  1. For what it's worth, here's my opion: A deer that is going to develop into a mainframe 8 and definitely a mainframe 10, is going to be a mainframe 8 at 2.5yrs. Therefore, you really won't be protecting them by putting that regulation out there if the guys you hunt with are simply looking to kill any buck they can. So what regulation does let them grow? I honestly don't know. I hate the spread one. I have three deer just shy of 125 at my house that won't stretch the tape more than 14"s inside. Main beam length seems to be the best answer to me. 18-19" would be a good place to start, but that is tough for a hunter to judge, especially if they are just looking to kill a buck. I do applaud your efforts of trying to let the bucks get age on them. Hopefully, you can develop a plan and get everyone to agree and follow it.
  2. Congrats to everyone that has killed recently. I arrowed a doe last week over Thanksgiving break. Don't have great pics with the paper so I'm planning to wait to enter her into contest only if I don't upgrade. I have exams next week, so staying at school this weekend to study. Our rut doesn't usually heat up until Dec 15 or so, but hearing reports that they're moving pretty good. I'll be in a tree from the afternoon of Dec 9 through Jan 8 so hopefully I'll put a good buck down for us.
  3. Congrats Ethan! Nothing wrong with him!
  4. Congrats on the 7 Kevin! School, work, and home football games the last two weekends have kept me out of the woods lately, but it's not far from time to get serious. Will be in stand basically from friday 18th- friday 25th with my bow. Unfortunately, the dang bangsticks get to come out Saturday. Will also be using some of that time to hang rut stands.
  5. Ohiobucks beat me to it. The MS Dept of Wildlife has done that study and the deer are supposedly fine.
  6. Heck of a buck Mud! Great story also! Congrats!
  7. Congrats Wimpy! Thats a great buck!
  8. Right now, it isn't likely for me to sit past ten. During the prime days of the rut I'll sit until anywhere from 12-2, get lunch and back on stand by 3.
  9. Used to be alot more than it is now, but I built up plenty of stands and a more than applicable bow rig in that time.. I've had to tone it down alot though. This year, approximately $30 for salt, $140 for plots(reimbursed for half), $25 for scent away products, and $30 for broadheads. Lifetime license for me, so I don't have that expense. Will have to buy a few arrows in the near future.
  10. Whoa that is an awesome buck TG! Huge congrats to you! Nice job for the team also!
  11. Didn't get to draw back on a deer this weekend, but did deflate the lungs of a coyote. Will be back after em this weekend. Weather is supposed to be nice once again.
  12. Congrats Joe! I'd like to think that I'll have a nanny on the ground at some point this weekend with the weather turning cool.
  13. Looks like a good one Ben! Congrats!
  14. Congratulations Chris! I know your grandad was looking down on you!
  15. Congrats to each of you! Awesome buck and great picture!
  16. Congrats Fly! It's hot down here and with the full moon, the huntings tough. I'm keeping the pressure down for when the weather is right and the white oaks are dropping. Things should be looking up in the next week or so.
  17. Called in bucks with grunts, snort wheeze and the can. Also have watched them hear neither and never check up from where they were headed.
  18. I'd go with a mix of oats and rye for sure. About 50# to the acre of each (maybe a little less for rye). Then I might throw in some crimson clover, winter peas, and/or turnips.
  19. Man that is one heck of a buck! Great story and pics also! Congrats!
