Thanks for the comments guys.
Days go very fast on this job. We are only working 7hrs. 7-2:30pm. There is a lot to do and we keep busy so the day flies, until I stop to take pics:clown:. Many cool ships pass by the Hudson here and a few weeks ago, the Obama fly over photo op had guys scrambling as if there was another attack:mad:.
BTW, many on this job watched flight 1549 land in the Hudson safely as it was happening.
Pigeons fly into the high floors and look to set up nests, and are smart enough to come around at break time for food scraps. I'd like to bring my slingshot and eradicate a few, they crap all over our material and bird poop is not good to handle.
The ride up the bldg in the Alimak( temp elevator) is a hairy ride. The car has a hydraulic gear motor that climbs teeth on the rails on the side of the bldg with counter weights on cables. You have never been on a elevator ride until you have been on one of these to the roof of a hi rise .
Oh yeah, if anyone ever takes a trip to NYC( don't know why you'd want to come here...but) if any do... give me a shout . I live 40 miles north of the city, and I grew up in the concrete jungle and am prepping for my retirement to the Hill country of Texas...Good Lord willing, 10 more years.
