  1. I have shot a lot of the Wolf steel cased stuff, In both .223 and 7.62x39. A bargain for sure compared to brass cased ammo. My Bushmaster AR shot the 55gr FMJ load decently. No malfunctions of any kind with the AR. What I did have happen was in the pre ban AKM I own. The extractor pulled the shoulder off the case and I was stuck with a cartridge wall in the chamber. The gun was useless until I picked up a broken shell extractor. It is shaped like a shell, but it is a collet made to expand within the chamber and remove the broken wall of the cartridge. This happened on 3 occasions and I still have the broken shell pieces I extracted. If you are going to shoot the steel cased ammo, make sure you have a broken shell extractor for the caliber your shooting. This place sells them. www.cheaperthandirt.com
  2. He gave that one last look...then there was POW! Mangy bugger.
  3. Good Luck with it. Mossbergs have served me well in the past 20 or so years.
  4. Down to the wire Huh? Good Luck!
  5. In grammer school, I could do no wrong. My Dad was a General Contractor and did many projects gratis for the school. They left me alone no matter what I did. Now Highschool was different story all together. 1st, it was a All Boys Catholic high school. 2nd, it was run by the Jesuit brothers who really knew how to throw a punch. Many kids in my school got beat up regularly by the brothers for minor offenses. Cutting the lunch line was a reason for a smack across the face, running in the hall got me laid out with a bloody nose from Brother Christopher...POW! I never saw it coming. Being late, you were made to stand for hours after school on "The wall". Brother Tin was a Vietnamese math teacher who had hands like lightning...He smacked this guy Mikes glasses of his face across the classroom for a wrong answer. Mike had about 3' of height on Bro. Tin, when he stood up he looked down at Bro.Tin and gave him a nasty look and Bro Tin never hit him again. None of this made us behave, just made us more resentful. If I came home and told my Pop I got hit by a Brother at school, I'd get another beating from him! One student laid out a brother who was a bit too free with his hands. He was expelled and that Brother toned it down a bit after that.
  6. Cool Pics...Looks like a great time.
  7. One thing I found with PayPal is... The funding that they set up is called "back up funding". When your bank acct is backed up with a CC. I did not read all of the terms of service regarding these financial transactions. I thought back up funding meant just that, to back up your funds when there is not enough in the paypal/checking acct. Thats not how it works I found out:( You get to choose how you wish to pay for the item, CC or directly out of checking acct. If the $ is not there in your checking acct and thats the way you chose to pay, you will get a bounced check fee and another bounced check fee when they go back in 3 days later for payment. The funding was NOT backed up by the CC. It is not back up funding it is additional funding in case they exhaust all resources in getting paid from the purchaser. There is nothing to protect the purchasers checking acct of over daft even with a CC as back up. Have the money clearly in the linked acct or pay through the CC. I hope I was clear on what I wrote. This became important info and I thought I'd share it.

    I'm a star

    Congrats!!! Remember...One Oh shoot, erases 10 attaboys:D
  9. Thanks for the support Doc. NY's seasons can get better with more time in the field. No matter how you feel on this subject, let DEC know.
  10. OK...Maybe it is JUST a calendar glitch, the lost time. I'm just a bit leery of the new commish...ya know? This could be a reason though, to push to move the openers back 2 weeks to make up for the lost time. If moving the openers(bow and gun) was to include older and younger hunters, who could not make those mondays off; What better way than to give more hunters more of a opportunity, to have a successful season by starting it 2 weeks earlier? More tags sold, more involvement, more dead deer. Northern Zone should start September 1st and the So. Zone Oct 1st. How about those dates?
  11. Thanks again guys for the well wishes. I can understand the whole identity theft thing, and the need to verify that the person being treated is the person, in fact; with the insurance or the guardian thereof. Just ask for picture ID...Thats all. The simple fact alone, that they make no mention of what happens to these images taken in their "privacy policy". Every Dr's office has a privacy policy that should mention every information collection point and what is done with that info. On the lighter side. I was up at my hunting cabin since friday nite...convalescing:D I got dressed and went out looking for crows. Got about 200 yards and slipped 2X:rolleyes: Right on my butt both times. The snow was glazed over like a sheet of ice. I turned back to the house and started reading. I finished a great book on Ishi. The last Wild indian in North America. As long as this soft cast is on...I think I'll be doing a lot of reading.

