Re: Buffalo Hunting - What a Joke Not too many animals even know your there, when your shooting from 400 yrds, whether your hunting deer, elk, moose or whatever. Try getting up close to these critters for a well placed bow shot ....better hope your not shaking too hard..and ...you'd also better hope he doesn't know where the shot came from..LOL Here's a good link http://www.westernimprints.de/data/wildlife/facts/bisonfacts.html As far as I'm concerned, buffalo aren't any easier than moose are to hunt, but a heck of a lot more dangerous.

Re: Is It Legal? I'm pretty sure the dry crusty, easy pickers are legal, but I'm pretty sure the wet, slimy, where-do-I-put-this ones are totally illegal and should be avoided at all cost as far as picking them goes. These are blowers...and blowers only

Good tip Jim. It works well if the deer only spooks because he thinks he sees something wierd sitting there and hasn't smelled you yet. I've seen them run 10 to 40 yrds, stand for a bit checking me out and then relax and start working their way back over to me.

Re: Is this really hunting? We just went through this discussion about the same show last week in here and it got a bit nasty. I didn't see the show, but I understand that this type of hunting is legal in Texas. Maybe it was made legal to make it easier to deal with the deer populations in Texas....I don't know. I wouldn't want to hunt that way, if I was to visit Texas, because I would feel like I was poaching too, even though it is legal down there. I guess they have their reason for legalizing such a method for hunting, but I think they made a boo-boo and should have thought it over better. Maybe it's an old law, that has never been revised to set the standards for today. Maybe one of our Texas board members could shed some light on the whole thing for us, to help us all to understand why things are different in Texas. If they are going to show a hunt like that on TV for the whole world to scrutinize, then at least they should have had a commentary on there, exlaining why this method is legal in their state, and frowned on everywhere else in North America. Just my opinion of course (which doesn't carry much weight, in a discussion such as this) Just a warning to all : Lets keep this discussion civil, because I know it could get nasty.

So far, so good, but we did get a bunch of rain last week that set me behind a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love the fall ... but work comes before pleasure, for me right now.

To simplify things, (in case you didn't know) a Pro (professional) is someone who gets paid to for their services or get paid for what they do. That would mean if you are a hunting guide, then you are a pro. If you are a TV hunter, who produces TV shows, that makes you a pro. You can also be a pro or professional, and not be that great at what you do. There are lots of them around in every profession, but it doesn't make them any less of a pro as long as they are making their living at it. I think you may be confusing the word PRO with EXPERT.

If I had a chance to go hunting with either of them, I think my first choice would be tied between ,deer hunting the milk river or somewhere up here ,. Either Sask. or Alberta. Second choice would be elk ...anywhere
