  1. Dang that will be a beast for sure Shaun. Wow! Good Luck with it . A few questions please... Will you be changing the tranny, differential, drive shaft, exhaust and the tires? How many gallons to the mile will you be getting:D? What Octane? Can you get Cam2 up there? Out on weekends/evenings or a daily commuter?
  2. Jack Palance...Palladin. Right? Love the goat horns too:) Nice job Buckee.

Wow Bowtech, your response sounds very personal and on the border of attack. You must know it all, because no one here brought that kind of response to the post(s) I made, even the ones who disagreed with me. What is Burnworth your personal friend?...Who is spouting off here? and who didn't read the WHOLE post and the other post I made on this topic? YOU. Tsk Tsk Tsk...You know what else PAL...He had to find a place where he could do it, on a reservation. I guess the DNR of that state must have it wrong also for people not being allowed to use the 50BMG to kill animals with. They must be helping the anti's also:rolleyes: Didn't think of that did ya? If you READ and comprehended the post, like you are supposed to...you would have gotten to the question part(s) and not so worried about the questioning of one of your idols apparently. There has been no bickering or incivility regarding this topic until your post. I got your 2cents...now here is your change.
  7. Going top shelf huh Ken . Great choices. LaRue makes some of the best mounts out there. Look at Yankee hill also. http://yhm.net/store/rails.html Aimpoint also is one of the sights being used in the sandbox as is the EOTech. I went with the Vortex Strike fire red dot on my M4. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/vortex-strikefire-red-dot-riflescope.aspx?a=451768 I don't want to say it is a poor mans red dot, because it is way better than that. It comes with a high ring mount just for the AR type rifles at a good price. Aim with both eyes open. If I had the dough, I would have went with the EOTech http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/eotech-557-ar223-holographic-sight.aspx?a=556344 or an Aimipoint. Trijicon has also gotten some great write ups and is highly regarded in the sandbox according to my bud who just came home from there. http://www.natchezss.com/optics.cfm?contentID=opticsType&opticsType=8&opticsClass=0&powerCategory=0&powerRange=0&objective=0&reticle=0&tubeDiameter=0&finish=0&mfg=TR&mfgName=Trijicon Good Luck.
  8. Amazing speech and vid. Ollie is right on. Thanks for sharing that. He'd have my vote too.

On that deer they didn't get the shot. The show was on again late last night and I watched it in its entirety. They did eventually get a shot at a deer at a 950+yard distance and it was efficiently killed, although he missed a shot prior at 700yards and change. In the show they mentioned that the .50BMG was Illegal in N.Dakota( not Nebraska, I had it wrong). So they went on an Indian reservation where it was OK to hunt with the .50BMG in that state. Indians have different rules. They found a loophole. I myself have never shot a deer or any game for that matter further away than 80 yards. Even in Texas. Closest with a bow, 5 yards. Last year my first shot at an Axis was at 130-140 yards and I missed. When I did connect a few days later. I got closer to the feeder (80 yards) and made the shot. I understand that is how they hunt in areas where getting close is not an option and this is how its done. Never hunted feeders until Texas. That is how they do it. Kill hand to hoof...Like Buckee did ? You da man Steve. We do not have the olfactory senses like the game we hunt do. Indians way before scent lock, knew the value of staying scent free. You do not need any of that at 1000yards. Just a good scope and a gun with a good ballistic coefficient. I did not say it was wrong. I asked if it was hunting and what others thought? I guess if one was brought up around long distance shooting, it is as normal as anything else you grew up around and was exposed to. For me, having to get close due to the tremendous foliage I hunt in seems to be more of a challenge. That is me and where I hunt. Which is why I do not understand the shooting into another zip code for harvest. To each their own...I understand that. I am enjoying reading others take on this and it is helping me understand this issue a little bit better.

    At what point...

At what point is hunting hunting and not marksmanship? Reason I ask is... I was flipping channels today and came across Western Extreme hunting with Jim Burnworth. They were setting up on large round hay bales in Nebraska with a .50 BMG bolt gun, about to shoot a Mule deer at 987 yards. They didn't get to shoot it. It got up and took off with a doe. I got disgusted and turned the channel. To me, that is NOT hunting... that is accurate shooting if successful. I know there is great skill involved in making a shot at that distance. But is it hunting? OK, I have seen some shots at Sheep and Rams on TV in the 2-400 yard range. But to shoot something almost a quarter mile away, I feel is NOT sporting, but exceptional shooting. Does the deer have the same chance as a hunter taking the shot at say... 150 yards across a corn field? Or does shooting an animal at that distance take away the sport of it all? They are not meat hunting, they are filming a TV show. As a bowhunter, I enjoy getting close and I think beating the animal in his own living room is a greater accomplishment than shooting it from another zip code. What say you?
  11. That looks great. I have always been a skull aficionado;). In my travels to Texas...the ants and sun have been critical to cleaning skulls for hunters who do not do full mounts. Quite possibly where the name Texas Skull mount took place? I'm reaching here Cliff . Pure speculation.

    son commen home

That is great news Hoss. Tell him thank you from my family and I for his service. Thank you to you too Sir, for raising someone like him who allows us to sleep safe at night;). May God Bless him and he comes home safe.
  13. It is their day in the sun. They are the hottest bunch right now in the hunting industry so they are capitalizing on it. Cannot blame them. I would love to be there too. Waddy is taking his friends along for the ride and the guests( Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert), are some of the most popular in their field also. I think over exposure could be an issue. They are everywhere, I agree. But I would think/hope they have someone advising them on all that Hollywood exposure stuff and how not to make it work against you.
  14. Yup...I'd say you have been quite busy. Hope your wife gets to feeling better soon. What steps did you take to make sure this won't happen again with the well?
  15. You left out Rain Man...That was a good one. Remember Talladega Nights when when Will Ferrell was running around on the track thinking he was on fire? He says...Help me God...Help Me Jewish God...Help me Allah...Help me Tom Cruise:D. I guess like many folks who become rich and famous, they become eccentric and strange.

    car guys

I had to unfortunately sell my 69 Firebird Convertible, which I owned for 26 years... a few years ago due to lack of space to store it . A rare car. 4.1lt/250cu, Inline 6, single bbl carb, with a 2 speed powerglide tranny . Whomever usually got a hold of these with the 6's in them, ripped it out and put in a big block. Mine was all original with 62K on it. I miss it so. The "F" body GM cars will always have my eye.
  17. Welcome to the forums! I love non typicals . Congrats on a good one!
  18. Great story and pics too. It sure is a rare find let alone it being delivered to your yard in the creek bottom. It is probably better she don't mate. Curious on her age. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Woo HOO! Congrats to you! The first ones are always special. Way to go Nancy...toughing it out in that cold;).
  20. They get $90 here to butcher a deer, wrapped in freezer paper. I think you did OK Al. Did they corn feed the cow a few weeks before slaughter?
  21. Did Y'all blow out the candles simultaneously? Happy Birthday Guys. Hope you got a nice water pump John .
  22. What some folks do... Good one Matt.
