  1. Maybe some of you shoot outdoor 3D targets in the back yard, local sportsman's club, or maybe do more sanctioned competition. Awesome for keeping all the right muscles conditioned and keeping up your shooting going into fall. Who out there is shooting their bow this summer? I'm sure some of you are shooting out there, even if it's just in between waiting for dinner to be ready on the grill. Pictures shooting with buddies, kids, or by yourself... post them up?
  2. all my plots are pretty open and haven't had much trouble with about anything.
  3. only blend i can think of would be DeerAg Back 40. i'd probably go with white clovers, brassicas, and trefoil. if you have an agway up by you or cornell cooperative extension they could tell you something more specific.
  4. last month i picked up an Ameristep hub style blind from there for $35. it was clearance with 50% off the clearance price to boot. there was one more but decided to leave it for the next guy/gal... ya know spread the opportunity.
  5. i got nothin. hope you figure it out Ross.
  6. Used to but it's been almost a decade i've had a Cabelas card. i guess it's a BassPro card now.
  7. i don't think it's a good idea. the strands in a string are dynamic in that they move and shift. also adhesion can be hit or miss knowing that a good condition string will be sufficiently coated with wax. BCY Nock Point and Peep Tieing Thread ran across wax will hold a tight knot. the fibers of the thread itself is bonded so if won't fray as easily. depending on what you're dealing with there's lots of tips and tricks for getting things to stay put on a bow setup. what are you holding in place?
  8. time well spent. nice job Don. congrats to her!
  9. be happy Clinton and chuck shubenomore don't wake up every morning in the state you call home. that struggle is real. upstate NY bleeds red but we've got a big blue boat anchor at the bottom.

seems to be the case Joe. i'm pot stirring on the NY forum. i decided to check in but not here nearly as much. keep coming back must count for something!
  11. nice! shooting good and looking like pro with that cool hat. haha
  12. Thread about a month old I know. All the snow is gone now. Will look a little while out and about for turkey but don't put much effort into it. This set was found of one of the bucks that was on the "hit list". Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. Time well spent. Congrats to him!
  14. congrats Al. Season is still a few weeks out here in NY
  15. yea william, who knows what things factored in if something caused a "mutation" like that. honestly, if something like that was the cause i hope we never find out. otherwise, knuckle heads will be laying waste to the country side, dumping all the stuff in their food plots. lol i'll just stick with assumptions of genetic anomaly, paired with consecutive years of deer generations in it's blood line that had access to great nutrition from ag ground.
  16. holy hell joe kicked up a rock. i'm not on here as much anymore, but still around. some long standing members on here are on another forum based out of our home state of NY. honestly the forum technical hiccups by far pushed me away more than anything.
  17. i've shot 5-spot before but usually it's a vegas face for me. all the same though in that you take each end at a time. for a 300 round think of it like shooting 12 shoots just all in the same night. don't think about the one before or how many still to go. just think about the one you're shooting.
  18. hahaha.... Ruth you're all over the place. It's good you're testing different ones out though. Try'em all! They'll all get the job done, but comfort helps you be consistent. The brand/one your used to will always "feel better" right away. Once to shoot them a little though you can get an idea of how easily you can settle into shooting a bow and stay comfortable from shot to shot. our draw lengths being 3" or so different makes Axle length feel worlds different but a short 30.5" bow would be too short for me. it should feel longer to you though. you going with the 30.5" or 34" bow?
  19. that'll do Don. i used to use Fed Heavyweight #5.... seemed to be overkill. HW#7 are very common and have proven their worth.
  20. sorry to hear it. steve will get you on a nice bull if you draw. hopefully you do. worlds away here in NY but i hope things turn around for you.
  21. that's a nice find for state land in NY!
  22. I've used a Nikon Prostaff, Nikon Buckmaster, Nikon Omega, and Bushnell Elite 3200 all of them seemed to work and are 3-9x40mm. every one of them has more than enough light transmission even cranked to 9x.
  23. i've gone to different shops over the years and being loyal enough they'd give me stuff like logo'd fleece jackets and stuff. i knew the shop owner but then he had many gun and bow shops. staff would get rotated and shipped out, then you'd lose those formed relationships. sometimes the service would suffer when you got someone new that supposedly knew what they were doing. I shot with one shop manager at an outdoor 3D event and he wanted to put me in some Bear Archery shooting staff program. I could basically get any Bear product i wanted far cheaper than he could. i just ordered it through him and then would promote the product saying you could get it there. I had a horrible start that shoot and still managed a 308/330. Problem was he was too far away from me to allow me to help promote his shop. I never knew what kind of service they provided or had been in the shop either. I passed because it didn't feel right. Certain equipment might not be that one piece you're fond of but it'll work more than well enough. You still have to go with your gut for the situation and terms. same applies to other products and companies too outside of bow mfg and archery shops.
  24. yea that's more having to do with what Bergman's rule points out but all the different sub-species of whitetail age the same way. characteristics definitely had me thinking older at 4.5 yrs old. not an exact science obviously but if you know what to watch out for and get enough practice on bucks with a verified age to get surprisingly accurate.
