Ok well I lied about the story. I haven't had any time to type it all up. I'll put it on here tomorrow. But for now, here's a pic:

Hey team... well I have some good news finally!!! I smoked two does this morning. They were about 10 minutes apart from eachother. The first one was a perfect double lunger and the second one was a bit far back. The arrow smelled funny and was brown so I thought. I backed out and took care of the first one that was dead only 50 yards away. Went to the deli, got some breakfast then went back out with my brothers. We followed blood all the way to a cliff and guess who lay at the bottom of the clilff? My doe lol Pics and complete story will be up later. I have to go work a 7 hour shift at the supermarket starting at 1PM. Been up since 4:15AM.. should be interesting :hammer1::clown:

The rut is almost there around here. I went out yesterday mid day and saw a small buck dogging does at 11AM. I'm headed out in a couple of minutes. It's cold out there (29 degrees) with no wind. Should be awesome.

Alright! About time they brought number 27 back to NY. Right where it belongs.:robot:

Congrats on that buck John!

Well.. little did I know that it was raining this morning. I thought everything was going to be a perfect morning because last I checked, it was gonna be around 40 degrees at sunrise and a slight wind. Man was that off. It poured all morning. Then it stopped raining. Then the wind picked up. I got out of the tree around 10am. Didn't see a thing but tree rats and chipmunks.

I'm headed out in a little bit. Will update this around mid morning!

He's dead. Dead as a doornail. We found him about 80 yards from where he was shot. Upon gutting him, we saw that he got one lung and nicked the heart. My emotions are bitter sweet. I'm glad someone I know was able to tag this deer and not someone else or a car or even age/disease. But I hoped it was gonna be me or my dad and not him. But what can I do now? Just time to wait a few more years til the next old boy comes around.

Well team.. the Wide 8 may very well be dead. Not at my hands though. My buddy stuck him this evening then it started raining. We're going back in the morning to look for him.

Mike, I'm sorry but you had me hysterical the whole time I was reading this. I thought the one day I left my release at home and realized it after my harness was tied off just as you did. I had 1/4 mile walk back to my house too.

Well hopefully I got my miss out of the way for 2009. It wasn't even my fault. Had a couple of small bucks come in at first light, scraping and rubbing. Passed up on them. Then right after I had a doe and a button buck come in. The button was playing with a racoon right in front of me and the doe was 19 yards to my right. Now shooting to my hard right because I'm right handed is a bit difficult because of my HSS but it's a shot I've practiced before. Rangefinder said she was 19 yards at a 31 degree angle, so aim like she's 16 yards. I settled the pin, squeezed the trigger and she ducked the arrow! Nothing I can do. I nocked another right after to try and get another shot but she slowly wandered off. I'll be back out tomorrow morning and Friday afternoon.

Hey team. I'm headed out in a little while to try and stick a doe. The Wide 8 was spotted in the area yesterday evening. I can't make any promises but I'll see what I can do.

I think we're gonna go see it this week. Should be a good one.

Good luck finding her Tim!

Folks. I can attest to the fact that Cody searched for her. I was getting updates via text message throughout the day about the search. Cody, let me know how you do tomorrow.

SWEET! Congrats! I could've shot 5 different does this morning, but I elected to pass because I'm heading out this afternoon with my girlfriend. Hoping to kill something in front of her.

Well I'm back from the morning hunt here on Opening Day of the NY Southern Zone. I saw a good amount of deer. I had 4 watch me set up my treestand, had two bucks, a forkhorn and a spike chasing does and grunting. The forkhorn even snort wheezed. Then around 8:15 I had four more does come in. I took video of these deer with my cell phone. Quality isn't all that great but you get the general idea. I didn't shoot either buck because I'm holding out for something bigger. And as far as the does go, I was holding out for a good buck this morning because my girlfriend will be with me this afternoon and I'd rather shoot a doe then and have her see a deer get killed on her first deer hunt. I'll have the detailed story up later tonight But here's the videos:

Hey all. I'm headed to my stand in about 30 min! Will check back in mid morning to let you know how I did! :thumbup

It was proved true. Some guy posted it on the Mathews Forum. It was his cousin I think who shot it. It was legit. He showed pics of the same deer dead in the bed of a truck. Notice how the right main beam kind of curves. The deer in the bed of the truck was identical.

Alright team. Well it's finally here. Opening day is tomorrow and the weather is officially gonna suck. Where I live here in Rockland we're expected alot of rain through Sunday night. Now after this weekend, I can't hunt again until Tuesday morning due to my school and work schedule. Tuesday is supposed to be nice. But now where my property is in Sullivan County, an hour northwest of my house here in Rockland, they are supposed to get close to 7" of snow over the next 3 days. But the place in Sullivan doesn't have the quality of deer my place here in Rockland does. So do I get rained on and hunt an area with alot of deer or go to Sullivan and bowhunt snow on opening weekend and hope to stick something?
-
I'm really hoping we get only snow this weekend but chances are it's gonna be rain during the day then snow at night. Gonna have to watch for black ice as well! I'll be out for sure! It's raining here now and has been since this morning.

Tell you what. Give me the GPS coordinates of where he's at and I'll come down, shoot him for ya and I'll put the tape measure to it myself. I'd have to say Mid 170's as well.

What a shame. Got my Exturkinator wraps on my arrows in my quiver ready to rock and roll this weekend! He is not forgotten at all! Shot two deer with Exturkinator wrapped arrows last fall. Hoping David's spirit helps me out again this year!
