  1. I agree with muley man. You don't want to grip the bow tight at all. When I follow through with my shot and focus my eyes on the target after the release, I shoot much better. Thinking follow through helps me! Good luck.
  2. Congrats on your first deer. Afine buck at that. I hope this is the first of many!
  3. My boy has found us some hogs here in the panhandle of FL. We will definitley have our thermocell when we go in a couple weeks. If we are hunting the rivers or swamps around here we won't hunt without them. They are great!

    Sight Pin

Been using one pin for years. Sight picture is much clearer. If I need to shoot a longshot, I will just move my pin to the yardage.
  5. Congrats! I pray its the first of many!
  6. Anybody used these quickfletch speed hunters. I've been told they are improved over the earlier ones. I've aways fletched my own with an ez fletch. Thinking about giving these a try. Thanks for all your opinions!
  7. Are they picking up your outline. Make sure as they approach that you cannot easlily be skylined. I would find a couple different spots to hunt depending on the wind direction. Let the wind dictate which one to hunt!
  8. Great question. No I have not ever lubed it. It still seems to be moving freely and the cord seems fine.
  9. I'm gonna take it by there tomorrow. Every thing seems to be in place correctly. Something is certainly causing some issues. Is a whisker biscuit a new breakfast sandwich or something? lol
  10. Switchback with the matthews drop away(came with the bow). Never had a problem at all. This evening when I shot the bow seemed a little louder and 3 fletchings (different arrows) began to come off. I did not shoot any more. Arrows still grouped well. I have not set a drop away rest before, but it sounds like it may be out of sync or just not dropping quick enough. Anybody know a quick fix. Thanks guys!
  11. My 2 "scents" When hunting a honey hole loaded with Swamp Chestnut Acorns I learned a lot about scent control. First you can't completly contain it. Second I saw deer 3 to 1 over my buddy who did not use any. Same area; we were hunting within sight of each other for over a month. We changed stands often thinking that maybe my stand location was better than his. I always saw more deer no matter which stand I hunted. We would see the deer skirt around him and continue to feed. Deer most of the time were feeding right in fromt of me. Results; I tagged out easliy and he is now the proud owner of a Scentloc suit and boots. It's not magic, just increasing your odds. Go with what you know. There are many examples where a seat belt cost one's life in an accident as opposed to saving it. There is also overwhelming evidence that odds are in your favor to survive if your wearing your seat belt. I think I'll wear my seatbelt. While the results of your attempted scent elimination don't have a guarantee, you have to neutralize his best defensive player to have a chance to score. I think we all would agree that his best defensive player is his "nose"! So put your best foot forward.
  12. Trying the rage this year. Don't know much about the Tekan.
  13. Just trying them for the first time myself. I have friends that have spoken highly of them.
  14. 5 on the ground. 30+in a stand. Only taken 4 with a bow in the last 10 years. I'm hoping to get back at it this year. Got married, got kids and life happens. Most deer were taken in GA. Up in a tree was the way to go. Truthfully I would rather hunt on the ground. Just couldn't find ways to get it done without spooking the deer on a regular basis.
  15. I like the Scent Loc Savanna. Even when I go to Ohio, I have plenty of room for thermals etc for colder weather. Anything that helps contain scent, I like. If hunted up north more often, I would certainly own heaver outer garments.
  16. I have used innerloc for years. Thunderheads are also a good broadhead. Having your Bow tuned will be the key to good broadhead flight! Good Luck!
  17. 100 grains may do a little better; I would definitely try that. I have shot several fixed blades including muzzy. I have been shooting innerlocs for several years now; I have better luck with them shooting just like my field tips, knowing they are very similar to the muzzy. They just shoot better to me. I'm trying the rage this year; pretty much going against what i've always done in the past.
  18. I fought myself back and forth. I finally took the plunge and bought a pack (yesterday). After several hunters that I know first hand just swore by them. 2 which were die hard fixed blade hunters like myself. I'm gonna give them a shot!

    Shooter?

    Definitely Buckzilla in FL
  20. I have a weeks vacation slated for the 3rd week in November. I hope the moon phases cooperate; I will be in SE Ohio and I can't move my vacation. I went during Thanksgiving a couple years ago and I felt like we were a little past the rut. I hope to have better timing this year!
  21. Awesome Deer. I hope you have great luck getting one!
  22. Looks like it may be what I am looking for. Where might I find some of these? What is the process to determine which strip is for my bow? I guess I can compare my current markings to the different strips. Is there a more desireable way to figure that out. Thanks for your help guys!
  23. Thanks a lot. The pro shop close by does not have that capability. I will search to find one. Thanks!
  24. Thanks for the quick feedback. I'm gonna have to get one! Are you gonna get the string served where it makes contact? Thanks
  25. Thanks. Were the increments as precise as you would have hoped? According to your bow's specs(ofcourse). I was just looking for a generic "stickie". I will certainly look and see if I can get one just for my bow and set up if they are availible. Thanks
