that is pretty country right there, Keep after them Tim -
I agree we had to stand and fight this with all we had, I agree we could not let our second amendment rights be comprimised. I am just worried we could loose this show and that would be a shot against us. I will keep the fight going but I am concerned that with this victory that we had to win, we may have also lost. JMO

I hope you didn't misunderstand mt thread, I was also not going to attend the show due to the decision of the people putting on the show. But my question still stands, I think as gun owners we did send a message loud and clear, but with loosing this show we lost. This was a stand, but don't think for a minute that it was a victory for our side. We just lost the largest hunting and fishing expo in the country. I am glad our voice was heard, but very sad at our loss.

OK, it's cancelled but who won? the anti hunters and anti gun folks have been trying to shut down this show for years. They could never get it done, I agree with the boycot but lets look at the over all picture. The community has lost an estimated $80,000,000.00 from the show being cancelled. Closer to home My father in law lost not only the $1,500.00 booth fee but also a major part of his yearly income he gets at the show. It's easy to sit back and save yourselfs money by not attending but what of the little guy who just lost $7,000.00 of his yearly $30,000.00 income. Not all the vendors at the show can afford for this not to happen. I know a local dog treat bakery that was going to use this event to launch a buisness, she and her daughters have been working for 4 weeks getting ready for this show. This could bankrupt her, Please understand I agree with them not having the right to not allow legal guns to be on display there, I'm just saying if it was you loosing out like this would you be as happy about getting it cancelled? To be honest I'm not sure who actually won this one. We don't have a show, and the anti's don't have to protest it this year.

OK, I decided to take the rifle for a walk to an area a had a small 250 lb bear show up twice in archery season. This area is on our mountain ground right behind our house. I sat till dark, only seeing an 8pt. buck running a doe. After returning home my wife went to a home and school meeting, when she left she failed to shut the garage door, Yes the garage is attatched to the house. At 8 pm I was trying to figure out why the sensor kept getting tripped causing the light to come on. As I looked out the front door I saw the bear walk past the man door. THE BEAR WAS IN THE GARAGE EATING APPLES. To protect my family I grabbed the nearest weapon,(44 mag ruger single action) I also grabbed the nearest flashlight,( a pink, fairy princess light AAA battery model) I proceeded to march out the front door in my shorts, T shirt, and flip flops heavily armed and ready for anything. Now to give you fair warning, the princess fairy light only casts a beam about 15 feet. This means your reaction time must be quick if there is to be a conflict cause a bear can cover that area quite fast. Needless to say this particular bear must have been familiar with this light cause he kept his distance, at least 17 feet from me. I knew he was there, cause I could hear him, He knew he was out of danger due to the fact that the light would not shoot as far as the 44. I have put a stand on the peak of the roof for next years bear season and will let you know how I do. I would love to say this is a joke, but it truly did happen, the only thing harmed in this encounter were approx 15 apples.

yep I would quit, I love hunting but I love hunting mostly because of the memories of the bucks I have taken, be it myself or family and friends. If I hunted 27 years and didn't get a buck I would work on my golf handicap during the rut.

If my guys send things out of this shop with glue visable, and saw marks on the wood I'm going to get rid of them quick. My customers can survive without me, I can't survive without them. JMO but I think you are responsible to all other employees to keep the doors open, one bad apple can ruin it all for the rest.

Heck I think I am playing golf tomorrow, supposed to be 50. will let you know about a white Christmas but if not I will just tee them up and hit away.

this is going to mess with your head, but if you shoot a bow properly you never know when the shot is going to go off. you are to squeeze with you back muscles to set the shot off. If you allow the pin to float around the target and squeeze the shot off you will eliminate target panic. the best way to do this is to shoot the bow at a blank target and concentrate on the release instead of the target. If you post this in the target archery forum you will get enough advise to really drive you nuts. Good Luck

I do all my own processing, price of getting a deer done up around here is $90.00 it takes me a half hour to Skin then bone the deer, takes another hour to cut it up and grind the burger. I think it is worth it , and I know what meat is going in my burger. I will say the family likes the deer meat better now that I am doing the trimming and cutting.

I have a wood stove in the basement, oil baseboard heat, electric water heater. I pre heat my water going into the water heater by passing it through a coil above the wood stove. in the last 5 years I have burned 100 gallons of oil just because it is difficult to get the heat from the wood stove up to the second floor. I go through about 7 cord of wood per year, I buy a triaxle load for $650.00 every other year and cut the remainder off my property. shoot my own meat, cut my own heat. barter with a friend for vegtables in the summer and I hook him up with venison in the fall and winter.

Saturday I got in the stand early, at 4 oclock I had a wide heavy 6pt. come up behind me. I stood and got ready cause he was about to cross my wind, at 35 yards he turned broadside and started feeding on acorns. I came to full draw, aimed a little low and released. I mean to tell you the buck just about turned himself inside out ducking out of the way of that arrow. Clean miss right over his back. I did get to watch him for another 20 min. 60 yards below me on the bench running trails and scent checking for does. Then at 5 I had a wide 8 come in below me looking for does, I bleated and he came up onto my bench but didn't see his girl that should have been waiting. He just kept chasing right out the bench looking for her, he never came closer than 50 yards. It was a great day to be in the woods, and I can't wait till I can get there again.
