  1. Prayers for safe travel Steve.
  2. Dang it Steve! Now I gotta clean all the coffee off my keyboard! LMAO!
  3. Thanks everyone - I don't fault the LEO, I know he was paying attention to his radar. People tend to race along that stretch and it was a hot day so he had his air conditioning going, between that and the radio chatter I'm sure he didn't hear the window being broken. But his dash cam did catch the act and maybe something will come of it. Insurance will replace the broken window but that is all. Had it happened at home then my homeowner's would have covered some of the loss.
  4. That is one LUCKY hunter! He definitely had an Angel on his shoulder that day. That hog would have made mincemeat of him in a hurry.

    I hate!

Thieves! Went for my physical therapy session this afternoon, very public parking lot on a very busy street, 3:00 pm with an LEO running a radar gun less than 50 yards up the street in clear view of my truck. Came out to find the driver window on my truck shattered and my GPS, DSLR that my wife got me for our anniversary last year, and my range finder gone! DSLR and range finder were in the storage compartment under the back seat! Asked the LEO if he saw anything, he said he hadn't noticed anything to raise his suspicions, checked his dash cam and sure enough it caught the act but picture wasn't clear enough to see anything to help identify him. I am so mad right now I can't sleep for thinking about it. I thought when I got out of the truck I needed to disconnect the GPS and put it out of sight, it has a windshield mount, but I figured it is broad daylight with an LEO right up the street, so No Worries right? Any way, thanks for letting me vent.
  6. How did you rig the minnows - through the mouth or spine?

    Business

What ever you do, make sure it is something you enjoy doing.
  8. I am stuck on 12 - will try again later after frustration levels out.
  9. Norm - I am so sorry for your loss. I totally understand, their parting leaves a HUGE void. I still find myself looking for Hershey to go have a run through the woods to see what we can scare up.
  10. Prayers on the way from SC.
  11. WOW! Ain't got nothin like that down here in South Carolina! I'm lucky if I get into a 14 inch rainbow every once in a while. Have never had the honor of hooking a Brown. Congrats Ruth, what did you catch them on?
  12. Looking for a kit to mount the rack from my crossbow kill this past season. Couldn't afford to have it done professionally, so I had the processor cut the rack off for me to mount myself later on a repro skull - ala European style or just a plaque mount. Have never done one and want to make sure I get the best and easiest to work with. Thought about using the rack for handle material but this was by far one of the nicest I have ever taken. Massive 11 point.
  13. Good eye Shaun - that one is 25. Blade was too small to hollow grind, so I went with the 25 degree flat grind.
  14. Thanks but sorry Ben - she was gone before I got her done. I am working on her sister though and she does not have a home yet, you can even choose her handle material. Let me know.
  15. Making this little Lady was just plain FUN. Closed she is just 2 3/4 inches in length Open she is 4 3/4 inches with a 1 3/4 inch blade She is an Automatic (Switchblade). All Stainless with the exception of the textured G-10 handle scales.
  16. Most hunting crossbows are 150 or 175, Horton has a recurve crossbow that is 225.
  17. What he said - I have a scope on mine and that is the one thing I really like about the Horton Crossbows is their Multi-range scope set up. Once you have the scope dialed in at 25 yards, a single click up on the Range dial will automatically set you up for 50 yards and another click will take you to 75 yards. I was doubtful as to the accuracy of this set up but it truly does work. I use the bio-degradable one use bolts to discharge my bow if I have not taken a shot once cocking it. Also, remember to keep your off-hand thumb down when pulling the trigger, the bow string WILL cut your thumb off if it is sticking up. My bow has a 175 lb draw weight and I use a cocking rope to cock it, this reduces the effort to cock the bow by about 75 %.

    Thanks

Fingers crossed - best of luck!
  19. Now, now snakes are good .........for boots, knife sheaths, belts, hat bands, etc. Good thing you had those boots on.
  20. I have been hunting with a crossbow for over 12 years now. I use a Horton Hunter HD175 (in Realtree HD, of course). I have never taken a shot over 40 yards in an actual hunt, however have made 3 Robin Hoods at 65 yards while practicing. Horton is not the company it used to be and neither are their products, if I were to get a new Crossbow I would most likely choose TenPoint over Horton, yes they cost more but the quality is there for the long haul. Bernard Horton who founded Horton Crossbows is a close friend and client but the company is not the same since he sold it and moved to South Africa. Barnett has a good name in the industry but their bows just don't seem to last like the Ten Point do and they are heavy. South Carolina allows all able bodied hunters to use a crossbow during bow season except on Game management land.
