    Grumpiness...

Are you saying Bah Humbug yet Ruth! Get out in the woods and hunt some rabbits, that always made ya happy.
  5. My wife once opened the freezer to find a skinned coyote skull staring right back at her:eek:. Needless to say she made get my own game freezer after that. Have fun Ruth! Wear gloves and use bleach! Dang Dan...that belly button worm really traumatized ya huh?:jaw:
  6. What the heck is with this guy? Man...what an attention seeker/hijacker. Kyle I'm with ya bud. Alan this is about YOU and the wonderful people who have stepped up and aiding you in your quest. God Bless you folk at HCO . Prayers headed your way for a great Christmas and a promising harvest.
  7. Save the dough and bring a partner to hold the light. I use the 2,000,000 candle power spotlight we got at wally world. I think it was $29 with 2 lenses(yellow and red). One is a shooter and the other is a lamper. John, I too bought the Optronics scope mounted light and it bit big time. Light didn't project the distance advertised, battery box was a PITA and it wasn't bright enough. I brought it back to Gander Mtn.and went with the hand held spot light. I think Costco sells a 10,000,000 candle power spot light for like $50. Rechargeable too.
  8. Come on...15 looks and no guess'? I really have no idea what this is. I am hopeful that it is a old gun part. Possibly something in the flintlock or musket family. The earth where it was dug up was on the bank of the Harlem river opposite of Yankee stadium. This area was rich in Revolutionary war activity. Boy I can only hope this is something from that era. Anyone...Anyone...Bueller...Bueller?
  9. Good to see ya Tim! Enjoy your time off and be safe at work. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
  10. Joe and I are gonna do our best to make it this year Tim. Looking forward to it.
  11. Glad the trip went well and your deal was an exceptional one. Did ya feel the shakes of rejection as you entered this commie state? Ya made it home safe and had some laughs too. Merry Christmas Steve and Rilda .

    Let there be light

That is great news that the meat was still good. Any broken pipes or damage from electric not being on for so long?
  13. OK...I do heavy electrical construction in NYC and a few years ago while we laying a high voltage pipe network underground. I noticed something that looked like gold in the trench mud. I picked it up and wiped the mud off of it and stuck it in my pocket. I think it is a barrel band of some sort or a trigger guard possibly. It is made of brass, has a split in the ring that had a screw that closed the ring. I have had this on my work bench for a while and today I thought about asking around to see if anyone knows what it might be. What say you?
  14. The hinged floor plate was good when that was all that was available. The magazine loading bolt guns are way easier to load and unload. No fumbling for the shells with gloves or mittens on, no dropping shells in snow or mud. I would go with a bolt gun that has a detachable mag. Unless it was something vintage or a great shooter that you can get past the fact it don't have a detach mag. Give Savage a good hard look.
  15. This is from the 30th edition of the Gun Traders guide. Firearms under the private label names of Western Field and Hercules are made by such firms as Mossberg, Stevens, Marlin and Savage for distribution by Montgomery Ward dept stores. My book shows no model 712 The most expensive model present in the book is the model M780. It came in .222 Grading... nib=$223 ex.=$197 good=$146 Hope some of this helps. BTW...this should be in the rifle room.
  16. Awesome tine length for sure, but I agree. No where near 200"
  17. Amazing life that man has had with all his challenges. RIP.
  18. Frank...check out this pic. It is from a guy here on this forum. He hasn't been on in a while. PASpike King( Eric). His Dad sent me this pic of a buck he shot, with a muzzzleloader. Way after bow season and look what he found while butchering it. Yes, a deer can live with 4.5" of arrow in him. Depending on where it is hit. This shot was a fixed blade(muzzy) in a non vital area. I have helped a friend butcher a buck 2 years ago that when he cut open the shoulder, a green sack ruptured, and when it emptied a broken bladed cheap mechanical head was visible. It wasn't a Rage. Deer are tough critters and their willingness to live is incredible. Keep your head up. Keep swinging. We have all been there.
  19. Political correctness is all over Ken. That could be the only explanation I see as to why it was removed. The touchy(to the libs) undocumented immigrant issue. Illegal aliens...before PC came into play. So, if they are undocumented immigrants, than a drug dealer on the corner is a unlicensed Pharmacist. No?
  20. I hope and pray all turns out well Chris. Clean test results will be the best Christmas gift ever.

Welcome to the forums . Check out this place. http://www.snydercreek.com/index.htm
  22. 5 Hours looking...I'd say you gave it a heck of a search. Sorry you didn't find it. Yotes can do a good job on a deer, but I do not think they can devour one over night. Keep yer head up Frank.
  23. So you cannot hunt them with rifles huh? Bows, shotguns and MLers only. Wow lots of NJ predator rules. Must be in possession of a calling device, rifle permit for a smokepole, .10 or .12ga only with specs on the size shot. Are you guys allowed to use artificial light to shoot them?
  24. How did I miss this thread? Great pics Todd! Really dig the Eagle, Owl and Red Tail pics. Need to set up in the wood line and shoot them yotes.