I had a bird chart that I looked at so I kind of cheated a bit:rolleyes: The closest birds on the chart were the Pine Siskins. I'll take the bronze medal:D
  13. Thanks for the well wishes folks. Pics of my mug they wanted. Xrays and cat scans are no brainers...But what exactly does my pictures need to be on their file for? Whats next...the Pizza guy wants a picture of you for his files. I don't think so. My insurance said it was not necessary nor mandatory. I have nothing to hide either or done anything wrong, but this is BIG Brother at work and am a non conformist..to a point:D I will not drink the Kool aid no matter how they package it.
  14. As a result of the 2005 regulation change, the 2008 early archery season in the southern zone opens on Oct.18th, resulting in a shortened 28 days as compared to the 35 day season in 2007. Thus the 08 season is 7 days shorter than the 07 season and up to 10 days when compared to the old season structure that always opened on Oct 15th and ended on the Sunday before the regular gun season. This is a loss of hunting opportunity that should be compensated for. NY's new DEC commish has many tricks up his sleeve. Remember, Pete Grannis( NYS DEC commish) had a ANTI HUNTING/trapping stance his whole political life. As detailed by the history of the laws he voted for. And our new Governor appoints him head of the DEC...Go figure. I hope this loss of opportunity does not lead to further loss of time afield and expose a hidden agenda. I will be contacting DEC to voice my opposition to this. I would encourage other NY's who oppose this to do the same I would like to see the season open on October 1st.

How about a m/f Pine Siskin?
  16. I have a fractured left thumb and my hand is immobilized The guy I was teamed with at work was in a rush( as always...a real nervous nellie), and he loosened a vise that was holding a pipe that I just finished threading. As I reached down for a rag to wipe the oil off the pipe from threading it, the pipe swung downward from his loosening the vise, and it slammed my hand GOOD! Right where the thumb meets the back of the hand. Luckily, I had gloves on or I'd be dealing with a nice cut too. After dancing around a bit:eek:... I packed up my tools and went for medical assistance. Check this out... So I leave work to see a Dr., I went to the Orthopedist who treated my ankle when I broke that, and the Dr.'s office wanted to take a picture of me before they treated me. They said it was for their files. For their files? I said NO, They said find another place to treat you. I wished them a few pleasantries and I was on my way to the ER. Imagine that... a picture for their records...Big Brother in a BIG way. My insurance and workers comp said I do not have to comply with pictures being taken by a Dr.'s office. I tell this story for all to beware of what lurks in the future. What are your thoughts on a Dr's office taking pictures? Anyway...I will be out on comp for at least 2-3 weeks What great way to start to new year My wife is already telling me to go convalesce at the my hunting camp in Sullivan county I just might do that. Its not my trigger hand thankfully and coyotes are still in season:D
  17. Have a safe trip and I wish I could've made it:(
  18. Hmmm funny you should ask... I have been in the process of cleaning out my parents, which was my grandparents house and basement. My parents were depression era children and threw NOTHING away...I mean NOTHING!!! Lots of junk. But there a few cool and interesting items that always get me off track from what I was there to do. Tons on stuff from Queen Elizabeth's coronation( Dad was stationed in England during the Korean war) and some vintage fishing equipment that has decorated my hunting cabin wall. It is a huge history lesson digging through the basement and garages:)
  19. She sounded like one cool Granny. God bless her. MY condolences
  20. John...Anthony John Jr.
  21. Good Luck dude. Looks like you connected good:D. Congrats!
