I agree Joe. How about a nice letter of how far back you remember him, the things he taught you and the fun time you guys had when you were together, the relationship you shared. People may die, but memories last forever. It is always nice to know someone made an impact on your life. That I am sure his family will appreciate. My condolences.

I'll take the 6 more weeks of winter. The humid heat will be here soon enough.

I see your expertise goes way beyond deer Tim:D.

When they dance on the table like that . They are looking for tips! Where is the brass pole? Very unique pic. Thanks for sharing it.

I don't know about that...but if the bugger sticks his head into my yard he's gonna get an arrow:D. Gimme 6 more weeks of winter. The 90* humid heat will be here soon enough.

Welcome back home Steve. Glad you had a safe trip. Always coming home with goodies too . Usually goodies on wheels...Hey Cheese comes in wheels!

That show is good . The double barrel coach gun was cool. I really liked the switchblade bayonet it had as the last ditch weapon. Felt sorry for the boy scout old man with the stamps, when he found out the collection was worthless. At least the shop owner Rick stepped up and gave him a donation to send a few kids to camp. How about the guy who wanted 700K for the Taj Mahal coins?:jaw: I like it for wondering what will come in next. Good entertainment.

So you want to be a "Hunting Pro?"

Man...I gotta come in here more often. I went and read the post from the beginning. It is all fixed now and straightened out...but I wish I'd knew someone was taking shots at OUR boys in camo:D. Might have gotten in some choice linguistic niceties while the wagons were circled. Man FullFan you even got Buckee steamin'. The man don't have a bad bone in his body . I too have learned from the plethora of knowledge this board delivers. It is OK to make mistakes...as long as we learn from them. Congrats on the great harvests of the past and hunt safe. -
Unemployment eventually runs out. While it might be good now to take the unemployment, after 26 weeks there is no more. If you are lucky enough to get an extension, that might be only 13 weeks. Then you have to pay the taxes on the dough you've taken the last 7-9 months. Unless they have been taking out the taxes from your weekly payment. You would need another job for at least another 20 weeks minimum to recharge your unemployment bennies. So you could collect again. It is short sighted taking the unemployment, but temporarily prosperous.

Bought a bunch of old bow hunting magazines from TBOW. Super fast shipping and a great guy to deal with! Thanks Geoff!

To add to Bens post. Which was right on. Most calibers were named by the maker who created them. .45 Auto Colt pistol .38 Smith&Wesson special .32 H&R magnum, the list can on. Manufacturers label cartridges /chamber firearms generically as to not promote another makers name on their product. .45acp =.45 auto .44 Remington Magnum= .44 mag .38 S&W special=.38 special .32 H&R magnum= .32 magnum Same thing with rifle calibers.

That is great stuff Kirk! Enjoy yourselves. 25 years is a HUGE accomplishment. Congrats to you both. Have fun. I hope you don't find out about the great hog hunting they have in Hawaii and get distracted:D.

E bay gets a listing fee depending on what you start the bidding at. With extras like setting a reserve...it costs more depending on the price you set that you will minimally take for the item. PayPal gets 3% for handling the transaction. You can by pass PayPal's cut by requesting payment with a check(hold til it clears) or money order(good as cash). It takes a bit longer, but on those more expensive items...it is worth it.

The woods look enchanted when the snow accumulates on the trees like that. Great pic of Cash and Momma .

I think that people are fudging the numbers on the new poll

No such thing as a dumb question. Tracey, the poll is on the Realtree home page. Top left of the page you are on now. Underneath the Red Realtree.com oval -
The 770 replaced the 710. I believe they are economy priced bolt guns. Barrels are pinned not threaded into the receiver. Receiver was stamped and rolled, not machined. Many stamped parts in those guns. Not to say they do not shoot well. But I think in time and good usage they will show advanced wear and accuracy will suffer. You would be served way better by going with a Remington 700 action or a Savage bolt gun. Depending on the terrain you hunt, you may want to consider the barrel length. Longer barrels seem to hang up on brush and branches as you walk. Thus the success of the lever guns. The Winchester 94's and Marlin 336's have been quite popular for a long time. Ammo is easily found for them. Most often chambered on 30/30 or .35 Remington calibers. Many deer have been killed with these proven calibers. With the new lever revolution ammo. These guns are way more capable that they were in the past. They have become 200 yard+ rifles. The Marlin can be had with a scope for $325 at Gander Mtns and Sports Authorities. If you hunt open areas you may want a bolt gun with a longer barrel for increased velocity and accuracy in more powerful calibers. If you go the bolt gun route. Give a good hard look at the Savages, Remingtons, Brownings. The Japanese made Weatherby Vanguard are a very good bargain for what they deliver. They also can be had in the $3-400 range in popular calibers. All very good guns. Price is an issue for most. But if versatility is important. Look at the Thompson Center Encore rifles in the chambering you like. Then you get another barrel in just about any cartridge availible. Turn it into a shotgun or a muzzleloader if you like. The T/C runs in the $600 range with one barrel and each additional barrel costs about $2-250. Cheaper than buying another gun. Hope this info helps.

Nice pics Shaun . I noticed how bright the moon was earlier this evening. With the snow on the ground it looks like there was a light on in the yard. Good night to hunt yotes!

If you live in a major urban area. You are paying major urban prices for housing and food. I can tell you this, making 100k a year around here is great money to many. But in NYC and surrounding areas( NJ and CT). You will live no life of luxury if you have a few kids. Just about keeping your head above water. Example...a 1300sqft ranch home on a 1/3 of an acre ... $9800 a year in property tax. That comes out of your net, not your gross. See what I mean? -
From what I have read. Coyotes are hungry about 90% of their life and that is why they are so willing to come into calls. Hunting means using energy, so they would much rather scavenge or find a meal(squealing rabbit) than hunt for it. Be very aware of the wind and mix it up using hand blown calls as well as electronic calls. My yote success has been mostly at dawn and sunset and while on deer stand. I have yet to take a dog mid day. Most of the e callers have a calling cycle that it goes through before the calling stops. At least my FoxPro does. I let it go till it stops and glass like mad . Nothing like watching the pros do it. I got most if not all my yote tricks by watching Randy Anderson DVD's. Good Luck.

I grew up around all types of music and have broad tastes, and I have been called a young fogey for what I listen to. The wife says I was born too late. My old song taste runs from the Mills Brothers to Patsy Cline to Hank Williams to Doo Wop to Led Zep. Was just wondering how far back you go with the music you enjoy.

I would, but the most I have done is cut off antlers from half eaten bucks on the side of a road, and feeling sad the backstraps went to waste.
