Answer this question. What have I done or will I do in the future to make this place we call 'home' a better place and get more people involved, posting more and have it a fun and enjoyable place. Now, seriously, answer that question. edit: changed it up a bit to hopefully stray away from any sort of negativity that folks might have thought I had.

I put in for deer and antelope in Wyoming this year. Not sure when the results will be in but I can say now, that the wait so far has been hard! I got lucky in the zones I am hunting in Idaho this year for Elk and deer and will not have a wait since I will be able to get them over the counter. My draws for either season Elk and Deer here in Washington were a bust, but I have 4 other draws I am going for. I think they will be posted sometime in May. If I get those it will be a full season of hunting trophy deer elk and antelope.

That is awesome news Timbo! Congrats buddy! I really hope they have video of you texting. Looking forward to doing them again this year.

Great news!!! I will be buying that DVD.

Spent the weekend in Whitefish MT, outside of Glacier National Park. The road in was open for 6 miles. After that the crews were working to plow 5-8 feet of snow off the road. At the top of the road, they have a measured depth of 75 feet of snow to clear. That's right, 75 feet. It snowed all weekend on us. It made spotting deer, elk, goat and Big horns pretty easy. I would recommend everyone going up there at some point. I will be back in the late summer to camp and hike since its only about 5 hours from me.

Fishing Guide Recomendation - Hilton Head
92xj replied to AceArcher's topic in The Realtree Pro Staff Room
What kind of fish are you looking to target? Can you drive a boat and use GPS and a depthfinder? Will you be taking your own equipment? If yes, I would rent a boat for a day and let me know what fish you want to try and catch and I will try and help you... -
Fishing Guide Recomendation - Hilton Head
92xj replied to AceArcher's topic in The Realtree Pro Staff Room
I have fished out of HIlton Head a lot and have had great trips. For the life of me I can not remember what guide I used when I did a guided trip. I have only done one there and it was good. After that first trip, I took out my own boat and fished with great results. You might want to give Leo on here a shout and see if he knows of anything. He is the closest member to HH in Low Country SC. I'm thinking he is about an hour away. He might know who to use or have friends there that would. Give him a PM and see if he's any help. I will try and find some old pictures or something that will help with determining who I used. It's been 5+ years, but if they are still around that means they're doing something right. -
I agree with you 100%. My earlier comment was just pickin' on you because you posted the same statement 4 times. Now that 3 of them were deleted by a mod, it kind of doesnt make sense, but it was good humor while messing with Mike.

Ask him what he wants for it. You never put a price on another man's gun. The seller always has to set a selling price. If he insist on you picking a price, say 5 bucks. If he doesnt like it he will come up with his own price. I have sold stuff for way over value as well as under value, I never let a buyer set the price on something I have to sell. Tell the guy to man up and price his own gun if he wants to sell it so badly. If he has a price on it and you are trying to decide if that price is fair. Dont go looking for what a different gun is worth to someone else. Decide for yourself if you think that gun that he is selling at his price is what you want to spend on a new gun. If it's not, go look somewhere else and let him sell his gun at his price. I have seen the exact same gun sell at two very different prices. Thats the advatage of you selling your own stuff, you decide the price and you also get to decide the price you are willing to spend for something that you want to buy. edit: just did some googling for you. I can see why you are having a hard time finding a price. there are just way to many 700 BDLs listed to come up with something worth while. edit 2: Found one that a guy picked up for 200 bucks. edit 3: just found one that a guy bought in a 30-06 in PERFECT condition; he paid 375 for it. I would say 200-400 dollar range for the gun depending on the condition.

Steve, I think he gets it! I know his memory is going and you are just trying to help the fellow out because he will forget what he read. Thats a very nice thing of you to do and I am sure Mike appreciates it! :clown:

Tim, where are you headed this year?
-
I would like to start a business that manages land and/or designs land layouts. Hunting lands or wildlife management lands. Private Plantations that the owners want to hunt would be ideal.
-
A business that would be legal would be a land management / land design business. I just need someone to fund the initial cost and I would do it tomorrow. Anybody want to take a risk? I could make you some good money.

population control business. We are living outside of our means.

You dont want to teach him bad habits by letting him shoot a gun that doesnt fit.....BUT......there are millions of people out there that are shooting guns that dont fit them. I would bet my dog, that over 50% of the people here do not know how to fit a gun to them and are shooting guns that dont fit them. That being said, IF he can safely handle the gun, shoulder the gun, reach the trigger while the gun is in his shoulder pocket and pull the trigger without it flying backwards under his arm, or over his shoulder hitting him in the face let him shoot that thing. Get him out and see what happens, if he doesnt feel comfortable shooting it stop then and feed him some miracle gro. People are going to tell you to wait and let him get bigger to shoot. But think back to your childhood if you had one with guns in it. Did you wait for yourself to grow up before putting a gun in your hand to shoot? Did you shoot guns that were to big for you accurately? I know I was shooting a 12 ga at 7. I killed my first deer at 5 with a 32 special side mounted scope. You want to talk about a gun that doesnt fit a kid and also is insanely awkward to shoot and sight in. That right there is it. You as a dad and the responsible gun handler that you are need to decide if you think your child can properly shoot that gun. If he can do it safely, then let him fire away. If how he has to hold it is going to hurt him or could possbily hurt others around as the gun fires, hole off until he gets bigger. Also, my best friend killed his first deer with a 410. He waited till the deer was at 15 yards until he shot, but when he did the spike dropped. He was using buckshot. So, it can be done, the question will be if YOU are confident in him hitting his target AFTER you guys practice all spring and summer at the range with his gun that might not fit him exactly right. Only you will be able to make that call.
