  9. Re: ruger mini 14 or AR 15 I have a Ruger mini 14 ranch rifle and have shot it for years. Killed lits of coyotes and prairie dogs with it. I shoot about 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 with it.
  10. Re: Scope choice............ I have to say go with the Buckmaster or the Burris. The rest just aren't products I'd trust a once in a lifetime shot to.
  11. Re: Too much rain? A warm and windy day or two will dry it out like nothing. I think they will grow up just fine. Give them a week or so and I'd bet they will all be standing upright again.

    Hunters Education

    Re: Hunters Education Good Luck
  14. Re: Elk Contest Team 1 I guess the rest of my ream is out bowhuntin' already. Hope to see some pics from Colorado, Utah and Nevada soon.
  15. Re: hunting when very windy [ QUOTE ] I was wondering if it is advisable to hunt when the wind is blowing around 15 mph and higher. I have had some people tell me that it is a waste of time. If you do hunt when the wind is blowing strongly, what is the best method, and where? [/ QUOTE ] Wind like that makes the deer very nervous and jumpy. It takes away some of their hearing and some of their smell atleast in the corn stocks and hills where i bow hunt. I have seen deer out though when it was blowing like a son of a gun.
  16. Re: Will he make P&Y? Here in SD and Nebraska I have found that if you have a 5x5 ear tip to ear tip wide and the distance from the base to the tops of the tines is double the ear he will usually be close to 125 before deductions.
  17. Re: home made mineral licks? [ QUOTE ] The deer in my area tend to quit using the licks around the fall. During the summer they sure wear them out. What about yall's area, do they use them year round? [/ QUOTE ] Here in South Dakota and Nebraska we use them year round and have decent success with them.

  19. Re: Sighting in...rests..bags...what do you use? My brother in law will drive out in the pasture, lean acroos the hood of his pickup and shoot at a cowpie or a flat rock at an unknown distance. If he hits reasonably close to it he says he's good enough and ready to go. He is just as successful as I have been so I guess I don't really know.
  20. Re: Sighting in...rests..bags...what do you use? I have a bech rest I built behind my house. I have a 50 yard ,100 yard, and 200 yard stops. I take old money bags my buddy brings me from the bank he works at, and shot bags and fill them with sandblasting sand my buddy gives me from the body shop he owns. This has worked well for me over the last 6-8 years. Everyone is always calling wanting to shoot though. I also sit on the ground and prctice off my backpack and stoney point stix, as well as kneeling.
