    Genealogy

I have had a passing interest in my ancestry. I started a little on it a few years ago and gave up quickly. Well one of my sons had a essay to write about this subject and I did the best I could. So I started to do some more online research and discovered that some other distant kin had been doing some to a great extent. It has been intersting to tag along on some of them and then with the census of certain years available and other links I have been doing some findings of my own to fill in a couple of blanks. I would post of some of the discoveries but I am not able to certify that my lines are 100% correct. (Stuff like Daniel Boone is possibly a great-great........uncle of mine and also that I have links to royal blood and kin that came over on Mayflower.egads that is something would be awesome if correct) Has anybody done any research work in your family? Any tips to give?
  2. Re: done with shotguns My 14 year old also prefers to use his ML during our shotgun season. I will take a shotgun once I changed to rifled barrel while hunting public lands . It is accurate and offers the second shot since most times the deer will be moving. On private lands I will take my sidelock ML . Really didnt matter this year since I only got to go out for 2 hours. What works for some doesn't work for others
  3. Re: Sportsman for bush... Thanks.... I didnt know about the vin numbers.
  4. very nice Congrats on the great buck.
  5. Re: Should the inmates kill Scott? Personally I do not care what happens to this person. Never been to prison so I cant say what inmates will do either.
  6. Re: Sportsman for bush... Carbonhunter...kudos to your family on the hybrid. popgun.... I dont understand the statement about "Mexican" please elaborate. Yawn... to the arguement about what you drive and use to heat. This is not about me or you.(no one in particular so dont feel honored) It is about the future of this country. Other countries will be smart enough to work on alternative energy resources which will replace oil. They will have the jobs and also the riches and my grandchildren will be living in a third world country. We have the intelligence and manpower to develop these now but they are not encouraged. But too many just are thinking of themsleves or are you?
  7. Re: The End of an Era Sad to read this GW. But I am happy to hear you got to hunt with your Dad. I have only been able to get out with my Dad twice in the last 3 years. Once for doves and once for squirrels. He has never held a bow and never will. He has never hunted deer in fact and he is 67 yrs old. He hasnt been able to get out much but since he had a heart transplant bout 5-6 yrs ago we are thankful he is still around.
  8. Re: Post rut, post gun bowhunts? I will be out Saturday morning and all day Sunday I hope and the next few weekends.
  9. Re: Would You Still Hunt Turkeys..... Yes I would still hunt turkeys. Yes it would be harder and not as much fun. The gobbling is the sweetest music I know.
  10. Re: Public Hunting Land 90% public and 10% private. Funny thing is where I have access to private land the hunting is better on the public lands.
  11. Re: i don\'t get it? I have had some opportunities with hunt with friends. But that would take time away from hunting with my wife and 3 sons and I will not lose that time. My wife hunts but she mainly is for our sons. But evetually when I get to hunt with here I am there for her and it also can be more fun if we get bored.
  12. Re: A Nation Secure I also feel the same as carbonhunter and anybody who thinks making it legal for illegal's to work here is sadly in error. illegal's are a burden to all taxpayers. nuff said
  13. Re: Gun confiscation has started in Canada [ QUOTE ] At least we got four more years here that this wont happen!! [/ QUOTE ] Can you be sure about that? Trusting politicians is a fool's errand and I am not a fool. So I quetion all the crooks in Washington and Columbus... do you?
  14. Re: Sportsman for bush... Carbon and slug.... you 2 should know by now how blind some people are. Some just are not hunters at heart.
  15. Have you ever slept in your vehicle before a hunt? I am thinking of doing this for the late primitive season right after Christmas. I could rent a cabin, take my pop-up down there again and stay with a friend(he drinks tho and I dont). So I am thinking of just driving down and sleeping in my van before hunting that day. But it made me wonder who has done this before. Have you?

  17. Re: Just got into MLing! [ QUOTE ] .50 cal 1:28 twist ratio! Is that ethical to use? [/ QUOTE ] Yes Danny it is. I'm not a expert but I do know that some type of sabot or even the powerbelts is best for that twist. Read your manual to see what it suggests to use and go from there.
  18. Re: In-Line or Traditional Shooter? All muzzleloading rifles are efficient killers when used properly.

    Do You?

Re: Do You? I thought of this post yesterday as I was leaving where I hunted til 8:30 am. I saw a doe go right by where I had been set up. It would have been a 10 foot shot. I was satisfied that I chose my son's wrestling tournemet over hunting any more that day. I really made the correct choice that day. Oh his team ended up in second place for the tournement.
  21. Re: Intrducing my brother and his 2 kids Ditto to the above replies. MHO is to Have them read books about turkey hunting. Have them watch turkey hunting tapes with you. Stop the tape and tell them your experiences when they have questions. There are sights that have turkey sounds and there are also tapes about calling. Like it is said before. Take them scouting and show them how to read signs and make sure they know to learn the terrain. It will be almost impossible to have all 3 with you at the same time. So I would take your brother first and teach him how to set up and to call. Then once the season starts he will take one child while you have another. Patience will be your best virtue.
  22. Re: Turkey Outfitter Sorry that I am not able to help. I have never been with a outfitter.
