October 1 ladies!!!! 2 weeks from tomorrow and I'll be hunting deer with the bow!:flex::disolve: What's everyone got planned in October?

I'm about 2 hours from the nearest one. Been there twice in my life,lol. Next road trip will be Bass Pro,lol

Day off from work, and it's pouring rain here. Mom and I are getting ready to head up to the city aka Buffalo. I hope Gander Mountain has some good deals...Will be checking for a slug barrel for my shotgun. Also the usual stops at moms favorite food stores and probably whatever else catches our interest. Ya'll have fun now:clown:

2 weeks from this Saturday my season starts! Really need to get out with my bow, and put the broadheads on. Work has been keeping me busy or on my days off, it's been windy or raining....Good luck to those hunting already!

Sprayed by a skunk that is! Woke up at midnight last night, found a note on the table...apparently my mom got up and smelled the skunk. Well my cat got sprayed...:48: So this morning he got a few scrubs, vinegar - skunk shampoo - vinegar... then ended up putting him back in the bath, my sister has special shampoo for dogs, and did him again. So now he's drying off and I hope it's not as bad when he dries out.... Any one have any tricks to share?

Shot my bow today again, both eyes open...so much better. Actually slightly squinting my left eye slightly really helped. I think I'll be shooting this way from now on!

I think you did the right thing...Ethics is one of the big things and it's the unethical guys that really burns us ethical hunters. I deal with an unethical hunter every gun season...but we won't confront him, no one will, just because everyone is afraid of repercussions from him and he's a "big name in town"....

Use to use a TruGlo 30mm...well this year towards end of the season found that a lens or something in it got nocked out of place...so took it off and just used my fiber optic sights, probably will this fall to. May try to contact TruGlo about it...Otherwise I really liked it.

I have not yet but I know of a bearded hen around here that I've seen for several years...don't know if I saw her thing spring or not...I think I did....

So I went back out shooting after I put my tubing peep back in. Well I decided to try shooting with both eyes open, and I may be on to something. Always shot with left eye closed to to my right eye injury ages ago which left me wearing a contact lens. I have about 20/20 vision, but without the contact, I'm essentially blind in that eye and don't have great peripheral or depth perception. Well I found tonight I can focus with my right eye still on the pins and have my left eye open. I was able to see my arrow in flight and for some reason, my shots felt better! Arrows hit a little high and 20 and 30 yards but consistent. I swear I did better with 2 eyes than one...Now I'm thinking maybe I should continue shooting this way...Or am I dillusional? lol

I dunno what it is this year...Shot great at camp. Had a G5 meta peep put on, I swear since then my shooting has gone downhill. Last week shot great. Today, and maybe because it was a little windy, but shot not so great. I decided though to put my peep sight with tubing back on. For some reason I feel like I just can't get used to the G5 peep....same hole size but maybe because it's more open...I don't know, call me weird. Finally after I got the peep and tubing back on, I drew back and I dunno but it felt more normal for me, guess why fix something that ain't broke. Will shoot tomorrow, not today, pointless to shoot when I'm frustrated. Any tips from you guys? Maybe I'm not following through on my shots....

is going to be FUN! I'm looking forward to it because one of the counselors from camp, actually he worked there 2 out of the 5 years I've been there, he's an avid hunter and nice guy and he's wanted to come down and hunt with me for awhile...ok ever since he met me at camo and found out I hunted,lol Well it looks like it may happen. He's planning to come down for 4 days, we've got a guest room in the basement, and we are going to bow hunt 2 of the days and goose/duck hunt the other days. Already made sure it was ok with the landowner. It'll be a blast! I'd love to see him go home with a deer and/or geese in the back of his truck. He lives way on the Eastern side of the state, so I'll be giving him a taste of western NY hunting:gun1:

Agreed.... I get tired of the whiny, negative posts though where people complain about things that don't really matter...or post to stir up trouble. It's one thing when something is happening in their lives, whether family, job, or personal, and they want to share it. But if it's a "negative nancy" all the time...well it gets boring. Things are changing on RT and it's atmosphere is not what it use to be.
