  1. I've been wondering when the first "deer contest" thread would show up LOL. I hope we can do it again this year. It's been kind of an annual thing for me the last 7 or 8 years and I look forward to it.
  2. I have a pair of Irish Setter 1200 gram boots for when it gets cold. They are about 5 years old and are holding up great. I also wear Redhead 400 gram rubber boots. These need replaced about evry other year, but are pretty cheap. I'm thinking about giving Muck boots a try this year.
  3. It seems like nothing more than a ploy to try and get more votes in the next election to me. It's a band-aid for Obama. It makes zero sense to me....there is no shortage, and they are not increasing production. As they tap into the reserve and the it gets lower then what? The prices will shoot back up even higher than they already were because our reserve will be half used up. Am I missing something here?
  4. That was my first thought too. I shoot 4" straight fletch with Talons and they shoot great. I'm not sure how a helical or offset would affect the flight with having curved blades.
  5. Happy birthday William! Hope you have a good one!
  6. A buddy of mine that I used to shoot league with had one of the Hot Dot sights. He seemed to like it, but he went through quite a few batteries in league from forgetting to turn it off.

    Google

I just got done checking it out. A guy at work it's for Les Paul's birthday. It is without a doubt the coolest Google home page so far....and a very good time waster lol.
  8. I had a similiar situation during bow season. We had some strong straight line winds during the week, and when I went to climb in for my Saturday morning hunt the tree was down. It was about a 3' diameter cottonwood that blew over roots and all. Somehow my stand managed to not get smashed. Hopefully you can find another tree close by to hang it in. Sounds like a good spot.

    Heat wave

Same here. It's been in the low 90's for a few days now with around 80% humidity. Only supposed to be about 88 here today, then back up into the mid 90's for the weekend. I got my first sunburn of the year last weekend. Fall can't here soon enough!
  10. Mehhh...it's alright. I actually prefer the old format.

    surgery

Hope all went well and you have a quick recovery.
  12. My father in law had one till a few month ago. I drove it a few times. It was a nice car and gas mileage was great. I believe he had to replace the steering column on his last summer for some reason.
  13. I've shot Crimson Talons for about the past 6 or so seasons. They're a good head....do a ton of damage and leave good blood trails. The only down side is they are a pain to remove from a target and the aluminum ferrules are a little weak. Other than that I've got no complaints. I'm planning on switching over to Slick Tricks for next season though. I've heard nothing but good about them and am looking for a little more durable head.

    Yo Benji.....

35's for a 20" wheel are pricey. When I put 35's on my Dodge a few years ago I got a set of 35" MTZ's and 17" ProComp wheels, mounted, balanced, with lugs and center caps, cheaper than a set of 35's for the factory 20" wheels would've cost me. If I remember correctly the 35's for a 20" wheel were around $360 each, and I paid around $340 each for a tire and wheel combo.
  15. Nice! Sharp truck Kyle! That ought to look killer with the lift and some 35's.
  16. Great pics! Looks like a great time. I wish we had some trails like that close to home. Looks like perfect riding country. As much as I hated to, I sold my YZ a few years ago...just didn't get to ride it much.
  17. He was one of my favorites on the show. He seemed like one of the nicer guys there. He actually seemed like the kind of guy you would run into on the forums. He owes his win to George though for throwing his last two shots. I didn't like George from the start because of his cockiness, but in the end he gave up a lot to give his buddy a chance to win the money for his kids college.
  18. It's a pretty decent show. The array of different animals they get in there seems amazing for Alaska.
  19. Happy belated birthday Mach!
  20. Hmmmm. I suppose I was 12 or 13. I didn't have much adult supervision when I was younger and lived with my mom, and was pretty much on my own during summer when school was out. We used to play spin the bottle and truth or dare with the girls from the neighborhood. First real kiss was with a gal named Dawn something or other. Second one was from a girl named Deonna....both in the same day.
  21. Same here. I live about 40 miles from the airport. We lucked out and it went right over us. We never got the bad winds or hail Friday, but just east of Highland, where I live, got quite a bit of damage. Our storm sirens went of three times on Friday and once on Thursday. With the amount of damage from the storms last week it's a miracle that there were no fatalities or even serious injuries that I've heard of.
  22. Sharp looking truck. Congrats! I've got the same truck only mine is a just a 4X4 and not the Z71. Just about to roll over 160,000 miles on her.
  23. That seems cheap enough. When I put my red dot on my slug gun I brought it to a local gun shop and they charged me $10 to bore sight it. It took them a total of about 3 minutes. (Seemed like a rip off to me) All it did was put me on the paper at about 30 yards and I still had to adjust it from there. Within about 8 or 10 shots I was zeroed in at 50 yards. Having it bore sighted might have save me about a box of slugs. If you plan on using it a few times it might be worth buying one. If it will more than likely be a one time thing then taking to someone might be the way to go.
  24. Well, here is an update on the situation. After meeting with the funeral director last night it turns out that the contract she signed was non-guaranteed. If it is non-guarenteed I really don't see the point of even pre paying for a funeral, and I don't feel that they explained it to my wifes Aunt very well. She had told us several times that her funeral had been totally taken care of years ago. It also turns out that a portion of what she pre-paid was put into a life insurance policy through the funeral home. Somehow my wife and her brother were listed as the beneficiary instead of the funeral home. (Not sure how that happened, but that's the reason that we ended up owing the funeral home.) Had the funeral home been listed as the beneficiary they would actually end up owing us the remainder. The payout for the policy is actually a little more than the total that we owe, so it ended up just about being a wash in the end. Anyway, I hope this information ends up helping somebody else out and possibly prevents future problems. Thanks for the help!
  25. I thought it was a good episode last night. I caught as much of it as I could, flipping between Deadliest Catch and Top Shot.
