Thanks for the replies guys. Funny how things happen some times. I had to work in St. Louis today (near a Cabela's) and got off a half hour early (which never happens). Anyway as I drove by the exit I just decided at the last second to turn off and stop at Cabela's to see if they had any blinds up. Well they had a bunch up including the Vision. I was NOT going to buy anything! I got inside and at first really liked it. It's a good looking blind, but then I started thinking practically. Would this blind be the best for me and my fidgity 7 year old next fall. I decided it was not the one I wanted after all. The very feature that drew me to it (360 degree curtain windows) is what made me decide against it. The curtains were rather loose and in a wind might rip and be loud. I'd have to have the mesh open because I don't think my daughter would be able to see well using the scope through the mesh since it was so loose. I also imagine I'd have to adjust the window several times for her to get a good shot and that movement would bring attention to us. I know it was a floor model, but it was the only one that the stitching was coming undone on (all over). Anyway I saw another one that was on sale for 99.00 the Primos Eclipse. It had the triangle windows that I thought I'd hate. It had the noisy velcro and from the picture an ugly color. However, once I was inside trying it out it was the one I liked the most and it was only $99.99. I like how the mesh can be fitted to the window very tight or left out and open. The triangle windows that looked too small from the picture actually seemed fine once I was inside. I didn't even mind the color once I saw it in person. Anyway, I walked out with one. I guess it is a lot like a bow. You have to try it out and see which one "fits" you better. Smack, you'll have to let me know how you like your Vision and what you think of the curtain style netting. It looks great for a seasoned hunter, but I didn't think it was the best for a kid. Anyway, I think i'll try it out in couple weeks during turkey season. I'll put some seam sealer on it first because most reviews indicate it leaks.

I've reviewd Cabela's ground blind choices and read the product reviews. Originally I was condisering the TSC doghouse but not so sure anymore. Since spending 400.00 is not an option for me I'm thinking the "ground Max Vision" might be the best choice for the money at $211.00. Would like for me and my 7 year old daughter to use it deer hunting together in the fall. Anyone used this blind? Comments? Good/bad?

I think I missed something. Looks like i just signed up as an individual. Never done this before so it looks like I'm out. I've got 46 points so far and doing the best in the midwest bracket with all my picks in the sweet 16. Missouri will make or break me. I've got them playing Duke for it all.

Yea, here in IL. things are going up for residents too. I posted a thread about it earlier. (One hot topic given the issues we have had with our governors) My biggest complaint is that in IL. the DNR money (that comes from taxes) was "borrowed/stolen" by the past governor to fund other things. Now the new governor wants all these new fees and increases that many believe will be stolen/borrowed from yet again. The other concern is how poorly the ILDNR currently manages things. Is it due to insufficent funds or poor management skills. Who knows for sure. Anyway, I'm buying a lifetime hunting license for myself and my daugter (7) this summer before the rates go up. Hopefully NY will use the additional money wisely? Glad to see some states considering lowering prices. I know Idaho has done this for bear permits.

Home team will surely win the first 10 games now! Congratulations.

Do any of you think the existence or non-existence of this law would alter the way you would act if you or your family were threatened (or at least if you thought you were being threatened)? Law or no law, if someone broke into my house I'd get my gun, aim, and then confront the intruder by saying stop. If he/she complies with my commands the police will end up taking him/her away. If not then the police would not be.

Steve your art work never ceases to amaze!

My first gobbler (when I wasn't so dern ugly). A few years later when ugly was hitting me hard. And finally what I look now. (Art work by Buckee)

Good looking mount. He's a beauty alright. Looks like he's pushing 150 inches.
-
I would have had him mounted and I'm from IL. Over the years I've heard a lot of people tell me they should have had a buck they got mounted. I've never heard someone say they wish they wouldn't have. In my opinion one can never go wrong mounting any animal they harvested regardless of the size. Now deciding on a taxi (based on cost) is another story.

Great to hear! Now you know you're going to have give up your best hunting spots!

Slaw was the mastermind behind our team name. Now we have to live up to the name by putting long beards on the table. njbowhunter, it looks like you're going to be in chips!

The vine is a nice touch. I think it looks great!

I'm sure this happens all over the country and more than you would think. I worked fast food in the late 80's early 90's and new people that did this sort of thing and worse. Generally targeted people, but somethimes not. If a fast food employee ever hands you your food and says something like: "There you go, enjoy your delicious meal!" with a larger than normal grin, be cautious.

I too have thought about buying a lifetime license. I figure it better be done quick because it will not be long before lifetime prices go up as well. If paying a little more for a license meant keeping Sate Parks open and keeping IDNR jobs I'd be ok with that. However, with the parking fee, license increase, permit increase, not to mention higher rates for license plate stickers, drivers license, income taxes, etc... my cost to hunt will exceeded 100% my previous year. This is too much too fast. Will the increases keep me out of the woods... no. However, it will likely keep some of the lower income people out and they are the ones that really need to be there. Does anyone really think the "extra" money will be used wisely? Will it all be given to the ILDNR to make improvements? I've been following development of a new Sate managed bow hunting area near my house. Small, only 90 wooded acres. Five thousand dollars was allocated for a small parking lot. I saw the parking lot last week. One truck load of rock poured on the ground (maybe five hundred dollars worth, not five thousand). Maybe they plan on doing more later, but I doubt it. I'll get a picture and you all let me know if you think it would take 5 grand.

Ok, more letters to representatives going out. Things are so twisted here in IL. I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry. Check out the: "DNR budget includes new fees" story: http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index.php?/pso/article/dnr_budget_includes_new_fees/

Glad the dog didn't get ya Mark. Also glad you didn't have to put a wuppin on your neighbor. I'd call call the cops and report it. If he is illegal and they do somehting about it, well that's one less problem you'll have.

There is something about excited kids and hunting that can always bring a smile to my face. Hope things get better for you.

Hey thataDron, welcome to the RT forums and I got one for you: How do ya get a one armed _____ (fill in the blank with some type of politically incorrect term) out of a tree? Wave. (Thought I was gonna say use a shotgun or accessory didn't you)

Saw one like that with a lion a while back. A hunt like that would sure make you feel alive (unless you got yourself killed of course).

Would explain why I haven't found any sheds the past few weeks. I've read that smaller bucks typically loose them by now, but bigger bucks can hang on to them unitl early April.

Great news Frank! Glad to hear things are looking up!

Sure is a nice scope! I love mine. I use 100 grains in my 50 cal with 250 grain sabots. I use the crosshairs for everything up to 100 yards. I haven't shot any further yet since my shooting area only goes out to 100 yards.
