Cool video! I've never seen shad that big, but I don't suppose I've ever tried to catch them either. We just net them and use them for bait mostly here.

They are called paddlefish Mike. It's a catfish species I think but they are filter feeders. There's a lot of them around here but they are a protected species and illegal to keep if caught. I had to get this one in the boat to get the line untangled from his bill, but it was barely breathing and sank when I released it. They are good to eat though and the cool part of them is they have no bones. You skin them, gut them, and slice away.

Go find a possum now and call her around 7 just about the time you coincidentally was about to sit down for a nice dinner. Explain how you were an orphan and see what happens.
