deershed

This past Saturday I had my best day ever shedding.It was my new record for most sheds found in a day,21 sheds. Of the 21 sheds 5 were old sheds,1 fresh busted off antler and the rest fresh sheds from this year.I only found 2 matched sets from the bunch and they were the smallest sheds of the day.Not bad for shedhunting in Maryland.

Re: What do you do with your sheds. You and I are in the same boat Tominator.I basically pile mine up and a few times a year dump them out in the middle of the floor for a session of caressing. sasksheds- I like what you did with your stairs.

Re: Sheds and the snow Definately it's better hunting for sheds with out snow on the ground.Depending when and how long snow lays sheds can still be found.If I get a deep snow that falls before most buck start dropping and lays awhile.I'll get out and walk the trails the deer have cut though the snow. With the deep snow the deer tend to use the same trails that are already cut though the snow increasing the odds of dropping right in those same trails. The snow also helps concentrate the deer to a smaller area so when the snows do melt the sheds won't be so scattered around.

Re: Whos Finding bone? I was finding sheds here in Maryland,15 fresh sheds.Looks like things will go on hold now for awhile til all this snow we just got melts.

Re: Dead Deer Count Here's the 10pt. "as it layed". I believe the dead deer count is 31.

I've found 15 fresh sheds and 7 old sheds so far this year in Md. My last couple outtings I'm starting to see more half racks.Yesterday and today accounted for 8 of those fresh sheds.

Re: Dead Deer Count Do I have to count dead doe too??I find so many dead deer each year I have I hard time keeping track of buck alone.Most the buck are spikes and scrub buck with a nice one being found every now and then.So far my buck count is up to 8. Here's the only half decent one of those.

Re: 2006 shed contest.... Thanks TJJF on the sheds!! The first thing I thought of was those pronghorn sheaths. I gotta say I'm glad I live on the East coast.He's got all season to get you back. For those that don't know TJJF and dagger,they're the best father/son shed team around.And always messing with the other one when it comes to sheds.Either one can hold his own and they have a frienly competetion every year.I won't say who ends the year with more sheds.
