Got this old dried up doe early this season! The exit wound is pictured - the entry was back an inch - got one lung and liver. The exit was way back. She only went 50 yards and was dead within a few minutes. Love it when you can see them down from the tree-stand.
Love them camo seat covers! Got some on mine. Thanks all... We got that mid-October lull right now. Didn't see a deer yesterday or this morning. Last weekend took my son out and all we saw was one small doe. He got a shot, but missed. One more week and the chasing phase starts in my area. Got my doe early, so now I'm strictly looking for horns until the post-rut gun season.
You just never know when it's going to happen -86 degrees today and was thinking about not going out. Stuck this old dry doe at 10 yards. She only went 50 yards which is good because there was NO blood trail at all (on a complete pass through)
Sorry - forgot the good camera and had to use the cell phone.
We are on the board! Got his dry old doe tonight 30 minutes before dark at 10 yards. My summit open shot was 30 feet high - saw three, but they never saw me.
Have had awesome results with (non-cut on contact) fixed and mechanical when the shot is on. My shoulder bone placed shots have had poor results with both types. I now use a cut on contact thick metal fixed heads. So far I have not hit the shoulder, so we'll see.

fly from Illinois checking in! Tagged out sounds good to me. Been real dry this summer corn is already starting to be harvested in some areas. Should have some good activity by Oct. 1st. I don't own a trail camera, but I'm headed out Saturday to hang stands and do some scouting.
My favorite characteristic is typical mass. Not so worried about the score or number of points, I love thick bone! However, right now I'd go with the non-typical since I have a B&C typical. Once the non-typical finds a place on the wall I'd be right back to the typical.
I've seen skinny does with a couple fawns look like that, but never a buck. I'd let him walk - and I'll go with 2.5years. However, he may not make it another year. deer generally lose a significant portion of body fat during the rut.
It's my LIVING room! The wife and I seperated in January and unfortunately we decided to divorce earlier this month. About 1.5 years ago she decided to take her life in a direction - opposite mine. We're still friends, just can't live together anymore. There used to be some abstract art thing on that wall. It looks a lot better now (to me anyway).
Congratulations on your buck! Mount looks real good. I know what ya mean about public ground hunting. Cool that you got your story in the hunting magazines. I understand that you have to wait till December for the whole story, so just tell us the exact location you shot that bruiser and we'll call it good. LOL
