    Nagin again

I dont like a lot of what hes done but I gotta wonder if this countries become so sensitive that he should have to publicly apologize for making a comparison between NY and New Orleans. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14553148/ [ QUOTE ] During a “60 minutes” interview, a CBS correspondent pointed out flood-damaged cars still on the streets of New Orleans’ devastated Ninth Ward. Nagin replied, “You guys in New York can’t get a hole in the ground fixed, and it’s five years later. So let’s be fair,” according to CBS. [/ QUOTE ] seems like a pretty fair comparison to me given the amount of time that both cities have had to rebuild

    what a mess

Re: what a mess Clayman, on a siliar not a few years ago a buddy of mine had ordered a garage package from them.He had to leave town unexpectedly the day it arrived so I went to help them unload it.The stuff was barely off the truck and the driver had me sign a paper and he took off before we could look through it, everything was in boxes and crated and took awhile to go through.Turned out theyd shorted him about 1200$ worth of garage doors and since the stuff was signed for they wouldnt do anything about it.He did wind up getting the doors but it took forever for them to finally admitt theyd never shipped them

    what a mess

started a big roof today which takes around 100 sheets of plywood on the one side.Im doing it for the elevator and when it all started I was okd to get the material.then one of the morons in the office decided to Save big money at menards instead of letting me handle it through the lumber yard i usually work with.Heres how the last two days went.I told the guy at the elevator we needed it yesterday morning, the roofs so rotten we have to start at the bottom and sheet it on the way up to do it safely. we show up at 8:30 and tear off shingles and the bottom 8 ft of plywoodas high as we can reach, at 11:30 i have to call menards to change a couple things.i ask when the stuff is coming and they tell me this morning first thing.kinda irritating but not a big deal, we lose half a day of work. this morning we dont bother showing up till 9 figuring the materials gonna be there around then.We clean up a little, get all the tools hauled out and pull nails till 11.No materials.I call em and ask where the stuffs at, they tell me the truck left 10 minutes ago and should be here within a half hour.i have the elevator bring the forklift and trailer over and we have two more guys standing around waiting. 11:45, Im getting so mad at this point I decide screw it, the elevator ordered it they can unload the truck when it gets here. The guy that ordered it could tell I was mad so he volunteered to stay while we went to lunch. 12:30, Im back, nothings there yet.Im getting madder by the minute and for the life of me cant figure where the trucks at.We sit and wait till 1:15.I storm into the elevator and tell him to call them and tell them theyve put me 2 days behind schedule and inform the elevator manager that since they ordered it they were paying 3 guys for 1/2 days labor. They come over and tell me the trucks 10 minutes away.2:00 rolls around I start throwing toold in the truck and tell the elevator to call me when they get thier heads out of thier butts. I goto the elevator office and tell them if the stuffs not there by morning Im not coming back.I go home.2:15 my phone rings, the stuffs showed up but theres a problem.I go look and find out they sent me blandex instead of plywood and stick nails instead of coils I tell em to send it back and walk away, Im ready hit the guy that took charge of ordering things at this point so I figure I better just go.Turns out he gave them the list I gave him, typed out on the computer which clearly said plywood and coil nails and they still sent 2000$ worth of the wrong stuff over.Im done, I tell him to straighten it out, its his baby now and leave. An hour and a half later my phone rings.Menards sent over 3 ply plywood instead of 4.I snapped, I told every one of those morons in the office at the begining thats what they were getting and they didnt understand the difference. Then the guy turned around and tried to tell me it was Menards fault as well. turns out theyre getting the stuff whereI wanted to to start with now, and it will be there at 8:00 in the morning.I could have had it two days ago but that idiot at the elevator was trying to save, and this is what threw me over the edge, a grand total of 50$.Thats what the difference in price turned out to be.I could have had all the roof off and most of it sheeted by now. Im gonna charge them for a full days labor for 3 guys, if they dont like it I wont do the other side of it next year.My head hurts so bad right now im sure I blew a vessel today

  10. Re: When The Levees Broke ( HBO doc.) ACtually theres around a billion dollars in aid thats supposed to be going down there still thats making its way from the feds down through the state.Instead of shoing the levees up and waiting for the money hes going ahead with rebuilding them in this fashion, thats what i cant understand.A good chunk of the moneys already made it to the state so its not far from reaching them Gonna be hard to convince people to move back with earthen levees back in place I would think
  11. Re: When The Levees Broke ( HBO doc.) Nagin was on TV the other day at a hearing discussing the rebuilding of the city.As of now theyre putting the old earth and rock levees back together out of basically the same materials because they couldnt afford to reinforce them with concrete, rebar, and mesh.Last time I checked Ray Nagin certainly wasnt white, and by rebuilding them in this fashion hes almost certainly asking for more problems.Stupid doesnt really have a color barrier apparently

