    Bear Camp

Good Stuff Steve... Those pop up tents are real easy to unfold I see. Even a bear can do it:p.
  2. Welcome to Realtree and a BIG Congrats for your efforts with the youth of Texas .
  3. My son Mike with his 1st turkey, on NY's 09 Youth turkey hunt. Called in by my oldest son Joe, while Dad was watching it all go down. One of my BEST days ever in the field.

    attention realtree

Hope Alan hands are bloody as I type this . Thinking about you bud! Good Luck! Again...Hats off to the HCO team for stepping up and making dreams come true.
  5. Animals should not be abused period. Hunters and outdoors folk have the utmost respect for wildlife/pets and we are not the problem. Animal advocates are severely misinformed. Then again, the truth never gets in the way of their propaganda. But as far as animal rights go. Animals have no rights. OUR Constitution says" we the people", not "we the people and the animals". Bunny huggers love hearing that one .
  6. Can't go wrong with a Bushmaster Ken. I would consider a different forend. One with rails to mount a vertical foreward grip, bipod and/or laser/light combo. The rails also give a better gripping surface than the plastic. As far as red dot goes. Give this one good consideration. I have this exact one on my M4. Great price on a optic that delivers a lot for the money. It also comes with mounts for the optic. Aim with both eyes open. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/vortex-strikefire-red-dot-riflescope.aspx?a=451768 Good Luck Ken.
  7. This may be old news to some..., but keep in mind a 5.56 chambered AR can feed .223 Remington. But a .223 Remington chamber CANNOT feed 5.56 NATO ammo. Rock River Arms has come up with an answer to that. They chamber some of their AR's to .223 Wylde chamber. From the RR web site: The .223 Wylde chamber was designed as a match chambering for semi-automatic rifles. It will accommodate both .223 Rem and 5.56mm NATO ammunition. It is relieved in the case body to aid in extraction and features a shorter throat for improved accuracy.
  8. And another good one on building an AR. http://www.mapartsinc.com/anything.asp

    Well..

    Happy New Year Tim!
  10. Looking like she is ready for business . Good luck with it.
  11. Ken...Take a look at this link. Might give ya a better idea of what you may be getting into. http://www.midwayusa.com/Static/ar-15VarmintRifleInstructions.aspx
  12. A big ole molly for sure. Congrats!
  13. Your quite the director Mike:). Nice clip. Memories are forever. Happy New Year to you.
  14. I have 3 AR's. A Colt, BushMaster and a Stag Arms. The Colt has the best factory trigger of the bunch. I changed the Bushy to a 2 stage trigger. It is the yote gun. The Stag factory trigger is not crisp when it breaks and has lots of creep. It can be changed but everything costs $. William(WTNHUNT) has a RR AR he is very happy with. I don't know if he has a 2 stage trigger in it. The lowers are all machined to exact tolerances so the gun can be modular. Everything is CNC made so outside the metal composition of the receiver and finish. All things should be equal with most popular manufacturers. The name brands have the name. But some little known brands are also known for hi quality lowers and uppers.
  15. Happy New Year Y'all! Be safe tonight...PUHLEEESE!
  16. What I think makes Michael Waddell and crew so entertaining is the down to earth ribbing and just acting like good ole boys like we all see so much around deer camp. I just saw Blake Shelton lose Miranda Lambert in a archery contest to Mike. Funny stuff:yes:. T-bone and Blake had a tender moment...I'll leave it at that:rolleyes:. Mike made a silly noise trying to get a buck to stop and the buck spooked. He was sick that he couldn't close the deal. But anyway...this show was a barrel of laughs. Catch it if you can.
  17. Congrats! What has it been like 2 days since you shot one. Some dry spell . Hoping to get out this weekend for them yotes.
  18. Welcome to the world of trapping:). If you think you will stick with it, see if your state offers lifetime licenses for trapping. You know the prices will only go up. You will begin to find out just how smart certain animals actually are. Boiling is very important for leg hold and conibear type traps. The live traps(cages) I never even clean them and I get coon after coon after coon. But as for the #1 1/2, #2 dukes and the 110/330 conibears boiled and dyed. The wax does make them just about freeze proof and aids in the firing of the trap, since most trapping is done in cold snowy weather. This site here http://www.trapperman.com/ has been a good source of info for me. Good luck trapping and looking forward to your success stories.
  19. Now it is a good yote . Congrats! That dog has a nice hide. Gonna tan it? Clean up the skull?

    new years menu

Backstraps, home made mac n cheese, tomato salad, home made biscuits and some vino .
  21. Ken it is not as hard as it may seem. I have changed parts in my lowers and uppers, but have not built one from scratch. It is a modular gun which is the part that makes it so attractive for upgrades and caliber changes. You would need a pin punch set, a nylon/soft face hammer, the AR combo tool for stock installation and barrel installation. I know you would like to make it a project, but IMO buy a complete lower and tinker with that. Upgrade to a 2 stage trigger if you want. You will have a already assembled lower, so when you take it apart you have a better idea, not just a diagram of how it goes back together. Youtube has some good vids on this topic. If you buy yours and down the road, after becoming familiar with it. Then you can build one with Blade. BUT...I would buy the lowers ASAP. One complete and one stripped(for the future) to ensure against any future laws that may be enacted on posession of the EVIL black rifle. My cousin a few months ago purchased a complete Armalite lower for $425 out in Long Island. Pretty good price on a good lower. Check out the RockRiver and Stag Arms AR's also. Can you befriend the SWAT or tactical response officers in your Dept/Sheriff/troopers before you retire? My 1st AR was built by a SWAT team member in my county. He showed me lots of stuff . Hope some of this helps.
  22. Pretty cool...like a surgeon:). You do this for land clearing or firewood?

    How fast

If I am on a mission, like say going to the store. Get outta my way. I really really hate shopping, unless it is for guns . If we are walking through the woods...I go very slow to soak it all in.
  24. Good Luck Mike. Hope you have some quality time in the woods today and shake that cold of yours. Happy New Year to you too pal.
  25. I am asking who shoots both Traditional AND Compound bows? Which did you shoot first? Have any issues switching back and forth with forms? Is it possible to shoot both types of bows and be accurate at it? Should only one type of shooting be practiced? Reason being, I am thinking about hanging up the Matthews and picking up my stick bows for my hunting. With my son Joe, now the serious freezer filler. I think if I missed a few or didn't get close enough to lay my 40 yard pin on the deer...it would not matter to me that that much. A bad shot will always torture me. But the allure of the wood arrows, feather fletch(from your turkeys wings), self nocks and eventually stone broadheads has a force that is drawing me:).
