  1. I know we needed rain but wow, it really gave us a good dose last night...I'm afrad to look at the field or food plot, hopefully they held ok. Little bit cooler temps this week...About time because goose and squirrel season oopen Sept. 1!
  2. Nice set-up! And great job raising your girls to be outdoorsey...
  3. This is actually part of our horse pasture that we let a farmer use for crops...we hunt his property so seemed like a fair trade. He just planted it 2 weeks ago and it's coming along fine, looking like a nice big deer plot:D And here is my little apple tree plot: Planted Pro Graze in the spring and then threw down Throw & Gro 2 weeks ago...looking nice and lots of scrape/licking branches:D This is where they had a scrape last year that I got lots of buck photos: This is the one corner of our property that we threw some clover in awhile back and have let it go but I keep the outside edge mowed and am letting the middle grow..That's the corn field that runs along the backside of our property - that's our woods running up there:
  4. This little guy has been hanging around our ever so slow filling/evaporating pond all summer...Took this photo of him/her today. Actually pretty docile bird...we'll walk by/drive the lawn mower by and he walks around chirping. We haven't quite figured out what he is, other than some type of sand piper?? Have at it:D
  5. So this all started when I shot at the 3D range during camp, up till then I was shooting good, bow shooting well. After 3D, I had the shop there put a G5 meta peep on, got rid of the tubing. Have not had problems with it. But since that day, my bow has been noiser, I can feel vibration like never before through my grip. I can't relax my grip because it think the vibration is making it jump a bit out of my hand...I'm ok at 10 yards but 20- 30 yards I can't group my arrows. I also noticed the fleece on my riser has a rubbed spot on it which I'm wondering if my Blazers are contacting it somehow coming off the whisker biscuit. This has gotten me frustrated, I've switched from my new TruGlo Trusite Extreme back to the Xtreme RT900 sight and back to the Truglo...no difference other than less pin glare with the RT900. I noticed the bubble on my TruGlo level is getting broken into like 3 bubbles at the shot from the vibration....My RT900 didn't do that. I feel like it's messing up my form, then I make sure I have good form and follow thrugh and something still doesn't seem right. Going to go to the bow shop tomorrow I think and have it looked over, see if there's anything wrong by chance. (and I can drool over new bows). It's just discouraging and frustrating. I shot just fine till after the 3D shoot....
  6. this spring for sheds, could not find any on the land around home. My season ended with 3 old sheds. Andy goes hiking up into some woods on the other side of the field behind our woods, and he finds a shed laying in the middle of a trail! Barely chewed, looks like it was this past year's I think.... I'll take photo of it to post. Go figure this one out....:jaw:
  7. LOL Mike! I agree....some may say let him go a year or two...Well around here, if you let him go, he might be shot by someone else, or wounded during shotgun. I'd tag him if he walked by!
  8. Awesome you stopped in! Happy hunting this season! I love Whitetail Freaks, already looking forward to what you have in store next year from this season!
  9. Photos are in the women's room from last night's buck encounter. Here's a short video I took with my Kodak:
  10. Went out to the land I hunt, sat in a hedgerow with my Kodak Z612 and a tripod. Around 7:30pm this guy came out, had to zoom in alot but I wouldn't mind putting a tag on him, love how his beams almost touch! Then about 10 minutes later this bachelor group of 5 show up out in front of me, made for some good photos, even got a small video as well. An 8 I've gotten on the trail cam: Good size spike-ish buck (he has one or 2 little points on the right) NICE 8 for the area: Nothing massive like other states, but this is NY, and just to get some photo opportunities like this is awesome, not too mention put dibs down on who I want to put my tag on,lol:gun2::disolve::boo:
  11. Yeah The string I have on, was a custom I got 2-3 years ago I think. Still in decent shape. Even the guy at a bow shop said it was a really good string (thanks Bucknasty). Figure if I'm going to go new string, I'll get a new bow. So for this season, we'll see what the ol' Hoyt puts down then start looking after the first of the year.. I figure that's when all the 2011 bows will be out and maybe prices will come down on 2010...Or the fact that who knows what 2011 bow will be out!
  12. Glad to hear they are doing well. He's def. missed around here....I was wondering yesterday if he'd made it out salmon fishing...
  13. I was thinking maybe obstruction also. I'd def. take her to get checked out by the vet....the longer you wait, the worse it could get:-/
  14. Revenge is mine says the Lord....So when my Scoutguard was stolen, not much I could do but believe he/they will be dealt with when the "time" comes. It really stinks though, the feeling of violation...can't trust anything anywhere these days.

    Broken finger

Geesh Dakota...I think you just beat my injury standards...look who is the new Ruth, lol!! Hope it heals up quick!
  16. Wow, either of them wouldl ike nice on the wall, but that freky one would sure be unique! That's the longest spike I've ever seen:-o
  17. I think it's just the late summer heat...slow around my parts....Soon as we get some cool temps staying that way, things will pick up.
  18. Nice bucks! That wide forkhorn is awesome!!
  19. Well got my license...was denied for my 2nd DMP a 2nd year in a row as well.....Got my first choice at least. I feel $10 for DMPs is such a rip-off. Hey Joe, with the lifetime, do you know if you still have to pay each year for DMPs? I may get my lifetime next year....
  20. Check out www.chasingame.com Great cam reviews on there for literaly every cam.

    Hey NYers!

Licenses go on sale today! Going to go get mine, Super Sportsman, and hopefully all my DMPs as well. Anyone else getting their license for 2010/2011?
  22. Yup, I shot about once a week throughout the summer while at camp, then the last 2 days been shooting...doing ok, I think it's my form messing me up.
  23. Maybe by waiting till next year, the price will go down on the z7,lol. Yeah, my bow is a bit on the hefty side, so to have a lighter bow would be nice, not to mention a better grip. I think my grip has gotten a little on the small side...makes it harder to grip. I've done just fine though with my Hoyt so I'll take her through this season, see what she brings down:)
  24. I shoot a WB as well.... have yet to have my Blazers be damaged. I love it because there is no worry, stick the arrow on and good to go!
