  1. Hey all, Just wondering if any of you have compared Vortex riflescopes to Leopould. If so, How do the Viper and Diamondback lines compare with the vari-xII? Thanks, Slugger
  2. yeah it stinks that i dont have both sides. his taxidermist as already disgarded the rest of the head. so im stuck with what i have.
  3. ive been researching and learning to age by whitetails by thier teeth for a few years now and a co worker brought me one side of a jawbone from a buck he killed this year the problem is everything looks like a 4.5-5.5 up to the second molar(5th tooth back. it is half as tall and almost completely flat with hardly any enamel lines and all dentine. and the 6th tooth (3rd molar) is missing. i dont know what to think about this. the deer was killed in southern IN. and was 200lbs. and scored between 160-170 gross. any help is appreciated as i said b4 i am puzzled by the 2nd and 3rd molar.

  6. Great Job!!! I know how hard it is to score a nice buck in that area i have hunted there as well as the harrison crawford state forest for years so i know the kinda time and effort it took to find an area like that and access it. again congrats great job.
  7. sat. morn I was hunting around some big whiteoaks I had been calling with the can and my trutalker when a lil 4 came hauling butt down an old log road i was set up on. he milled around and smelled where i had sprayed some deer dander all the sudden he snapped his head toward a thicket and took off in that direction. I heard a bunch off noise and a few minutes later a small spike ran out of the thicket and stopped under my tree. Then he (The spike) snort wheezed which is something i thought only mature bucks done. guess the 4 kicked his butt and he was mad about it. long story i know but its the first time ive ever heard a snort wheeze. Thought id share the story.
  8. great buck congrats. excellent shot. its hard too keep composure on a deer like that
  9. nice shooter for sure regardless of score. as far as age i am a firm believer that you cant accurately tell a deers age on hoof after seening tons of jaw bones from different bucks there are is no way to tell for sure. case in point last year my friend who is a taxidermist killed a 145 that weighed 125 lbs field dressed we all thought for sure he was a 21/2 but after looking at his teeth that deer was 4 1/2 his friend killed a deer off the same farm that weighed nearly 200lbs and just hit 140 that was 3 1/2 just my $.02
  10. Just What it costs me in fuel to drive back and forth. moneys tight and so am I haha well i did spend about 30bucks on seed and fert. for my food plot and about 10 in fuel for the tractor.

  13. Thanks for the tips. I was wanting to use Triple 20 and still might. Will 50lbs be too much. I know that the clover doesnt need any Nitrogen but figured the wheat would.
  14. well i bought my seed yesterday. 4#ladino 25#winter wheat and 50# 10-10-10. They were out of 20-20-20 so i might stop somewhere else b4 Sat. and pick up trip. 20 instead. I figured my plot size to be about 9,000 sq. ft. This is my first real attempt at a food plot so hope it goes well. Ill let you guys know and hopefully have some good pics soon.

  20. well i havent done a whole lot but it does have 1.5 drop ford racing springs, auto meter guage pod w/5in tach and shift light, sn95 front spindles and hubs, strange 31spline axles, ford raceing 373 posi rear. no cats with an off road h pipe and american thunder flowmasters. all that ran by a force fed 347 stroker w/500+ little ponys NO JUST KIDDING ABOUT THE ENGINE the 302 is stock xcept for i removed the smog pump and added a cold air pipe but as soon as that thing acts like its getting weak the 347 is gonna be in progress P.S. its pretty quick with the 373s but it looks and sounds meaner than it really is JUST DONT LET MY WIFE OR ALL THE GUYS AROUND TOWN FIND OUT! BTW THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLYS EVERYONE
  21. i called a local farm store today to get prices on seed iwas wanting them to make a mix of winter wheat, rye, and oats i told them it was for a deer plot they told me thier oats were spring oats and didnt carry winter oats and suggested lidyno clover instead of oats what do yall think? if oats are better what kind do i need.
