We were just talking about this over the weekend. If you get one let me know how it works out. We have about 50 empty bottles from the last 4 or so years. We don't have electricity, so we use 3 or 4 lanterns for our light in the evenings.

Congrats Mike! More points on the board! Our second gun season starts Thursday, but I'll only be able to get out Saturday and Sunday. I'll be out with the muzzleloader trying to wack one more nanny for the year. Good luck the rest of the season boys!

Alleluia! It's been a long time coming. I never did care for the guy. I missed the game yesterday, but kinda glad I did. Sounds like my Vikes gat a spanking.

A lot of memories in those two days. Congrats Avery! Those are two awesome deer!

I managed a decent buck Saturday that i thought i would show off. With a full moon and warm ,windy weather my expectations for our first shotgun season were not high.I bagged a fat nanny on opening morning, and had a 150" 10 pointer 60 yards behind me that just would not give me a shot. I seen one other small buck all day Friday and that was it. Saturday morning came and brought in heavy fog, which in my experience does not help deer movement at all. I never seen a single deer all morning, and at that point was just feeling happy that I shot a doe on Friday. Saturday afternoon brought more of the same....wind and no deer. Normally I hunt out of my lock on stands that I have up, but needed a change of scenery, and the twig of a tree that the stand I had been hunting was rocking me to sleep. I hardly ever use my Summit climber any more, but I lugged it out and put it up about 150 yards from where I had been hunting. Then at around 4:30 I here some leaves crunching and really don't put much thought into it, since what seemed like a hundred squirrels, have been acting like idiots for over an hour. This time I see a doe moving across the ridge....then I hear leaves crunching behind her and this dude pops up. He walks towards me and stops broadside at about 60 yards and I give it to him and watched him tumble down the ridge. He's not the biggest buck in the woods, but too good of a buck for me to pass up. He's a little narrow, but his right G2 is almost 13" long.

Well, I managed a big doe Friday morning and a decent buck saturday evening during shotgun season. The bucks another 8, so it's not worth any more points for the team, and I'm only aloud 2 bucks a year. looks like I'll be doe hunting with the muzzleloader. Here's my buck. His right G2 is just under 13" long. Not real wide, but too good of a buck for me to pass up. Movement was really slow over the weekend, so I was pretty happy with the results. He'll make a nice euro mount to add to my collection.

Happy birthday Chris!

Congrats William! He's a dandy buck.

Good luck boys! The weather looks to be decent tomorrow, but then warm and full moon on Saturday and Sunday. We'll see how she goes. Everyone be careful.

Congrats Craig! That deer's a stud! Hope all is well with you man.

Our shotgun season starts Friday. I usually bow hunt the Thursday before, but with work being so screwed up I'm only able to get off Friday. It's supposed to warm, windy, and a full moon, so I'm not sure how deer movement will be.

Should Illinois expand it's current firearms deer season?
MUDRUNNER replied to Hunt or be Hunted's topic in Deer Hunting
I say absolutely not. Between the youth gun season, two gun seasons, muzzleloader season, and all the new late antlerless seasons, I think it's too much already. Seems like half of the archery season weekends we're supposed to where orange because some type of firearm season is going on at that time. In the counties I hunt deer numbers are not through the roof like the chicago politicians say they are. I actually would like them to make muzzleloader season the same weekend as the youth season, and eliminate the Jan. antlerless season all together. -
This has pretty much been what I'm seeing too. I shot an 8 the week before Holloween and seen lots of deer on their feet. Then it just shut down for some reason the last two weeks. I have yet to see a buck chasing a doe this year. I have grunted and bleated a few smaller bucks in, but that's been it. The does seem to have vanished. Hopefully this cold front moving in will turn things back on. I'll be back in my stand Sunday.

Well, I'm back! I managed to shoot an 8 point a few weeks ago and got him entered this morning. He's no giant, but I've been hitting it pretty hard since I've been off and haven't been seeing much movement. I there was a little ground shrinkage, but he's still a decent buck. I seen his right side when I shot, and his right G2 is way longer than his left. Points on the board! I am back working now, but not sure if I can get off for our shotgun season next weekend.

Mudrunner Team 6-Rack Attack 8 point buck -
I hunted with some buddies all day yesterday and seen pretty decent movement. I had a 4 pointer at 10 yards, but it's too early in the season to think about shooting him. One buddy shot a 160" 13 pointer that he rattled in. I have some crazy stuff going on with work right now, so it may be a week or two before I can check back in, hopefully with some good news. The company I work for is on the brink of bankrupcy, so I'm not sure what the next few weeks will bring. Good luck to everybody!

No man, I am Dave.:1eye: Let's see here... 1) I'm 5'11" 2) I write and eat left handed 3) I golf, bat, throw, and shoot right handed 4) My cousin hit me in the head with a golf club when I was 10 and I needed stitches 5) His sister hit me in the face with a baseball bat when I was 11 and I needed stitches 6) Every truck I've ever owned has had a suspension lift with the exception of my current truck 7) I've never left the United Sates. 8) When I was 18 I moved with a buddy to Minnesota for 3 1/2 years and got into a lot of trouble. 9) My favorite sport is hockey....Go Blues! 10) I'm 34 years old and never had a cavity.

I'm with Shaun. I would think the modified choke would keep the best pattern with that size shot also, but I could be wrong.

I've never really shaved regularly anyways. In the summer I shave about every 3 or 4 days and have a goatee. In winter I do the same as XJ and use the short guard. My buddies and I were actually thinking about all growing mustaches for gun season here....sort of a rally mustache like the Cardinals grew last year for their playoff run.

LOL. It's amazing how fast you can get out of shape. I was pretty active and athletic till I was about 23 or so.(About the time I got married actually) One day I bet a buddy from work I could around the track city park in like 10 minutes. I know I could have when I was 20, but needless to say I lost the bet I bought the beer that night. Kudos for getting back into it! I started lifting and eating better when I turned 30, and now 4 years later I'm still at it and feel great. I hate running and my shins kill me, so my cardio consists of supersets, jump rope, and chasing the kids around. If you start lifting again ease into it. I know for me at 34 my body takes a little longer to get healed up than it did 10 years ago. I remember the first time I did squats when I started lifting again and not being able to walk right for 3 days.

What makes the oil pressure gage.......
MUDRUNNER replied to redkneck's topic in Vehicles and Hunting Transportation
I wouldn't worry about it too much. With that many miles 20 psi at idle is not too aweful bad. I wouldn't get concerned until it goes below 15 or so. My '98 Chevy is about 25 at idle and 50 at cruising speed and it has 150,000. I believe when the pressure starts dropping too much at idle it is usually a result of worn main and rod bearings. -
Man, that joker is wide! That's a heck of a nice mulie! Congrats to Jr.

The Bluenotes are off to a good start. 2-0-0. Yesterday they pretty much man handled the Ducks, outshooting them 53 to 14. :jaw: So far they seem to be a pretty high energy group of guys.

It's up to around $2.89 here in town. This is the time of year that I put on the most miles. On the local news last night they said the price went up because unemployment didn't rise as much as it was expected to, and people are getting out more.... what a crock.
