Getting about that time. I like the bull, but the contests are junk. Al if you want me to help you get your password I will. They have a help forum over there that they check on I think

Getting about that time. Do we want to just do a random drawing? Or do the draft idea that was proposed back in the spring?

Getting about that time. John if you'd like an assistant or co coordinator then I'd be glad to help.

First deer with a bow. Sc, I'm no bowhunting guru, but I've spent 14 seasons bowhunting... 10 as a teen and pre teen, so I've made my share of bad shots. I'm not trying to criticize at all, but I've seen all of your posts asking question after question about different products, bait, wind, stand selection, broad heads, etc, and I've only commented on one of yours. That one was the other morning when you asked for last minute advice. I simply said " go make your own mistakes and learn from them". You've now made a mistake and hopefully you learned a great deal from it. That's the only way I know to learn how to bowhunt and make the shot when it counts, it isn't by reading on forums or articles, and it certainly isn't by watching the outdoor channel(maybe winke, drury bros, will primos, brad Farris, David Blanton, bill Jordan will help though). The only other advice about what you did that night is to not let a deer lay overnight when the meat will spoil. I don't know what the temps were in sc that night but I seriously doubt that the meat would've been good enough the next morning. I'm going to have to shoot a monster before I'll even think about letting him lay in hot temps and then it's still going to be tough on me. Just don't forget to respect the animal. Good luck to you on the rest of the season.

This really bothers me! Amen.... And it gets worse every day.

Getting about that time. I was wondering about that as well.

Just tell us what works! I only watch a select few now. Midwest whitetail, real tree tapes, drury, primos, and mlb

Last year!! Congrats man! Just bear down and finish it off right. I screwed around and took the 5 year route to my bachelors. Was so bad, that I needed A's in both of my accounting classes to get that degree. Buckled down and had a 4.0 on 18 hours this spring and now I'm finally in the real world.

Distance If you're having to ask someone else whether or not a shot is too far for you, then it's too far in my opinion. All conditions perfect, I'll shoot at 50. However, I want them directly under my tree of possible. For what its worth, my longest shot attempt is 42 and I nailed it. That's the only time I've shot over 30.

Any last minute advice? Best advice I can give you is to hunt and make your own mistakes and learn from them. Relax and enjoy it.

Scent elimination No, wash and spray is just designed to "neutralize" your odors

1st MO Run Some great lookin deer Al! Some of those that you had pics of early may surprise you I think.

Mock scraps and doe pee I keep a mock scrape going around each of my stands year round. I pee in them myself. As far as using doe estrous in the scrape, that is defeating the purpose in my opinion. That's what the buck is looking for in the scrape. Scrapes go dormant for me during the peak of the rut, bucks don't take the time to do anything more than smell them. I use doe in heat on a drag rag, then hang it in a tree near my stand. May also put out a canister filled with it as well.

Scent elimination I'm all out compared to people I know, but i don't think I take it too far. I try to shower on scent free soap the night before I hunt or if I get time before an evening hunt, but if I get a chance to run hunt after work then I don't not go because I didn't take my shower. I wear scent free deodorant if I'm hunting and keep some in the truck to swipe on. I almost always brush with arm and hammer toothpaste in season. My cologne gets a lot less use. I always spray my clothes down, but most importantly I spray down my boots. It's a common sense system. You don't have to go by the "scent elimination steps" you see on tv.

Pic of the day Nice pics John! Don't like em though!

Not a very good camera run this week. Forgot a memory card for my cudde and put it out thinking I'd use internal memory... Well cuddes don't have internal memory. Completely blanked on another lick, and this one had a lot of activity just mostly does. Here's a few worth sharing, hopefully get back on track gettin good pics soon. Got two $30 hunten cams on the way, ready to see if they work alright.

My Aerial- Where would you hang em? Thanks for all the feedback guys. Without a terrain map, I'm afraid it's a little harder to pick up on funnels on my place. I see a couple places that guys have pointed out that I'm going to take a closer look at though.

Always like to see the different ways in which people think about hanging stands. I've put boot tracks on this place for 15 years, so I obviously have the upper hand, but from the aerial, do you see anything different you'd focus in on? Keep in mind I bowhunt only, gun stands have been left off. Yellow is property line Black is logging road Green is rye grass Light green clover Red is where stands are Pink is where I'm planning to hang before October

Funny sight this morning going to work. It's cool to post this on the MS forum as you did, but you can't put this on a nationwide one. It makes us live up to our redneck stereotype..... Oh wait. Haha.

Met Pat and Nichole today I would've liked to have gotten down there, but just didn't take the time. Put out some cams and shot bows after church today. That's about it though. Glad y'all had fun.

Still trying new broadheads. Have you seen the thread with the Grave Digger broad head over on the bull, John? Pretty cool lookin head.

Favorite hunting show I can't really stand to watch the outdoor channel anymore, and I sure won't watch turkey hunting on tv. Midwest whitetail, drury, primos, and realtree are the ones I'll watch on occasion.

Slow start That 8 looks pretty good to me! Nice pics!

Hoosier, I think I could pass up good deer with the best of them, but when you go bow only down here your chances have totally declined. I'm going to shoot 3.5 year olds and better when I get the opportunity... At least until I have enough land and a perfect group of folks that will let them go also. I had two really good 3 year olds on cam last year that I wouldve loved to have seen make it, but they both fell to rifles. One to my dad, one to my uncle... And they were happy with them, so I have to take my chances when I get them. Here are those bucks
