  1. Sweet deal Ross! I bet though given enough time and metal you could have made one!
  2. Haha, just yankin your chain (though it does look pink on this phone) Question: how do you bed a gun? I know its important to build an accurate gun, but how do you do it?
  3. I know exactly what you mean! I killed my first deer pulling about 40 lbs, with a LOT cruder bow than the cheapest thing available today, there's no comparison. What are you pulling now? Don't feel like you got to keep up with the Jones's to shoot well, you'll continue to outgrow your current set-up over the next few years, but doesnt matter where it is you end up, if it's at 53lbs, then that's fine, if it's 75, then that's cool too.
  4. A muscle is a muscle. Gradually increase poundage about a half round on the limb bolt, then shoot a week or so till it gets to be in your comfort range, then repeat to get to where you want to go. Obviously we all hit a natural wall at some point depending on your build, and when you hit middle age you'll find you can't push as fast as you used to because when you do have an injury the recovery time is longer. Shoot at a comfortable weight though, not a number. Todays bows are deadly with just a 50 lb pull (or even less).
  5. Nice work Leo, but is that stock pink! Lol
  6. Isn't It Ironic? The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the Forest Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves. Saw that on another forum, had to share it.
  7. Yep all that adds up fast. Your biggest loss is your DL Dan. Unreal how they rate these things. My new Bear Assualt was a 330 IBO rated bow, but I'm getting around 286 or so I think. I got tired of my meta peep and put on a peep with the rubber cord tied off and cost me 10 fps alone. Some of the folks I know kill me with their speeds they tell me, when I know what arrows they shoot, know thier specs, and they still are swearing they're getting 10-20 over IBO. Sometimes (actually a lot of times) you'll find chronys that are not calibrated very well. A guy with a shop that has one that consistently reads high actually gets an added benifit in that folks tend to think they can tune better.
  8. Be nice to start a list of stuff to bring (for us noobs). Of course we'll have a tent, binocs, spotting scopes, gps, lots of food and water. What about radios? Reccomendations on a sleeping bag? I know mine is not going to be sufficient. What's in your pack when your out walking all day? Also this will be over two weeks into the MS bow season, I should be able to smack us one or two and bring some fresh bacon burger and back straps for the grill. Can't wait. john
  9. Got my first yesterday Al. Hope they'll cooperate but they're on the line. We'll soon see.
  10. Gotcha Jeff... I'm learning! Hate you won't make it Gregg!
  11. I just need more stands and spend more time scouting before season. May try a new bh, and may drop my weight back to 65, but equipment is good to go.
  12. I know its a dumb question but why not first rifle? Or is that a draw only?
  13. Kinda the info I was looking for Steve, will probably bring the Wby 300 and leave the bow at home this time. Wasn't real sure when the rut was, thought it may be a little late for that.
  14. Yeah, I'm gonna have a gazillion questions as well Dog, like what's the weather generally like that time of year, what kind of elevations is it there, and are they bugling still during that time (should I pick up a call or two between now and then?). really looking forward to it, got all summer to get a few goodies together if I need to.
  15. Need to find out what your draw length and weight are first, post that and you can begin to narrow it down.
  16. I wondered about that too. Absolutely beautiful peace of work you did Ross, as always. You are one generous individual. Happy birthday bud!
  17. Seriously though, redheads are good products made by folks like Hoyt and others exclusively for BPS.
  18. Begging bows are what you get after marriage and your wife tells you your not going to get another bow so you have to beg, like I do.
  19. You can bring an ATV on public land there? Or is this a private ranch? Also can you bring a bow during rifle season there?
  20. I'm not going to miss out on this, sign me up! Will bring either a buddy of my dad with me, so 2 folks total. Will be my first trip out west (hunting), I can't wait!
  21. Falling never killed anyone, it's the sudden stop at the end that gets ya!
  22. Funny many folks both on here and ppl I know that got really nauseated watching this. Guess some just have more of a fear of heights or something.
  23. Seriously, does that come with a house? Who actually likes guns that look like that anyway? Not my cup of tea.
  24. Even if you had not one ounce of fear of heights, few of us would be fit enough to make a vertical climb like that I would imagine.
  25. Don't think I'm cut out for changing light bulbs  http://edge.liveleak.com/80281E/u/u/ll2_player_files/mp55/player.swf?config=http://www.liveleak.com/player?a=config%26item_token=07b_1284580365%26embed=1
