  1. No doubt state had any business up there. Still got 6 of the top ten spots in BCS standings, looks like we'll still be raking in the money again this year!
  2. Good advice. If it can't handle cold, we probably should not be shooting in the winter. Summer heat though is a killer for anything in a vehicle, from your bow to the optics on your rifle.
  3. Man that's one heck of a deer! Congratulations!!! Just wish I had a pic of something like that down here in MS!!!
  4. Have a great one Ken, eat all ya want today!!!! :eat: :happybday:
  5. About what I figured though the media will not say it. Had mass damage here after Katrina with more broken poles and transformers on the ground than you could shake a stick at. Crew rolled in from Kansas in our neighborhood and my lights were back on in two weeks. I just don't see that type of damage up there either. Too freaking cold to be without power.
  6. With the power in the northeast. First thing I see on the news every morning when I get up is folks in NY and NJ protesting. Are the unions locking out all the help? Don't normally see that in other areas after a hurricane in regards to power restoration.
  7. Yep, mine never comes out, neither does my rifle. Unlocked, keys in ignition lol.
  8. Depending on the setup I don't think that is a super long shot with a cross bow, long no doubt, but not that far.
  9. Generally I say the answer is "no" but no doubt they can be thinned from overhunting and disease. Hope your just having a bad year, but a few bad neighbors can stack them up day and night 24/7/365.

Takes a little getting used to, but nice because I don't always have my GPS, but do have my phone all the time. Make tracks create way points and navigate just like my garmin.
  11. Fine buck there, congratulations!

GPS essentials. Great app. Free. That is all.
  13. Plenty fast enough and yes mechs generally shoot just like field tips. Many like rage come with a practice tip that will not expand.

    Dog problems

Our 4 year old lab got ran over 3 weeks ago when she got our and chased the hay ride at our church's fall festival. Went out and got a choc female pup last week and the kids accidentally dropped a big wooden pallet on her leg yesterday. Now it's a 600 or so job to pin her femur back together. Can't win for losing, but didn't have the heart to put her down, kids already attached. My luck she'll get struck by lightning next month!
  15. Thanks to all that serve, have served, and the families of our veterans!
  16. Definitely squatchy Don. Poor unsuspecting fools. Gotta be on your game and not let your guard down.
  17. Sounds like a hit, but certainly no way to know for sure. If the weather is cold enough to preserve the meat, I would get a couple friends and do a grid search of the area and maybe you'll find her. Good luck.
  18. That's great Tracy! Great buck, I know you guys worked hard for him.
  19. That last one is a dandy Rhine. Scrapes showing up every where around here, haven't put a cam on any yet, still early of course. Good activity you got there though no doubt.
  20. To me pressure from hunting is not a one size fits all topic. Some stands I have in the swamp require lots of walking lots of time spooking deer, while other stands can be easily slipped into walking on quiet pine straw. Smart scent/wind attention and I think you can hunt a stand pretty frequently. Sometimes when I have to climb down and run deer off I usually lay off a little. During the rut I pay less attention, they are on the move and no use in backing out of an area for a few days, they are running all over the map any way. Just my thoughts, you can look at my trophy collection and tell I don't know what I'm doing. :clown:
  21. Good luck Tracy, I'd make a good effort for an hour or so, then get a dog. Unless the deer is in a lot of water a good dog will find or bay the deer I'm sure. Agree with Pat that shot is worse than a more forward gut shot, but lethal given enough time. Hope to see pics soon.
  22. Man that was worth the wait, congratulations!
