the weeds at the farm I hunt. I didn't even know what it was at the time, but it looked like it would do a decent job for small plots. I rigged it up to pull behind the 4 wheeler, and it works fairly well. I have to make several passes, and it works best if there is a little moisture in the ground, but it didn't cost me a thing. My father in law has a 20 gallon sprayer and pull behind spreader that I use. I've been doing plots this way for about 7 or 8 years now.
  13. Around here is Cardinal nation. Honestly, on paper, i would say the Redbirds have a better team than they did last year. On top of that they just signed Yadi to a solid contract. If Berkman, Freese, and Yadi contribute like they did at the end of last season, Wainwright has a solid comback year, and Beltran can deliver, the Cards will be a contender again this season. First things first though...Blues got to win the Cup.
  14. Man, sounds like you've had a lot going on! Looks like you had a year to remember. Congrats on a succesfull season and getting engaged!
  15. Yea...I've noticed that a lot of the Mod's don't even seem to come around much anymore.
  16. Lat night I grilled some pork steaks, and had a big spinach salad. Ended it with a bowl of fruit for dessert.
  17. I've been noticing that too. It's good to see a few fresh faces around here.
  18. Years ago, a few buddies and I built a few trucks for mud drags and mud bogs. I only raced for about 3 or 4 years, but have some great memories.
  19. Well, no matter what the costs I will hunt the rest of my life. I'm also with you in that it is my time to spend with...well family, friends, and the outdoors LOL, and you can't put a price on that. I am however, comtemplating on cutting back next year. Maybee if the weather isn't perfect or the wind isn't just right I should stay at home. We all know that you can't kill them from the couch, but our odds definately go up at certain times. You know...early November, light north wind, temps in the 30's and 40's. I never have killed a deer in early October, but every year I make the trek up there every chance I get regardless of conditions. My wife is not a hunter, so to her what I do is a hobby. I guess I feel guilty that I spend $1000-$1500 a year on a "hobby", and we don't have the funds for her to spend an equal amount on things that she likes. She is great about it though, and knows what hunting means to me. Any time we start getting behind on bills, we sit down and try to figure out how to adjust our budget. Never once has she said that if I give up hunting for two years we get cought back up in no time, but it has crossed my mind.
  20. A tie...dang it! Here i thought we had it all wrapped up the last few weeks. Congrats to team 2!
  21. ...when you cut back on hunting. It's slow in this room, and this has been on mind lately so i thought we could discuss it. As sad as it is, it seems to make zero finacial sense to hunt these days. There was a time when deer hunting actually saved you money. Not that that's the point of hunting, but I'm sure there are several things I could spend the extra money on. What got me thinking about this is a trip I made to the farm I hunt last weekend. It costs me right at $30 in gas to go up and back right now. If you figure in 20 trips a year between scouting, food plots, setting stands, and hunting season that's $600 just in gas per year. Throw in tags, license, a little equipment, seed, etc., this easily jumps over the $1000 mark. As gas prices increase and the kids start getting into hunting that price could easily double in the next few years. Not that I'm thinking of giving up hunting, but with tight funds it could really be an issue in the future. Hunting is, and always has been a very important part of who I am. I could just see where the cost would force people away from the sport. Anybody else have thoughts on this?
  22. What the heck is wrong with these people? It amazes me that they find as many people as they do to buy into their bull and picket.

    Pikes Peak

Some amazing scenery up there. I visited Fort Collins a few years ago...pretty cool place. Good luck with the interview!
  24. Oh my gosh...that's terrible. Prayers on the way for your family.
