  6. Re: Anyone else grow horseradish? [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Make sure you wait a few days after a good killing frost before you dig..... [/ QUOTE ] Then what do you do with it??? Other than vinegar, what do you mix with it?? [/ QUOTE ] Peel it like a popatoe, get all the black eyes so to speak and the skin off. I then wash it in an old ringer wash machine. Then grind it in a grinder a time or two. Quite a bit of juice will come out of it, but I just add that with the ground root to a jar and then add vinegar til the jar is full. Can it then and enjoy. It's really simple.
  7. Re: Rifle killed it\'s first scope Time to look at Zeiss or Swaro.
  8. Re: New binocs [ QUOTE ] you won't regret buying great glass. it does indeed make or break a hunt. [/ QUOTE ] After learning from the Master (Steve B) last season in nebraska I decided to buy the Swaro's. It is truely the best move and the most valuable piece of equipment you can have.
  9. Re: Fixing Binocs? Throw than in the trash immediatly and get a quality set of European glasses. LOL I really don't know. Leica and Swaro have always repaired things right away for me and in a very timely manor as well.

    Home schooling?

Re: Actually... If public schools arent your cup oftea then I'd send my kids to a private school instead of doing it at home. There are things learned in a public/private school that can't be tought at home. We had homeschool kidds participate in band and some sports at our school for along time. We brought this to a vote when I was a sophmore in highschool. The people voted that the home schoolers couldn't participate in our programs anymore. The next year we had about 30 more kids from town that were home schooled in public school. The reason I BELIEVE parents home school kids is to keep them from something or protect them, well college is even more liberal than any public school and so is the real world where they will work. My thoughts are get them exposed to as much of it as possible before then so they are not in culture shock when they are on their own in college or the work force. If the parents teach good values at home the kid will carry them with them in life. My network of friends from public school is one of my most valuable possesions I have. My high school friends have done some amazing things while others have done nothing. I was friends with everyone from the jocks and popular kids I played football and baseball with, to the band dorks, and the goth kids. Everyone has something to add to your life. Even though I was what I would call a middle of the road kid and an average stdent I carried the values tought by my family with me and made my own choices. Some were right and others weren't but I learned and grew from them all. Since those days I went on to college and recieved a petroleum engineering degree and work offshore in a job that pays nearly double what most of america makes. I still live in my home town and travel every month to work. I see many of these people from school in social settings around town regularly like restaurants, bars, stores, and some even volunteer for some of the same organizations and participate in some of the activities I do. School is a place to find yourself and your independence and to make some of the best memeorys of your life. Some kids might be bad in school and my parents didn't like some of them for many reasons, what they did, how the dressed, their choice of faith and other things, but every one has had to grow up and everyone has turned out just fine. Never ever in a million god darned years would I ever think to take that away from my children. Why would you want to rob them of some of the best memorys of their life. School spirit in my town is huge as in most and I seldom if ever saw a home schooled kid at a baseball or football game sporting a school shirt cheering us on. Now some kids that went to the school didn't either but there are great memeorys right there. Home coming was always fun with the dress up days and contests, as well as building our home rooms float for the parade. The dances and the school trips. Why would you not want your kid to be part of this? Distance from school is crap. When I was a kid we lived 21 miles from town and then had another 12 miles of our driveway, no not a road, but our drive way at the ranch. My dad always got us to school on time. We had to ride the bus on occasion and that was blast too. It is just another chance for a kid to be a kid. I asked my dad one day why he took the 4 of us kids to school instead of riding the bus and he said he had so many of the same memorys as I just mentioned from his school days that he wanted to see to it that we were doing the same, and this was his way of making sure we did. Well, atleast til we were 14 yrs old anyway. Then we started driving and car pooling so to speak with other kids that lived out our way. If I could go back to any time in my life it would be middle school and high school. Not to change anything but just to relive and enjoy some of the best days of my life again. Now I don't mean to offend anyone and I probably did, but this was not intended that way.

    new here

    Re: new here welcome aboard.
  14. I'm wondering if the new outers bore snake is a good way to clean both cpooer and powder from a barrel. What solvent would you recommend if this is a good tool?
  15. Re: Wyoming Elk Rut On? Sounds like it is just starting from the reports i have heard. Should be going full swing in the next week or two. Probably depends on your area as well.

  17. Re: I have been thinking... Get a big line of credit and good luck.
  18. Re: 270WSM [ QUOTE ] Thanks Guy's.I was wondering about that being too much or not.I'm even thinking about the 270 Winchester,I have 300 WSM and a 444 Marlin and was looking for something to use on Antelope and Med sized Deer. [/ QUOTE ] My personal favorite for that application would be a 25-06 with a load like 115 ballistic tips or Barnes X bullets. That right there is bad medicine for any deer or stinkey speed goat. I have taken more than I care to remember with the 25-06 and the .257 WBY mag.

    OIL found in Gulf

Re: OIL found in Gulf Whne the people of Florida found out anout that righ off the coast down there they went nuts a while back. That is odd too for a republican state. I have worked from Port Oconnor Texas to Theodore Alabama and find it odd that Florida is the only gulf state that had a problem with drilling. My company man heard of this same story but still doesn't know where this is out there. I'd bet though that Diamond offshore, Todco, and Transocean are alrwady on it. If it is a deep water well it will take quite a while to bring it in and then the coil tubing crew has to run there stuff to get the oil to a pump station where it can be loaded on tankers or piped to a refinery.