Re: Magazines I quit buying them, after about 10 years of getting lots of different magazines they all started to repeat the same articals ovr and over again. Then Buckmasters had that Rack magazine out which I really liked cuz it was al hunting stories.Unfortunatly Buckmasters turned into a bunch of stalkers and wouldnt leave me alone so now I dont get any
  14. Re: ACLU will be all over this [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Unfortunately many people are screwed by the press due to their lack of ability to make sure they have the facts before airing their stories. I do agree with Chris though that there is a mentality in this country of prejudging people especially based on appearance or association, and sadly I myself have found myself doing this very thing and not even realizing it without thinking about it. Some examples I could think of off the top of my head that most could relate to but not necessarily that I have held: the long haired guy must be a dope smoking hippie, the camoed up hunter must be a bambi killer, the guy with tattoos all over him must be in a gang or a really bad person, the muslim person must be a terrorist, and the list could go on and on. People have a way of envisioning things how they want to see them and often they are very sadly mistaken. [/ QUOTE ] Well of course the camoed up hunter guy is a bambi killer, what else???? [/ QUOTE ] Umm, fashionable maybe
  15. Re: ACLU will be all over this Muggs, you arent even talking about the same thing I am, I dont care who they racially profile.go way back and read my original post, I asked why someone would be ticked off that these guys might be defended by someone and that was it.That is mentality I was refering to, they were screwed as as soon as the press got ahold of the story because of that very attitude. It doesnt matter if they were guilty or not at this point, the entire countries tried them already and found them guilty.im not talking about stopping middle easterners in the line at the air port, Im not talking about rousting Islamics out of thier nieghborhoods, I dont even care if they lock em all up in camps. My post had absolutely nothing to do with Middle easterners and everything to do with the fact that theres a large "guilty by association" mentality in this country and its going to start effecting more and more situations untill it boils over if its not stopped.Let the police, the prosecutor, and the courts do thier job, the media and the rest of us really dont need to build on it.
  16. Re: ACLU will be all over this [ QUOTE ] Its better to be safe than sorry. You know what? Why is this such an issue anyway...because these guys were inconvienienced? Because they may have been wrongfully accused? OK...we're sorry...now go back to your everyday life and quit whining. [/ QUOTE ] You call having your name and photo plastered across every tv set in America as a terrorist an inconvienece? [ QUOTE ] Because they may have been wrongfully accused? OK...we're sorry...now go back to your everyday life and quit whining. [/ QUOTE ] You make it sound like carrying on with your everyday life after that would be an option.
  17. Re: ACLU will be all over this And the fact that these guys apparently werent doing anything illegal doesnt affect your view of them as terrorists? This is what I was talking about, these guys have had thier names plastered across the news for a week as terrorists, yet the FBI cant find any ties at all to terrorism here.Do you suppose theyre gonna be able to lead ordinary lives from here on out?You guys had em convicted as soon as they were pulled over.So was it worth ruining the lives of these guys to run a story based on very few actual facts? Its got nothing to do with being politically correct, its the preconcieved notion everyone with a turbans a bad guy thats gonna cause a lotta trouble in the near future.Profile em all you want, but get the facts before you condemn them
  18. Re: ACLU will be all over this i never said they werent guilty of planning to blow something up, i said the courts would figure it out without our help.maybe you all missed this in my post, [ QUOTE ] .If they were using them for terrorist activities i hope theyre punished to the fullest extent of the law, [/ QUOTE ] Actually, i just found something rather interesting Here no terrorist ties, the link to the bridge was just a picture on a digital camera, no illegal activities.Oh well, You get the picture etc and so forth.

  21. Re: ACLU will be all over this not sure what the mad face was all about.Arent people in this country supposed to be tried before being found guilty?Im not defending these guys but we have a system for a reason, and these days people seem awfully quick to jump on the terrorism bandwagon where middle easterners are concerned. If they were using them for terrorist activities i hope theyre punished to the fullest extent of the law, but if these charges were wrong I hope they are exonerated or charged with something more fitting without a bunch of racial crap taking place.
  22. Re: Have any of you ever been banned? I actually did get banned from one, I let a guy get under my skin a little to much and it boiled over.he was friends with the site owner and suprisingly enough I was banned the next week and he still is a memer there .
  23. Re: (Pics) Who would be running for the basement?? ill admitt, I woulda been the guy standing in his yard watching it come in.Those things facinate me , two weeks ago we had a wall cloud with some rotation come through north of town, I actually got in the car and drove out to the top of the hill outside town to see it better.it was cool, little fingers dropping down all over the place
  24. Re: Mechanics--Help a brother out Do what I do, take a bunch of stuff apart starting at the battery and working back to wards the alternator and even the starter if you like.Wait till you got a hopelessly lost feeling, it may take several hours to get enough stuff tore apart. Then call and invite your brother, friend, or an nieghbor over that knows about cars and happen to be trying to put stuff back together when they show up.Dont use the same guy more than once in row, give em a few months to forget or theyll start screening thier calls
