    New here!

Welcome to the forums! It's always nice to see a fellow Illinoisan on here.
  3. I would have to say Dale Earnhardt.
  4. Not too shabby! Looks like a deer hauling machine to me.
  5. Thanks everyone, for the kind words. My wife has been very close with her since her mom passed away a few years ago. In a way she was kind of my wifes last connection with her mothers side of the family, and helped to fill the void she had after losing her mom. My wife and brother in law are executors, which is why we would be responsible for the payment. I don't see anywhere on her contract where it says either guarenteed or non-guaranteed. It breaks down the cost of each item and what she paid. Her receipt says "paid in full". My wife is going to call another funeral home tonight and ask a few questions to see if they are just trying to take us for a ride, and they are suppose to meet with the funeral director later this week to discuss it in detail. I'm just trying to get as much information as possible since this is all new to us.
  6. Unfortunatley my wifes aunt passed away last week. She never married or had any kids, so my wife and her brother were very close with her. She made pre arrangements for her funeral about 10 years ago and paid a little over $7000, which according to her reciept covered everything and was payed in full. Now the funeral home is saying that due to inflation the funeral she chose is now $11000, and that my wife and brother need to come with an extra $4000 to cover the cost. Is that even legal? That sounds pretty shady to me, and the family is not pleased with the services performed in the first place. We've never dealt with a pre arranged funeral before, but whats the advantage of paying ahead of time if it doesn't lock in the price. I'm sure the funeral home invested the money somehow to draw interest in the first place, which I would think should cover the cost of inflation. They seem like crooks to me. Any info you guys have would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I don't follow NASCAR near as much as I used to. I used to watch every race.It seems to be a pattern with a lot of people these days. I always thought that Bristol was sold out years in advance, but did notice all the empty seats. Anymore I just watch the last few laps just to see how my fantasy league drivers finish. Personally I would rather spend my money at a dirt track than a NASCAR race.

    New Truck

Congrats on the new ride! That's a sharp truck!
  9. There used to be lots of information about Hadley on Archerytalk. You might want to go there and do a search. Some was good, some not so good. As for a tip...if you have a good guide that does whatever he can to put you on deer and your pleased with his service then I think he would deserve a tip. We usually tipped our pheasant hunting guides 5%, but I know a hunt at Hadley is more than a South Dakota pheasant hunt.
  10. Sweet! Looks good! That jokers a wide one.

    Spring?

Typical St. Louis area weather roller coaster for us. It's been 80 the last two days and supposed to be around 74 today. Then the rain and cold front come in late week and expecting highs in the 40's and possible snow flurries by the weekend.
  12. Happy 15th birthday Christina! Hope you have a good one!
  13. Here's how ours went down....we were $3000 short for the previous years taxes, which made us owe an additional $250 a month to get caught up for the previous year. On top of that they had to adjusted our esgrow so that they would have the correct amount for the next years taxes and not be short again, which was the same amount of $250 a month. So an extra $500 a month and $6000 all total just to get back to even in 12 months. After the following year when our esgrow was correct our payment dropped the $250 we were paying back to get our esgrow even. Sounds like you might be in the same situation. If your esgrow was $3600 short you will have to pay $300 a month to repay what you were short, and another $300 a month so it's not short the following year. I hope it's not the case, cause it really put the clamps to us for a year.
  14. It also lets them know who doesn't own guns and no way to protect themselves. Seems like this would make people without guns easy targets. I read about this in the paper last Sunday. I can't see this information being released benefiting anybody.
  15. Sweet! That's awesome...congrats on the new job!
  16. Happy birthday Jason! Have a good one, man!
  17. We had a similiar problem with our esgrow the year after we moved in. The bank was only putting $100/month into esgrow for property taxes, and on top of that the county had the property assessed for $30,000 more than we paid for it just a year earlier. Unfortunately for us the county sent the property tax info card to our old address and we never got it, and by the time we found out it was too late to contest it. They post it in a newspaper also, but it's a subscription paper that we don't get, so we had no idea they had it assessed so high. Besides being short the previous year, they had to adjust our esgrow so that it would be right for the next year. So besides paying an extra $250 a month to get back caught up we also had another $250 a month to make it right for the next year. It's a bad deal. I hope you get it straightened out.
  18. I need to get out and pull a few stands and do some scouting myself. I'm waiting to get a few dry days so that things dry out a little. The ground is so saturated and creeks are so high now I can't even get to any of my hunting spots.
  19. Good luck with the job! I had heard that Home Depot was adding a bunch of jobs nationwide. Hope you get one of them.
  20. Congrats to the winners! That's a heck of a year for team #1! Can't wait for next season!
